Russian Airborne troops (VDV) package.
spooky lynx replied to SMERSH's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Is there any progress? -
Waiting for somebody who will share it :) And what is available in it? What units/terrain?
-
I don't know EU or US laws which regulate this part of trade, but in my country you can return such game only if the disk is damaged while being transported to the shop or in it. If it has physical damage. In the other ways (bugs, poor models/textures/storyline) you have no ability to return money. So if you prove that disk is damaged not by you - the shop will return its cost.

ZOMG! Top quality, as always! -
The best DRM is the quality of product :) To be honest, for the first time I played pirated Half-Life 2. But when I tried and tasted it, I bought steam version. And did the same with all Episodes, CS:S and DoD:S. And will buy only licensed cpoy of Episode 3. Authorities care about gamedevs' and publishers' right, intellectual property and income. But who cares about customer's right of receiving full info about the any game he wants or right to get back his money if he is not satisfied with the game?
-
It looks like you know nothing about laws and patent system that was in USSR.
-
I can understand gamedevs and publishers caring about protection of their rights. Friendly speaking, they are violated often. But when they care mostly about their rights but not about the quality of their product - it will only rise amounts of cracked games. And paying so much attention to different DRM systems they don't care about providing demo versions to all games before its releases. So customer would try any game he wants before spending his/her money. And now there is a kind of dishonesty in "game creators - cusomers" relations, when customer can be punished for cracking or using cracked product, but game creator at the same time may not give any demo versions of their products. Even if the customer can not return the game if he is not satisfied with it. Nearest example - OFPDR.
-
Hmm... Maybe I am mistaken, but now I feel that game devs and publishers think mostly about profit but not about the game quality. It looks like they think the only way to raise their efforts is to make another kind of DRM. FAIL. Make really top-quality games and gamers will praise you by bying thousands of its copies. Game development is not the best way to become wealthy. It should be art but not industry. And the source of profit should be the quality of product but not another DRM trying to decrease piracy level. Heh, steam is mentioned... I can say tons of rude words to its developers:mad: I'm not against online activation, but I'm absolutely against inability to play SP Half-Life and its mods without some unknown updates and often just without internet connection!

Only sovietic? Not US (Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Haiti, Iraq, Somalia, Bosnia, Yugoslavia), not British and French (Egypt in 1956, Vietnam again)? I'd rather call it dialectics of every global-leading country.
-
But UK often participates in all US "adventures" like Operation Iraqi Freedom. No matter, if there was real necessity for UK to invade Iraq.
-
All of them. They were officially recognised by UN. Friendly speaking, there are not many really independent countries in the world. Most of others are somebody's satellites and have to behave in the manner, which does not differ with that of the regional (or global) leading countries. But, speaking about Afghanistan, formally there is no reasons to call it "colony" - it had all branches of power, the army, the laws and all other things that independent country has. And if you doubt in it - so look at the Great Britain and some other EU countries and its foreign policy, how it is close to US one. Is it the reason to doubt in the independence of the UK?
-
Yes, you are right in one moment: USSR didn't invade Afghanistan because the 40-th Army deployment was coordinated with legitimate afghan government. And soviet troops often co-operated with afghan army. And if you have read my post, you should notice that I've said about troops deployment - it was a mistake. The afghan army should do all the job, but not soviet.
-
There were enough in-country enemies of Taliban. The best you could do is to provide them with money, weapons and some military advisors. This way westerners would be treated as some kind of helpers. The former Soviet Union acted this way untill 1979, and this was the time of the most warm relations between afghans and us. We were the people who just help them to solve their problems. But when we entered their country, even as military supporters for government army, we became the invaders for many afghans. And this was our main mistake. The coalition had made just the same mistake as we did in the end of 1979 year.
-
Afghans should be left alone with their problems - this was said for many times by themselves. Only they can solve most of the problems, although the methods they will use may look weird and inhumane for europeans. But it's the only way out.

As I see, "to-do-list" is too long in some cases. And, unfortunately, only few of its points gets released finally. -
Arma 2 1.06 Patch Suggestions
spooky lynx replied to Archamedes's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I have one suggestion - the turning speed of tracked vehicles should be slower, so the AI would turn not the whole tank or APC to the enemy so quickly. -

T-50? Well... As there are only few photos of it, I think the result will be "something like T-50". As I remember, there is already large list of planes-to-do. -
Why nonsense? Don't you think that speed of information exchange and ability to get it haven't changed through this time? One of the most fast-developed economics nowadays with growing gold-currency reserves, isn't it success? I hope there will be no need for another revolution.

You shouldn't compare 18th and the end of 20th centuries. At that times it was rather hard to access to other countries' experience, law systems, economic doctrine and other information. Now it is very easy to get such information and use it in own country. So, what was needed 40-50 years to take effects in 17xx years, now needs 4-5 times shorter. One notice: so-called communist state (I mean what was USSR) could be a stable and successful itself. Without turning to capitalism totally, but gaining some of its sides in economy. Sorry, but I would say that we don't have democratic system at all. Oligarchy and plutocracy - maybe, but not democracy.
-
Well, what's done - is done. The only way out - to move further.
-
Hm... I shoudn't say so, because I can compare life before 1991 and after. Before 1991 income structure in my country was far more balanced than now. Next year there will be 20 years as new democratic Russia exists. And still we almost don't have so called middle-class - the basis of truly socially-oriented and democratic society.

So lets come back to the subject. Found a bug in desert Scimitar w/slat armor: while turning out crew, camera appears under the hull and crew becames invisible. Only opened hatches.

More patches, especially with additional content = more interest to the game = more sold copies. Even now I see old good OFP in some shops. BTW, you don't see one little moment: all this takes a significant amount of time to modmaker, who does it having less skills and less time than professional gamedev.
