Maybe it was already told here but I'd say that all additional content producing should be left to the community (with sharing sample models of vanilla units). And BI developers would better focus all their attention on polishing vanilla units and game engine - there are a lot of issues to solve in original content.

Full-scale conventional warfare is still too large for A2 scales, unfortunately. No space for real artillery ranges, jets and especially cargo planes. Not so much units can be used at the same time without serious fps drop. Just imagine regiment vs regiment battle even without air support at the Chernarus map. So I'd vote for some counter-insurgents style battles.

Why hypothetical? Actually there were some situations that can provide rather good information for such discussions. I mean some conflicts in which eastern and western hardware was used by nearly equally trained and motivated personnel.

Chechen War Russians
spooky lynx replied to johncage's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Uniform that had been used during 1st chechen war is either VSR-93 (armor vest textures represent it) or old soviet uniform (so called afghanka in both summer and winter variants and KZM/KLMK summer uniforms). -
Those marines must thank God that they faced not well trained Iraqis.

VILAS addons release thread

Tantal and AK-74 use the same magazines, I've seen Tantal picture with dark plastic mag that is used with AK-74. Also I suppose AK-101/-102 and Beryl mags are common - they're based on 5.45 mm AK-74 (and its polish modification) so I doubt that the same caliber change was made differently in Russia and Poland. -

What about 5.56 bulgarian and Zastava variants? Do they use own magazines or can be feeded with stanag ones? -

Just for easy replacement of some NATO rifles by AKs when it is needed. -
With all that amount of listed issues in CIT I shouldn't say that any other DLC development is a good idea.

Russia, return or someone new?
spooky lynx replied to stupidwhitekid75's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Especially in 1994-1996, when chechens had everything from rifles to 152-mm self-propellered howitzers and Grad systems. -
Units cant find their formation - Walk in circles
spooky lynx replied to igneous01's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I have this too, mentioned it only when column-like formations are set. -

Very glad to see another update:) One mention: please make 5.56 AK variants compartible with standart A2 5.56 stanag mags. -
Yes, Cloverfield, 'War of worlds'-style lightnings, giant spaceships and air battles a-la 'Independence Day' and so on.

The only noticeable things I liked in this movie are appartments interior design details, will use them in my own home. The rest of content I've seen in other movies.

6 DLC Suggestions (incl. USMC) POLL
spooky lynx replied to instagoat's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Voted for insurgents because I doubt much that BIS will ever be able to represent actual and accurate TO&E of some real army. -
I wish I could have the same 'pain in the ass'

North Korea shells the South, South retaliates

They're backed with some other army. -
Another modernisation of old good T-72 which proves its reliability in desert (and many other) environment from early 80's till nowadays:) The newest iraqi tank was equivalent of soviet T-72A, which was designed in late 70's. And ammo that used most of those tanks was even older than tanks themselves. Some of T-72's (M1 version) were modified with add-on hull armor but there were not so much of such urgraded tanks.

I read all that is written about this cuts and remember my childhood. In early 90-s we were told that we don't need powerful army because cold war is over and there would be no treats at all an nowhere, we don't need that 'huge' and 'enormous' amount of military hardware, infrastructure and well-trained personnel, we don't need single engine jets (MiG-23/-27, Su-17) because they are totally unsafe... And then war in Caucasian region has started.

If BWMod team stopped developing mod, maybe it will give permission for some other person who will fix those bugs?

Well, sometimes it's better to commit suicide for pedophiles rather than to go to jail. In my country's jails all those who are convicted in pedophilia or child abuse are forced to become passive gays.

spooky lynx replied to vilas's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Thanks a lot for update:) I think some more units should be in Soviet army branch of P85 - machinegunner and RPG soldier assistants in body armor and VDV&Spetsnaz machinegunners with PK. ...and, maybe an APC variant of MTLB? -
All this looks almost like massive decrease of Russian armed forces since 1992. And what about its maneuvreability at low-level altitudes and rather small dimensions? And the most significant advantage - short or vertical take-off that is very useful in afghan terrain? It's quite a big target for insurgents air defence, like Su-17 was in 1980-1989. And it's too fast for CAS in mountain terrain where targets are well fortified and hidden.

Harriers will be retired next year? Hm... I shouldn't say Tornados or Typhoons will manage Harrier's duties well.

North Korea shells the South, South retaliates
spooky lynx replied to madrussian's topic in OFFTOPIC
Korean terrain itself makes difficult to spot enemy armor or artillery. Especially if it is mobile and crewed by well-trained personnel.
