  1. Hi, I fully understand this decision. We also had this motivation loss and just because we have already invested so many hours of work, we will finish our Taunus project. But at the end some of the team members will also leave the Arma Community. As you say, enough is enough :( Silola
  2. In the meanwhile I like the new lighting, but only at midday :) But at early morning, for example, it looks horrible :o ... that's my opinion. Full album: http://imgur.com/a/S5dlC Silola
  3. Hi, it's nice to be a bird ... Full album 1 : http://imgur.com/a/kUmpB Full album 2 : http://imgur.com/a/zPno6 Silola
  4. Hmm....don't have such a problem, but I've no APEX installed.
  5. Shit ... forgotten to add rivers ... damn ... sorry my fault.
  6. Save your money for new hardware ...
  7. Yes ... it's instinct combined with a large amount of creativity. Basicly the main reference point is the sat map of couse. So if there is an area with vegetation visible, we create vegetation, if we can see some areas with structures, for example, we build structures and so on ... but without any template or specification. But I can not imagine to create this diversity and variation without X-Cam. Maybe possible, but Taunus would not exist without X-Cam. Silola
  8. Many thanks, also in the name of the whole team :)
  9. It's so hard to hold up the motivation every damn day :( Full album: http://imgur.com/a/O5hCn Greetings Silola
  10. Hey, the main reason for taunus was to create a nice looking battleground for our own needs, but release it to the community too. We know ... with such a mega detailed map u will need a PC with respective hardware. Sometimes we play a DAC mission @Taunus and it's works absolutly ok for us ... so the main goal is reached ;) It's like a new game ... if u play a new game (with maximum details) with an 5 years old PC ... it sucks and u have exactly 3 options: 1. buy new hardware 2. reduce some settings ... viewdistance for example 3. deinstallation But as I said long time ago ... I will try to create a second version of this map with low details ... for guys with hardware like a C64 ;) Silola
  11. Basicly ... the more objects/geometry are visible, the more work is needed for the CPU and GPU. Taunus performes not like Takistan, because Takistan has much lower object density, for example. In order to get good framerates @Taunus ... reduce the viewdistance first !! You can't play Taunus@60FPS unless you use 500m viewdistance ;) For me it's working like this: Viewdistance 2000m >>> 32-50 FPS >>> depending on the area I'm looking at (the most settings on hight/very hight) My system: i72600k@default >>> GTX 780 >>> 16GB Ram >>> @1920x1080 Silola
  12. Thanks for reporting. I will check this out. That's not a bug. It's depending on the internal reference position of the respective object type. Somtimes it fits perfectly, sometimes not :( Silola
  13. Hi, today we will reach 5 Mio X-Cam-placed objects ... Full album: http://imgur.com/a/8zQ9l Silola

  15. Hey Mauler, I think you don't know what your name "Mauler" means in Germany? Someone who has allways any complaints. So I'm glad you are not such a person ;) Many Thanks ! Silola
  16. Many Thanks :) @dscha: nice idea. Do u have created these color variants by your self? Silola
  17. THANKS for all the nice comments :) Silola

  19. I know this bug, but I can't fix it ... sorry :(
  20. ... please delete the following file in order to reset all the window positions: ...\Arma 3\@inidbi\db\xCam\xCamWindows.ini Silola
  21. ... we have not found any solution and we are still disappointed by the lightning. Especially the shadow-representation looks very bad (it looks not like a modern game), but that's just our personal impression. We have just realized that there is no proper solution available for all our problems. Silola
  22. Hi, we've tried a lot of things and settings and I've changed the detail textures and the clutter objects a bit, but that's the maximum you can expect I think. Hope you like it. Full album: http://imgur.com/a/wA2rL Silola
  23. Hi, thanks for the discussion. Please note ... we don't want to cancel the Taunus project, but yes ... we are a bit disapointed about the new visuals and that's the reason for the current break ... it's more a de-motivation thing. We know, the larger part of the community likes the new visuals, and we also like many parts of it, but there are some things we don't like ... that's all ;) And of course ... we had tested an early dev version with the new visuals, but belive me... we have recently believed that these color shifts, the color disharmony and this terrible shadows would never released in this form. We had the hope that everything will be fine after release of the RC version. If our map is the only one in the community, which would have these problems, I would say it's okay if we contact BI, so that we get some relevant tips, etc. But in my opinion there is a fundamental problem and when I imagine, each Mapper with the same problem would contact BI in order to ask for a solution ... I guess BI goes crazy then. So, why the hell there is no "temporary step by step solution" available (made by BI), because only the developers exaclty know which parameters have to be changed in order to get a better result ... a result near the old Arma version. I don't believe, that the problems can be solved by simpley changing some config values or something like this. I've tested many different maps in the past days (all maps with updated configs for 1.60), but all these maps looks horrible like Taunus in connection to the shadows and the color harmony (my personal impression): I belive it's a kind of an engine, rendering whatever problem ... very especially the shadow problems. For me ... a visual improvement would been to increase the shadowmap resolution and at the same time to lift the shadow viewdistance, for example, because this part of the engine looks not very modern, not realy improved since Arma 1 ... very sad in my opinion :( At the end we hope for a fix or somthing like that, to get the old feeling back @Taunus (yes, we feel it ;)). Thanks for understanding !!! Silola
  24. Hi, as I said ... we stopped the work, we don't canceled the whole project. Most of the team members (maybe all) don't like to go on with the work, because it makes no fun anymore. Before the update, we "feel" the map and it was so much fun to walk or fly around and, of course, to work on this beauty, but now ... this feeling is gone....sorry :( Today I've installed the CUP complete version ( hoping to notice a difference compared to AiA), but the result is overall the same. The good news beside, Taunus works also perfect with this addon (not checked in detail), so that's the positive thing today ;) Silola
