I have not been able to get the game to run since the release of Apex. Quite some time back I pre-purchased Apex back when I was still running Windows on a second partition. Since then I have gone 100% Linux and I would like to play ArmA3. Adding -world="Altis" was enough to have the game start and run. It would appear that once you load the game with the old "world" that is enough to get over the issues I was having. So thank you very much for your help. If this thread could be marks as solved it might help others in the same situation.

Having an issue, the missions are not showing up. Download and extract to the MPMissions folder along with all of the other missions I have downloaded. When I host, get to the list of available missions but the two "Silent Justice" missions are not on the list. I was hopping to do a YouTube play through today as I have done for other versions of this mission for ArmA 2...

Here is my take on playing it solo with supporting AI... -
Spent a couple of hours on this today having not seen it before. Real solid game play, I had so much fun with this. Big thank-you to the maker of this campaign.... :)

[SP] Occupation -- a raging conflict
pendragonuk replied to inlesco's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
From a game play perspective, it would be real nice to have a medic in the squad. Save points after completion of individual objectives. It would also be nice if the objectives were listed in order or could be added in turn as each previous one is completed. The option to swap to living squad member to continue the mission without having to return to the beginning if save points are not to be included. But so far so good, real enjoyable game. -

No great surprise as your computer is several times more powerful than mine LoL Would have cost a fair bit more too  -
Anti-aliasing settings question
pendragonuk replied to dukenukem.'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
An alternative as you are running a 6000 Series card. Go to the driver options in the AMD control centre and turn on Morphological Filtering, Turn off AA in game but bump up the 3D rez -
Thanks for the profile...

ArmaHolic ArmA 2 Optimization
pendragonuk replied to Fox '09's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
thanks, I had almost forgotten about that post, it's a few months old. I have my rig running the game quite sweetly now. Much to the help of the guys on the forum. These are my current settings and I'm getting 55-57fps on the first benchmarks low 70's on the Takistan benchmarks so I guess I'm doing something right. By pendragonuk at 2011-08-10 -
I do think they could do with some competition as they are hellishly expensive. However I do love mine, the justification I use is it's still cheaper than a triple monitor setup! Just about the only thing I dislike is having to wear either a hat or headphones. I might see if I can get the Pro-clip to attach my glasses... PS: A link to a good ArmA profile would be good

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
pendragonuk replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I agree that should run the game well, some of the LOD issues will go if you can get ArmA on to the SSD. You have to be ruthless with the other programs that automatically install on the C: drive. I have used a program called "steam mover" to shunt things about from drive to drive but still have them run correctly. When setting the game up the thing to remember is that "normal" is Normal! I have a friend with a less than stellar PC and he like flying and want a long view distance. He has turned off shadows. He spends most of his time in the air and has little use for them. I spend all of my time with my boots on the ground so run the game with much higher settings but with a sub 2K view distance so it all looks lush. -

It's the view distance that is the killer. I can get mid 50's on the benchmark but my view distance is set to less than 2K. I spend most of my time on foot so I see little advantage to having a very high view distance. It would be different if I spent a lot of time flying. -
Just for fun I started the Civilian life in single player. Jumped in to a Skoda and drove north, I topped of the fuel at the last station before the long trek in search of the edge of the map. It felt like being in the Paris Dakar, which gives me an idea for a mission... Anyhow I ran out of fuel long before I ran out of terrain to drive on.

Back when we all ran CRT Monitors you had the flexibility to run at lower screen rez. Thing is most flat panel monitors don't like running and anything other than the native screen rez. This option lets you mess about with things more. As has been said before if you computer is weak you can run a the native rez of your monitor but run the game at a lower rez. This looks a bit crap but will make life easer on your hardware. Most people would say you should run at 100% but if you can't you can't. It might make the difference for some people. As with a lot of things with this game having a full range of settings allow you to find your own compromises. By lowering the 3D rez you might be able to turn other things up, you could mask some of the "nastiness" with post-processing. I have read that ATI's don't handle the AA settings too well. So if you have the power you can set the 3D rez higher than the screen rez and get a sort of whole screen AA going for you. I have done some testing and found the in-game setting for AA to cause too many problems so I have it off. Morphological filtering ON in the driver profile and the 3D rez set to 125%. I see only a small drop in fps (5fps) but things like power lines look much much better than with 3D set to 100% and AA off. Now that works for me, I'm not saying it will work for everyone, that's part of the compromise I was talking about...

Ok OK it's silly but here's a sensible question, well a couple... :butbut: How far dose the terrain go? Can mission objects be placed in the wilderness? As I said in my original post, it felt like a desert rally. If objects could be placed you could put in refuelling and check points make a mission of it. Navigating from point to point set it to Veteran to make it more interesting. If you set it up with way-points you could get AI drivers to compete against. Anyhow just an idea

ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
pendragonuk replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well if changing graphics settings are having no effect then it's not the graphics card. Simple logic but we have years of experience getting games to run smoothly on our computer and it's always the graphics card :) The low frame rate is a symptom of the whole game running slowly. There are a couple of things to look at here. One is your CPU, ArmA suffers badly on computers that lack a very strong CPU. The other is the server you are playing on. If the server doesn't have the power to run loads of AI then the server admin needs to have a look at he type of mission he is running. With my server simple, low scripted missions run real well, even with lots of players. However if I run a heavily scripted mission the more complex the situation the slow it runs. I know what to expect from my PC, (client) and when I see my fps drop I know it's the server struggling rather than my home computer. -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
pendragonuk replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
The best thing to do is try not to get hung up on the performance and enjoy the game. Set it up so it never drops below 30fps and then never check again... -
Rejenorst's Missions [SP/MP/COOP]
pendragonuk replied to rejenorst's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Just finished a complete play through to mission end. wow what a great mission thank you. The medics do heal you but I never say the option the bandage a wound. Also I was getting very low on ammo towards the end of the mission but then that adds to the realism. I can see with the addition if a revive script, this mission making a great coop mission. It took a while to get used to "not" being in charge, but I loved the game play again thanks... -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
pendragonuk replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
If you read a couple of the posts above your you might get an idea of what to expect. Pointers: Overclock your CPU as fast as she will go and still be stable. As you have a nice ATI G/Card have a look at the AMD driver settings and turn on the "Morphological filtering" Turn AA off but Antistropic on to max. These are my settings and I'll be honest it would appear they we are getting very similar results. Out in the back of beyond I'll get 130fps, in the woods 60fps in town 40fps in a battle 25-30fps Sometimes online when it's getting bad it will drop below 25fps. Some of this may be the server you are playing on lagging due to the complexity of running the AI. Some of it is that you are running a lot of AI. (set your screen rez and 3D rez to match your monitor) I have just finish playing a single player mission called Martyrdom in Zargabad. There are quite a few AI in this mission but at no point did the frame rate drop below 40fps. It was very playable... and that is sort of the point with ArmA, you don't need super high fps like you would in other shooter games.
