    virtual training

For testing purposes in singe player mode I suggest this: https://forums.bistudio.com/topic/179688-simple-single-player-cheat-menu/It allows you to manipulate SP-missions to your heart's content. Zeus functionality is included. Unlimited ammo is good feature if you want to test the launchers.
  2. I've been using tpw mods for a long time in my (admittedly few) SP games and I just want to stop by and say thank you for continuously maintaining this addon. By the way, the link to the latest version in #3129 seems to be broken, the dropbox link on the first page of this thread works fine.
  3. Thanks for your reply. I have purchased a new screen, recently. As I don't have a calibration tool I changed the default settngs according to recommendations in various reviews and I must say that this significantly improved the image qualitiy. Starting ArmA for the first time with these settings - without RealLight - was very good. The grey shade of the vanila game was much less noticable than on my old screen which I had always used with its default settings. But of course I wanted to try Real Light again. In order to get rid of any errors I may have caused when messing around with the config I deleted my previous installation of ReShade and started again from scratch. This time I got ReShade version 1.1 and Real Light 6.2 basic to avoid the blurry HUD. I tried all available LUTs again and I found it extremely difficult to decide which one I liked most. Some of the LUTs differ only very subtly and I had to take time to appreciate the differences. My current choice is "rich". So far I have only tested on Altis and Stratis, by the way.

Arma 3 Units - Feedback thread

Just a little suggestion: I think it would be a good idea to place a link to ArmA 3 units in the forum header, either under the "Community" tab or in the gap between "Store" and "Forums".

Arma 3 Units - Closed Beta Feedback

Just an idea how to deal with non-active units. This might become a problem if units disband and the admin of the unit forgets to delete it. Stumbling across non-active units may frustrate people who look for a unit. Users could use the "Report Unit" feature in this case. Then someone will have to investigate the situation of the unit in question which may cause extra work. I think all this can be simplified if the person who registered a group (or a member of his admin team if you chose to enable multiple "owners" of a unit) has to access the unit with his password once every three months or at other intervals to prove that the unit is still active. If he fails to do so, the unit should be made invisible for general users. An automated reminder might be sent to the admin's account a few days before his unit becomes hidden. Hidden units could be marked in the "My Units" area of the admin and the members of the unit. The admin should be allowed to re-activare his unit if he uses his password after his unit is hidden from general view.
  6. I agree. The XM-8 is a very interesting weapon system. If it is too advanced for a certain type of mission or gameplay, more traditional rifles are still available.

Arma 3 Units - Closed Beta Feedback

Just an idea: You might put the establishment date in the unit's picture on the "Browse Units" page. A good place may be the top left corner opposite the unit size. Another thing: In this thread we are concentrating on creating the content and the presentation of the units. But what about the players who are looking for a unit? Will they have to register before they can access ArmA 3 Units or will it be just like any other website for them?

Arma 3 Units - Closed Beta Feedback

Korneel Thanks for your reply! Re tag: As I said, [-A-] is definetely OK for us, but just for the sake of your internal discussion I'd like to point out that single letters are also unique as long as they are used by just one unit. Just to avoid a misunderstanding, for my unit I am thinking about the regular letter A, and not the special character Ä. But I can confirm that ä, Ä, ö, Ö, ü and Ü cannot be part of the clan tag. In the normal text fields umlauts can be used, however. Re registering servers: For the time being I registered our server with the numbers. Re filtering for establishment date: Thanks for your comment. Another thing: Applications and contact mails are currently sent to the email address of the individual who registered the unit. I would prefer to direct the messages to the email address of the unit where they will be seen by several people in the admin team. I understand if a detail like this is not very high on your priority list, of course.

Arma 3 Units - Closed Beta Feedback

Arma 3 units is a very good idea and it works quite well, apart from the little quirks which have been mentioned here. The filter options are great and they will surely help people to find the right unit. I am looking forward to seeing it in full operation. It was interesting to read in this thread how the length of the tag was extended more and more. Now I am suggesting the opposite: Our tag is just the single letter [A], so I wonder if tags can be just one letter. If this is not possible, please let me know. Then we will have to change our tag to something like [-A-]. Will you allow special characters such as our German umlaut in the future? One of my friends even speculated about unicode. Is this feasible, at all? I wanted to register our game server "arma.gruppe-adler.de:2302" but this was not possible. Probably only numbers are accepted. By the way, our teamspeak server is "ts.gruppe-adler.de:9988". If TS servers will be listed in future this may also cause a problem. We provided the month and year when we established our units. Will you consider to make it possible to sort units by the founding date?
  10. I use the Advanced DOF version and I noticed that DOF makes written text on the screen blurry, for example the ammo counter and the names of the AI guys under my control. I don't see any change in the game environment, however. Pressing [F10] removes the blurryness. I understood that DOF would have an impact on the foreground and the background of the picture but I want the information overlay as clear as possible. (I hope I didn't mess with the config files to much and caused the problem I'm reporting. I apologise if I did.)
  11. A while ago I tried version 5 and unfortunately I had some problems with it: I found the image a bit too overexposed for my taste and something was wrong with my gamma values. So I stopped using RL but I continued to follow this thread. Recently, I tried version 6.2 basic. It worked extremely well for me. The overexposure is still there but it has been reduced to a level where it doesn't bother me at all. Now I find that it depicts bright Mediterranean sunlight in a very believable way. The gamma values are OK, too. After this test I switched to version 6.2 advanced with DOF and I haven't looked back. Currently I am experimenting with the LUTs. I like "crisp" for the contrast and the rich colours which give the scenery a fresher look. But for my taste the added saturation is a bit too much when I look at the faces of the characters. "Neutral" is definetely one of my favourites, at least for the time being. So thanks again, Solano, for sharing RL. It is a pleasure to see the dedication you put into this project and it is a pleasure to try new versions and new LUTs .
  12. New versions of the spreadsheet and the VAC profile are available. The LMC-profile has been removed. It can still be downloaded from the LMC website. As usual, the latest versions of the game and the listed software and addons at the time of editing the opening post are covered.

