Aircraft like the Apache should be flyable from either seat too, same with the weapons (although the gunner has better optics). There should be an option for co-pilots to take the controls. Perhaps similar to the ACE2 gear request? And obviously they should inherit the controls if the pilot is killed/badly wounded. You guys really think this is doable with the current engine? PS: On a similar note, it would be great if BIS could give control of the rockets to the pilot by default. It's never made sense having the gunner control fixed-axis weapons.

SpetznatsX, -
That's a matter of opinion though. I don't really enjoy using red dot sights, I love using Irons and ACOG/SUSAT, and prefer to fight without crosshairs with a little bit of float zone.

I used to use exactly that for the Huey Venom, couldn't see shit through the HUD.

Oh yes, big fun running off the Nogova peaks heading north through the forests. Or the massive cliffs at the coast. :D -

Good work on the Hellfires, they look spot on now. Just a shame we can't write messages on them. :D -
scale opinions needed for c-ram
Daniel replied to bwph4273's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Have you got a reference picture for that particular C-RAM model? Just that the gun and the radome look slightly out of proportion. I'm comparing it to this: http://www.murdoconline.net/pics/cram.jpg I have to say, i'm looking forward to the prospect of C-RAM in game. -
It's been used against enemy combatants in the open where rockets or cannon fire would have hit nearby buildings. It vaporised the enemy and the location is now known as Soggy Arm Field since that's all that was found. Since AGM-114K is laser guided it could have been a direct hit. Hellfire should be effective against single and tight formations of enemy troops. As ediko911 said, even if it's not a frag warhead, it still has a considerable blast, and shouldn't be treat like a SABOT. PS: Just recalled another case in Afghanistan where a British JTAC tasked a US Predator to hit a group of enemy with its single Hellfire. "The analysts in the US reckoned we'd killed seven outright, six were fatally wounded, and there were a lot more injuries." So there's thirteen at a minimum in one strike. Apparently UAVs use either the AGM-114R with blast fragmentation warhead, or the AGM-114P, which is similar to the K but used for higher altitudes. Since it was fired from 22,000 ft, i'm guessing it was likely the P-model tandem shaped charge HEAT we have modelled in game. Sources - Apache, Fire Strike 7/9, Wikipedia

I agree with myfloyd. Sound is even more important given the absence of the shock and vibration you might feel with a large calibre impact(s). It's sometimes possible to take catastrophic damage in aircraft and the only indication is your armour bar steadily decreasing. Although it has to be said real world pilots often don't realise they've taken hits until they return to base and notice the holes in their airframes... Perhaps a visual cue similar to artillery shock effects could be used in addition.

I'm more troubled by Pakistan's nuclear potential than Iran's. That is, the Taliban training and recruiting in a nuclear capable country. Scary stuff.

Need Sound FX - incoming artillery.
Daniel replied to Evil_Echo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Great sounds, but the way they follow the shells and play repeatedly is an immersion killer. Plus as EvilEcho pointed out, you still get a double Doppler effect. I wonder how a constant high pitched whistle would sound. -

I'd very much like to see this too. Have you tested using a single high pitched note and observed how it sounds in game? -

Mando Missile ArmA for ArmA 2
Daniel replied to mandoble's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hey Mando! Have you considered implementing the ROVER system to aid in airstrikes? It's basically a laptop uplink that allows JTACs (Controllers) on the ground to see through the aircraft's optics. I'm sure after seeing HuntIR and your weapon cameras in game that it's possible. Hope you take it into consideration and keep up the great work, Daniel -

Thanks for that, scary stuff. Impressive though. -
Visitor 4 and 3D mission editor would both be very much appreciated further down the line. The beauty of content based DLC is that it's still compatible with other content packs. An armour system would most likely change the engine or configs, therefore i'd rather see that come in a BIS patch or community mod than as paid for DLC. Mando Missiles and ACE2 both seem to have Hellfires covered nicely. EDIT: Not meaning to pick apart your post by the way. Those just caught my eye. :P

I'd personally say that's the better solution.

*Drops tinned troll food over the bridge* So FLIR isn't useful because you personally won't use it? Better start the petition for BIS to drop FLIR then...
