So I installed the latest nvidia drivers(258.96) to get a profile for OA, and now my OFP crashes. :( The drivers recover from the crash i.e. I lose signal to the screen for about 15 second and then get it back. It is somewhat random in occurrence. It can happen once every 30 minutes or once every few minutes. Has anyone else had this problem? Or can think of a possible fix?

  3. Put Texture Detail to Very High, place yourself in the centre of Chernogorsk on Chernasus, weapon zoomed, and spin around really fast. You might have to try a few different locations in the town. What I see is severe texture popup. 2x1GB GPU ram is not enough to cache all the very high detail textures. The texture loading seems to have a real bottleneck. If ArmAOA could access more system ram than 2GB, would the situation be improved? I assume the delay comes from having to stream the textures from the hard disk cache. Does anyone have a rig for which they do not experience this at all? I am curious what their machine specs are and what settings they are using. i7 920 default clocking, HT disabled, 6GB ram SLIx2 gtx285 1GB ram Vista Ultimate 64

  5. i wrote "gerbil" because i was frustrated. sancs post is wrt using a ded server for mp testing but in my specific case i needed to have more than one client connected at the same time to test a script. so i don't see how sanc's answer applied. no one seems to know for certain whether this activates fade or not. meh. i will just blame all my terrible game play ability on fade now.
  6. Okay. So I ran two instances of OFP on the same pc, one was non-ded server, one was client. I needed to test an MP script that required two players connected. I got the dreaded FADE message. Is my copy of OFP now farked? I searched both this and the OFPEC forum and could not find a definitive answer to this question.
  7. Anyone know if this situation has changed?edit: Meh. Finally got Combined Ops. Reinstalled ArmA2 and then installed OA, patched up, and then upgraded drivers(after full driver cleaning) to most recent version 258.96. OA - Get terrible terrible texture popup in the large city on Chernasus, often starting with no textures at all. Most common when zoomed in and turning quickly. So now it is back to the drawing board: read thousands of posts looking for the suggestions to help improve performance. It can be fixed, I am certain, but having to spend hours of reading and experimenting to do so is frustrating. I am a casual gamer and having to go through this process (again) is a serious deterrent. I got reasonable performance in A2 but never up to my hardware specs, hardware I bought specifically to play A2. I have also experienced a CTD, but I am hoping it is related to Maverick's post-processing issue.   8. this situation is what i would call a dog's breakfast... i will soon be getting my copy of combined ops and will have to upgrade a linux server from arma2 to oa. i am not looking forward to it when there are no clear instructions.

  10. I am having some problems on a linux dedicated server with the *.arma2profile. If I do not use the -profiles option, what is the default location of the profile file the server will use? If I use -name=poohatch, will the location be poohatch/poohatch.arma2profile or simply poohatch.arma2profile? Must the Difficulties classes be named "Recruit/Regular/Veteran/Expert" or are the names customisable? Must there be four Difficulties classes? Is it possible to have only one difficulty?

  12. When I played OFP on OGN back in 2002-2003, I was dismayed at how infrequently coop missions were selected. Was always dm, c&h, ctf, or (shudder) cti.
  13. stderr and stdout do not indicate anything out of the ordinary on ArmA2 startup. Our OFP server does not take more than a second or two to start. The machine probably has some VM limitations; it is also our web server. I don't know the finer setup details. The machine is donated/maintained by a clan member and I am not a linux sysop, but a linux user with a little peripheral knowledge. Thanks for your answers.

  16. Thanks for answers. I did not know that the linux ded server would create the profile on the fly. Had I known, I obviously wouldn't have asked my question. Plus, given that the linux ded takes 15-20 minutes to spin up, I did not want to prevent people from playing on the server for any longer than I had to. Each experiment takes away a little game time.The BIKI link says types are Recruit/Regular/Veteran/Mercenary. The Kelley's Heroes example gives Recruit/Regular/Veteran/Expert.

    My clan would like to use a rucksack addon(not sure which whether WGL or MAPFACT). Are the weapon and magazine names finalised? I would like to add them to the ruck classes.

    Drongo. Did you ever deal with the issue of helicopters crashing into hills? I have a very small low resource script that can help with this problem, without affecting the AI. Tall buildings, however, are another kettle. Might work for fixed wing aircraft, but I haven't tried that.

    Hmm. I will try again. My gun was not even in the lowered(but pointing forward) position while sprinting and tapping just brought up the reticle for a half second. I'll try again only with WW4 loaded and see where I went wrong. Left mouse button to tap I presume.edit: Okay. Now I see. It works with "Move Forward", but not "Fast Forward", and I had my forward key bound to "Fast Forward". I never use "Move Forward" except at the top of radio tower ladders. :)

    Thanks! Edit: Wow. This pack is amazing. Will wait for 2.0 for ECP compatibility though. Edit2: Cut and pasted all keybind text and added (Must Hold Keys) for AT moves. When I tap mouse while sprinting my weapon comes up and then goes right down again, barely have time to get one shot off, which hits the ground about 10 m ahead of me to my left. Am I doing something wrong?

    Okay. Thanks for the replies. Now to search this thread for the keybinds... :P edit: Are these the only ones? And I have to ask, because our clan does not flip-flop addons about, is there another version coming out, or should I treat this version as the final release?

    How does this mod perform in MP on a ded server? Do the custom animations/moves present any problems? And why are the keybinds for the new moves not in the readme?

    zombies update

    Okay, so I added all player units to the global target array after a five second pause in the init.sqs (after global init finished) and now all zombies are active on ded server. Don't know what I screwed up before. Now my OFP crashes after a few minutes of running around. Looks like a segfault in OFP. I am testing on Chernobyl Zone island which has a lot of detailed objects. Do you know if having too many zombies might cause OFP client to crash? I had five active hellgates. The zombie control scripts are server side, so that should not be the problem. Has anyone in your clan experienced this? edit: same map with only one hellgate does not crash... :(
