  1. "The ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead is the standalone expansion to ARMA 2 and do not require the original game in order to be played." Might want to fix those. ;) Great to see it finally updated, nonetheless. Never seen that screenshot before. Nice looking HMMWVs. :D
  2. That's just awesome, EricM! Definitely going to be using that on my OA box! :D
  3. I find that nowadays gamers have become very, very lazy, and this is coming from a 17 year old. The commands for BIS' games' interfaces are not at all hard to learn. If me, a kid at the age of 11, could memorize OFP's commanding keystrokes, then surely it's still possible for everyone else. The difference is that the modern gamer is so used to having his hand held in games. While the idea may or may not work, CarlGustaffa, the method you were trying to implement was just ridiculous. I understand it's an example, but if you're wanting something like that in the game then I'd much rather stick with the current system. Don't break something even further when it wasn't broken in the first place; just improve upon the winning formula.

New Beta build 70184 is up!

Yes, one thing I've noticed is that LODs are taking much longer to load, especially when you start a mission.

Nice one, Bardosy! Good to see it publicly released. ;)
  6. Volumetric clouds are already in Arma 2. Place down the Weather module and they'll appear. I'm pretty sure Cooper is American. His voice actor's always sounded American to me. Dressler does sound British, but I can't seem to think that he's trying to hide it. It is possible for Brits to join the US Marines, isn't it?
  7. "Final" in this case means "stable" and "official". These are just beta patches. It doesn't mean that it will be the last patch for Arma 2.

Steam sucks never buy from there

It was not given to Steam as the way that the old Steam patched games would cause the 1.05 patch to be several gigabytes big, rather than it's current size. So, BIS released it with a Steam-compatibility. I believe this issue has been rectified by Valve, so perhaps, as BOTA:49 states, 1.06 may be released on Steam. Also, I buy games from Steam and use it all the time. I never have any serious issues with it to say that it sucks.

New Beta build 70100 is up!

Interesting, that should be giving you pretty good performance. What framerates are you actually getting?
  10. My point is I hope this won't be like what they did with OFP:E, I.E. have a British voice actor put on a horribly done, fake American accent. In fact, this current voice actor sounds like that old one, just without trying to fake an accent. The one who played Berghoff in OFP:E.

New Beta build 70100 is up!

Sorry mate, but what exactly are your system's specifications? I.E. your operating system, your processor and it's speed, your RAM, your graphics card? I've noticed that Arma 2 doesn't scale-down very well. If I lower my settings I probably get a boost of about 5 FPS going from Very high to Very low. It's very odd. Thankfully my framerate is always above 20 at either setting, so I'm happy. I've also noticed that people with massive, impressive and costly rigs are getting very good performance in Arma 2, but not amazing performance. Again, I think this is because hardware just isn't at the level yet to give you such good performance in Arma 2. In 2 years or so from now, it will be, and we'll be rocketing ahead at 100 FPS or higher. So it makes sense that with current hardware, that if you upgraded from a system like mine to a more powerful one that you don't see a huge amount of difference.

New Beta build 70100 is up!

Nice... Avatar... InFireBaptize... :crazy_o: darthmuller_cro, if your PC is up to modern standards you should be able to play OFP flawlessly. I get upwards of 800 FPS with vsync disabled on it nowadays. In terms of ArmA and/or Arma 2, don't expect with current hardware to get ridiculous frames. Be happy with anything above 20 FPS. BIS build their games to last for years, so as hardware progresses, performance in their games drastically increase. Last time I played ArmA I was getting 100+ FPS on full settings with my current setup, whereas I was lucky to get 40 on my older rig. Arma 2 also doesn't require a high framerate to play well as it's not a twitch shooter, so FPS doesn't matter that much. But if you're experiencing framerates that your rig shouldn't be giving you, as in it's up to par to go above 20 FPS on high settings but is giving you 10 or something, then be sure to post your system specs and ingame settings and we'll see if we can isolate your problem for you to help you enjoy the game. :)
  14. Wow... It really is a British voice actor... :j: The other voices sound pretty good, though. Edit: Seems Bardosy's also got a hold of a copy of OA, then.

    Ambush!

It's just coming up as "Name" because the game hasn't loaded the mission's specific stringtable yet. If you load the mission, exit it and look, it all appears correctly. I think all you'll have to do to fix that is changing the stringtable names for the description and name.
  16. Then don't buy it? The rest of us will. And enjoy it, we shall.
  17. Not worth the money, though. ;) Aren't we going just a little offtopic?
  18. How can you seriously call OA "paid-for DLC"... MW2 Stimulus Package - 5 maps; 3 crap, 2 from COD4 - "paid-for DLC" Just Cause 2 DLC - couple of new gadgets that are "meh" - "paid-for DLC" "That other game's DLC" - bullshit - "paid-for DLC" ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead - 3 new islands, new campaign, new SP and MP missions, new editor modules, FLIR, significant HUD changes, new radio voices, new radio system, UAV drones, 5 new factions, the list goes on - Not "paid-for DLC". Seriously, if you think OA is on par with those other examples of "DLC"... What is this I don't even... :butbut:

Great to hear you're ok now, Jerry. Good to have you back. ;) Definitely looking forward to what you'll bring us in the future. Take all the time you need.

    Question about Steam

But please, for the sake of your mental health, resist the temptation! :butbut:
  21. Relax fellas, I highly doubt BIS is going to be releasing DLC that costs.
  22. All it takes is memorizing the keystrokes and it'll take you no time at all to issue an order. Rarely do I have to even look at the menus. For example, ~ - 4 - 1 orders my squad to disembark. ~ - 3 - 5 orders them to engage at will. ~ - 7 - 2 orders them into danger mode. These are just pulled off the top of my head. It doesn't take long to memorize the keystrokes. It came very intuitively for me. This radial menu will only complicate things further, in my opinion.
  23. BIS know that, so they won't. ;) Companies like EA, Activision, Codemasters, and Square Enix also know it, but they just completely ignore it as the only thing they focus on is the profit.

New Medal of Honor game trailer

    Definitely CGI.
  25. DLC never used to be pay-to-play on the PC. It's only money-whores like Activision and Square Enix which have started to try and milk us like cows. BIS knows the negative reception that would entail, so they won't do it. Unlike said companies, BIS care about their consumer base. ;)
