  1. Follow-up: Using the new nVidia drivers now. Driver crashes seem less frequent but I still get them on occasion. So I'm not sure if the issue is nVidia's or BIS, though I never get driver crashes with other games, so I feel like it's (at minimum) BIS, possibly some of both.

    New beta 71900 is up!(OA)

I just started using the new 258.96 WHQL-candidate drivers and this AF problem seems to be fixed. I can see a difference when I switch from Disabled to Very High now in OA.

    out of memory crash

Regarding changing VRAM values in the cfg, Suma has already confirmed in another thread that this does nothing, as the game only writes these values on first launch but never uses them.
  4. Those of you with nVidia cards, try the new WHQL-candidate 258.96 drivers here. They seem to help prevent the issue for me, though I've only run through one whole mission as a test, but I tried the same mission before with older drivers and had the driver die almost immediately, so this is promising.
  5. Well, instead of rolling back yet I just tried the new WHQL-candidate 258.96 drivers here. So far, I've not gotten the driver death that I had gotten with 257.21 and 258.69. Managed to play through an entire SP mission without issue, so this is a good thing IMO.

Devs time for a 64BIT version???

So by disabling the page file and disabling this PagingExecutive setting, you are able to play ArmA2 and other games stably without a page file? Because as soon as I disable mine I start to get Out of Memory errors in ArmA2. Also, thanks for the clarification about 64-bit, Suma. I guess it feels to us like the game is not utilizing enough RAM because of all the LOD swapping and stutter issues. Maybe that is more VRAM related, though.

    Latest Beta Patch: 72018

Actually, no. BIS often fixes other issues and tweaks things that are not listed in the changelog.
  8. Going to give them a shot here pretty soon before I roll back...the beta drivers before these are giving me driver crashes all the time in OA.
  9. Cool, I am going to try that first thing when I get home tomorrow.

Devs time for a 64BIT version???

I definitely agree with 64-bit support. The next version of Windows isn't even going to have a 32-bit version. LAA is a step in the right direction and did help to lessen the out of memory crashes (for me, anyway) but, as currently implemented, it really does nothing to allow the usage of more than ~1.5 GB of RAM. I also realize that not many other games have native 64-bit support, but ArmA2 is not like most games. It really, really needs that extra RAM for how much data streaming it does.
  11. Awesome, thanks so much for the followup. You rolled back to 197.55 correct?

    Which SSD for Arma2/OA?

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for. :D I would like to, but DDR3 is quite expensive at the moment. Believe me, if I could afford it I would.

    OA Mission E04: Jackal

No, it should appear almost instantly with no special animation.
  14. I'm on the betas now and they don't work well for me at all with OA, constant driver crashes.
  15. Which driver are you referring to? 197.55 or whatever? I've been thinking about rolling back because I've been getting constant instances of the drivers crashing with ArmA2/OA. Though oddly enough I never had a problem with this with the 257.21 drivers and ArmA2 prior to 1.07.

    New beta for OA 71952

Will do, am away from my main rig this weekend but on Monday or Tuesday I will do it first thing.

    Which SSD for Arma2/OA?

Yeah, well right now that's what I have is the OS, page file, and ArmA2 running off the SSD (and other apps), and everything else on a WD Black 1 TB. I was just wondering if it would be worth it performance-wise to have the OS on a different drive and have ArmA2 alone (or with a few other games) on the SSD. I like having the OS on there for the boot times but if I could get a good performance boost in ArmA2 by giving it to the SSD alone then I might consider it, or consider getting another smaller SSD. That was my original question.

    ArmA 2 AC130

That'd be sweet. They already have the C-130 IIRC. Just need to add some weapons on that bad boy and we'd have some ultimate air support.

    Anti aliasing problem

Yeah, having your 3D Res set that much higher than your Interface Res is going to create a faux-AA situation and probably make things looks slightly blurrier.
  20. Any news on this? I've been thinking about rolling back but I don't want to if it's not going to fix the problem.
  21. Not recently, but in the past ArmA2 1.05 and betas Default always performed WAY better for me. Very High resulted in massive stutter as well as LOD issues and decreasing performance over time. I think maybe I will give Very High a shot in OA and after the latest ArmA2 patch just for the hell of it, though Default has been working fine for me.

    Which SSD for Arma2/OA?

So I brought this thread back up and asked a question and thus far after a dozen or so replies no one has answered it. :(

    Knife proposal

I don't really think running around knifing people is a realistic strategy in most wartime scenarios. Maybe for some super-covert operation, but this game is more about teamwork for the most part. Don't really see the need for a knife. A silenced pistol should do just as well.