    The Username Change/Merge Thread

Thanks for your comment, neoarmageddon. Meanwhile I contacted Support again and today they sent me a link to the user profile which is the same as in #184. I tried to change my username once more and this time it worked. No idea whether I had done something wrong, previously, or if some work has been carried out on the forum software behind the scene. Anyway, I suggest you try again and hopefully it works now.

    4K Monitor Vs. 1440p Vs. 1080p

What do think about a 40-inch 4k screen such as this one: Philips BDM4065UC? There are also a few curved Samsung 4k TV sets which may be used for gaming at 60 Hz but the graphics card has to support the latest HDMI standard which may be a problem.
  15. New versions of the spreadsheet and the VAC profile are available. As usual, the latest versions of the game and the listed software and addons at the time of editing the opening post are covered. AGM has been replaced by ACE3.
  16. Hipporider Once you're happy with your VA profile please consider sharing it here so that everybody can use it. (I wish I could use it too, but it seems I'm stuck wich VAC for the time being.)
  17. Meanwhile ACE3 has been released with several new commands. I will update my stuff accordingly. Until I do, please ignore the ACE sections of my list and profile.
  18. Hipporider No, you can use it for every single keyboard command regardless of the game type. Voice recognition works perfectly well in multiplayer. As it interferes only with your own system, you don't have to consider BattleEye or the server you play on. But there's one thing you'll have to be aware of in multiplayer: If your voice recognition software receives a spoken word it has been trained to accept, it will generate the corresponding key stroke. Obviously the software cannot distinguish between something you say to another person and a command to your own computer. Thus you'll have to make sure that your software does not listen when you speak to a human player. In other words: If you use push-to-talk on Teamspeak, it makes sense to configure this same key to temporarily mute your VA. Or, you can simply assign different keys for Teamspeak and VA. (The spoiler in my signature links to a list of commands which I use for voice recognition in SP and MP alike and some profiles I made for similar software.)

Real Light V5 - ReShade Preset

Solano and serjames, thank you very much for your replies. I will experiment a bit more with "define exposure" and in game brightness and of course I am aware of the fact that the whole business of altering image quality is a very personal one, considering both personal taste and the hardware which is being used.

Real Light V5 - ReShade Preset

Solano, first of all thank you very much for your effort and for sharing the result. It was super easy to install your personal setup package. Like some others who posted on this thread I wasn't aware of the grey tint until your addon made it disappear. Now the picture is much brighter and appears crisper than before. But I have a feeling that the image is now a bit overexposed. I opened the arsenal and placed a character in his underwear. With your effects enabled it was almost impossible to distinguish the white front and back of the T-shirt from the grey shoulders. I disabled the effects by pressing scroll lock and the difference between the grey and the white bits became clearly visible. I started a mission and repeated the experiment in case the lighting in the arsenal was off, but on the sunny island of Stratis it was the same. I tried to play with the overall brightness and gamma value of the game but that didn't help. By the way, I set Bloom to zero, too. Am I doing something wrong or is this overexposure a known side-effect of Real Light 5?

    Tao Folding Map

I think a config file is no longer needed. You can change the key bindings in the configuration menu.
  22. I updated the opening post again. The latest spreadsheet lists commands for both AGM and ACE3. The VAC profile comes in separate versions for AGM and ACE. The ACE-profile is based on info taken from the official ACE-website. It has not been tested because the addon hasn't been published yet.
  23. In vanilla you can access another person's rucksack, but you can't access his vest and uniform pockets unless you shoot him.
  24. I updated the opening post with new versions of the spreadsheet and the VAC profile. As usual, the latest versions of the game and the listed software and addons at the time of editing the opening post are covered.
  25. ChuWie, you're right about VAC. Thanks for pointing this out! I'll add mouse clicks to my VAC profile if I can work out how to do it. I have not tried any complex commands in VA. As long as the problem with the buttons remains unsolved I will continue to use VAC.
