  1. :yay::yay::yay::yay: - We would like to thank all BI developers, BIF & CIT staff/mods/volunteers, whole ARMA community, our partners and everyone who helped us throughout entire 2011 and especially who contributed in any way to the most recent releases: Arma 2 Multi-Update Take On Helicopters Update 1.03 Merry Christmas time, great holidays and Happy New Year 2012!
  2. Yes, final patch is a little bit different (better). Please make sure to get final 1.60 and update your Release Candidate. Changelog: * ca.pbo fixed for OA standalone * some last obsolete bi.bisign fixed in OA standalone Not massive difference but still probably worth getting to make sure everyone is on the same version.
  3. I would not expect the damaged patch to be the cause here. From what version are you exactly patching ?
  4. We did as much as we possibly could on this mega update. We consider it complete now and there is nothing more we can do before holidays now. So treat it as it is simply final patch and report only major installation issues or issues preventing this patch to be rolled out to everybody. Thanks to everyone involved, without help of so many of the community members, 1.60 would never be possible. Thank you
  5. Basic Java package that can be used from the engine looks like something like this:

will arma 2 FREE be patched too?

Arma 2 Free 1.11 patch will be available once Arma 2 1.11 is out as final. This patch will upgrade the exe only to make it compatible in mp with full Arma 2.
  7. Is this part of some official mp scenario?Any more info how to reproduce this?
  8. First of all, you need to wait for future Take On Helicopters update. This is future (not so distant...) technology being discussed.
  9. Few random remarks: the engine should be be able to run code written in any programming language that can compiled for Java Virtual Machine but we did not experiment with it so far ( quite few, Logo anyone ;) ) for now, bridge to all existing scripting commands is present it is possible create new scripting commands to take full advantage of JVM (performance, nicer interface) Arma 3 is going to build upon this technology, so if you can, Take On Java now and help us to shape it up
  10. Death camera sounds like regression, is it on cit anywhere? The other problem however does not and we do not plan any further new tweaks and fixes for 1.60 at this stage.
  11. Arma 2 CO/OA/RFT 1.60 Update RC3 is available now, it should be compatible with any previous version including RC1 and RC2: ftp://downloads.bistudio.com/arma2.com/update/ARMA2OA_Patch_160RC3.zip Mirrors: http://www.multiupload.com/BPC2JHGF2L MD5: 0acef21d1fdcf7ffe63e6a3caa7b606d Thanks to everyone involved, we are getting close to final state. * all signature problems should be gone finally * the official expansions are handled better using registry based system now, should make the in game expansions manager more useful than before As our plan is to release final 1.60 prior Christmas please focus on regressions or installation problems only at this stage. Note: this RC contains ARMA 2: OA update 1.60 ARMA 2 update 1.11 ARMA 2: BAF update 1.03 ARMA 2: PMC update 1.02
  12. There is new updated Arma 2 1.60 RC2 available for testing. Multiupload + 7 mirrors: http://www.multiupload.com/WA3OF923SB Please do not download this version unless you want us to help to test it. It should fix most of the issues found so far, however, we already know there will be at least one release candidate before the patch can get final green light. The plan is to have RC3 available early next week so that final 1.60 still makes it before Christmas. Most important fixes: * wrong BAF and PMC signatures * few more regressions introduced in 1.60 RC2 should be compatible with any previous version, including RC1 but if you encounter some problems, fresh reinstall may be best first step. Known issues still pending for RC3 * expansions included in registry (related: currently the official expansions are listed twice, their order can be manually changed which leads into other problems)
  13. It is certainly more complex than it looks. Objects are not only influenced by objects max visibility but also depending on scene complexity and density.
  14. IMPORTANT: Several major showstopper problems were already identified in this RC and we are working on new one atm. After 8 months of hard work, 10 centimeters of Suma's new hair and more than 50 public betas, I am happy to announce Arma 2 1.60 Release Candidate (533 MB, Arma 2 1.11 and Arma 2: BAF 1.03 updates are also included). Big thanks to all community members involved! Without your continuous support and high quality repro steps this massive Arma 2 update would be never possible. Beware: there was already identified a problem with the RC which can cause decreased performance, esp. with Vista or Windows XP OS. The "dll" folder, which should be located in the same folder as the game executable, is missing in the distribution. As a temprary workaround, until we release a new RC, you can either use the public beta with conjunction with this RC, or you can copy the dll folder from the beta from Expansion\beta to the game directory. iPhone variant?

Finally the iOS version It should be free to get and play, however 1.99 USD in app paid unlock is necessary to get access to all features.
  16. I was only kidding really. Sorry if it was not clear enough. I am always happy for any such improvements in the game, planned or spontaneous (the later is more fun and often leads into even better results). It may not seem important, it definitelly was not planned, but still it is cool step towards realism (as are insects, animals, real star constellations). Tomorrow, another beta with fix for A10 landing bug found, ground effect for helicopters will be improved to be more realistic (means stronger) than now. And despite it is completely different (much more realistic) flight model, ground effect in Take On is also receiving treatment for the next patch.
  17. I managed to gather more evidence. This allowed us to paint a portrait, that should allow us to find the individual: WANTED :don1: REWARD Now he should only hope that this "improvement" did not break anything. But even if it breaks anything, if you manage to identify it soon so that he still can fix it for final 1.60, it is much better than if it breaks final update release. His destiny is in your hands now.
  18. Help needed with testing: Please could everyone test aircraft, AI and player, especially take off and landing etc. as much as possible in this beta? I appreciate the effort and this great new improvement in Arma 2 flight model, I am worried it could break some aircraft procedures. I am currently investigating who is responsible for sneaking this new feature in the build so late in the patch 1.60 development.
  19. We will try to make RC2 and final 1.60 done in such way that it would work also on top of RC1. In any case, we are going to provide instructions how to make transition from RC1 as smooth as possible.
  20. But this example is not showing the most important purpose of new -beta command, which is to allow usage of in-game mod system also with beta: "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion
  21. It helps you to realize what the waypoint will actually do in the game. Ie go to the closest waypoint available instead... It makes the Cycle waypoint much more intuitive now. If the closest is the unit starting position, Cycle waypoint will make the unit move where it started and perform all waypoint all over again and again...
  22. I consider premium area on the forums for paying customers of the game as good idea overall. If nothing else, I am tempted to believe such sections may be more pleasant area of the forumsl. However, it is not too clear what specific subforum would benefit from this really. E.g. troubleshooting is certainly part that should be open and accessible.
  23. Yes, and I believe it was also clearly said: TBB 3 is going to be the default memory allocator for 1.60 (optional use of other already existing or even custom allocators is going to be possible as in the beta).
