ArmA2: Operation Arrowhead Impressions - ALL OA Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
Killerwatt replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I had a quick look at things last night just to be sure everything was working ok and I was still there four hours later! During a quick try in Multi player, A grenade went of just the other side of a wall to me. I wasnt expecting it and the effect was awsome:eek:. I almost shit myself with the camera shake and all. This morning I decided to configure my controls a bit better with regards my Logitech G25 for vehicles and my Sidewinder stick for aircraft. Holy crap! When did they put the analogue opption in? I had never notice that before and now the chopper is a joy to fly! I notice someone refered to a wavy screen to denote tiredness but despite running for quite a distance over mountainous terrain, I never experienced this. But I seem to remember wavy screen was mentioned on the forums as a symptom of Fade back when ArmA 2 was released. I'm not going to put any spoilers in here but I will say the time I spent in OA, it was an incredibly immersive experience and the time just flew by. I'm not having any performance issues and I am having the time of my gaming life with this. For anyone who enjoyes ArmA 2 and is still undecided, go and buy this game. You wont regret it. Well done BIS and Thanks for the great value you have provided. -
Not sure if this is by design but the Bradley slowed to under 10 mph going up just a slight incline. Maybe underpowered?

Ok I just increased my view distance to 3012 (nearest I could get it to 3000) and ran the benchmark two more times. First time the Chinook got blown up on its passover and at the end of the test I had 50 fps. On the second run things happened like my very first run with no damage to the Chinook. This time FPS was 49, so I have seen an average drop of 3.5 fps after increasing my view distance to 3012. Thats still ok in my book. -

I just tried the benchmark and it gave me an average of 53 fps so I am happy considering thats on an unclocked I7 920. I do however have a 2 gig video card could that be making a difference? video settings are texture, terrain, objects and video memory all on high. Shadow detail, Anisotropic filtering Anti Aliasing and post processing on normal and view distance of 1600 -
Hi All, My monitor is a 28 inch screen but the actual screen size is 23.5 inches wide by 14.75 inches high. Can someone please tell me what screen ratio I should be using? I currently play at a resolution of 1280x1024 with a ratio of 4:3. Also If I change my resolution, should I also change my ratio and if so to what? The way I am playing at the moment I cant help but feel the Humvees dont look quite the right shape. Thanks for any help and advice offered.

Well, by buying the sprocket version and also the boxed version from Amazon, BIS get a good return and I get both the printed map and hopefully a printed manual in the boxed version. So I call that a win win situation!

Yeah.... Its nearly half the price of a night out with the lads!:j: [sarcasm switch off]

Thanks for your help Guys .

Thanks for that Deadfast. I am running native at 1280 by 800. does that make any difference?

While waiting for my Sprocket activation, I was having a look in the directory and I found I now have two Battle Eye folders. One in the ArmA 2 root folder and one in the expansion/addons folder. Do I need to have both in there or should I remove one? -
Anyone else having problems with Sprocket download?

6.93 Gig is the same as mine. Just double click on the setup exe in the sprocket folder and it should do all the rest for you. -

Although I still cant activate my installation, I can tell you that the setup exe creates a shortcut called Arma 2 Combined Operations. So I imagine it allowes you to play both from the same shortcut. One thing I did notice when it was installing was that it re-installed the 1.07 patch. However when I check the properties of the OA exe, it comes up as file version number 1.52.71.612 -

I keep getting broken downloads and decided to try the downloader and went to bed. When I got up today, it had downloaded sprocket.exe. But when I click on that it says product is already downloaded? What can I do? Edit: Doh! I hadnt realised that it had downloaded the files into my documents folder. installing now! all seems ok but I will leave this post up in case anyone else makes the same mistake. -
Me too, but I will stick with the order as I pre-ordered from Sprocket aswell!:D

Bitching about other countries versions and prices is pointless. The bottom line is that the version I want to buy (english,) is priced at a fair amount for me. I am sure also that the price of the Russian only version is fair for the player in Russia who wants that version. -

“Despite the current state of the market in - what are historically - our core territories, I am fully confident that Zagoria Zdroj will persevere through this period of uncertainty by sticking to our core values. While other companies may boast to have the most realistic simulation of our product, there is no substitute for the real thing.†"We obviously need to look at different business models, and evaluate the most appropriate ways of getting our very popular product to market. Sometimes these moves can spark controversy; sometimes it's justified, sometimes it isn't. Ultimately, Our loyal customers need to appreciate that the company has always put the consumer at the heart of its business choices, and that is certainly not something that is going to change" Maybe that should go in the DLC thread lol -

Can we get back onto the topic of OA please? -
One great thing about the DLC will be that we wont have some modder whose nose got put out of joint withdrawing his permission to use his models in a particular mod cos of some imagined slight against his ego.

The Russian version of OA will be language locked. If your Russian version of ArmA2 is also language locked, then yes you may have problems mixing with English OA. But if your Russian ArmA2 has English included you will be ok I think. -
