ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead discussion thread
Killerwatt replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Zaxxon takes me back! My actual nick comes from the title of an old C64 game. Google "Killerwatt". -
I agree. If I had to criticise the grenades it would be that they have a bit to much bounce in them, especially after the first bounce. I think it should be more like one bounce then a small roll depending on the strength of throw.

I hope you show her due consideration and let her know how much you appreciate her effort.:) -
For crying out load...not even a keyboard guide!
Killerwatt replied to BeerHunter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
My (UK version) hard copy arrived today and it includes a 60 page manual and a separate keyboard guide. My sprocket copy contained a 60 PDF manual which incorporated a keyboard guide. If you didnt recieve a manual with your game then I can only suggest that is down to the distributers in your country rather than BIS. -

Video memory to high or very high was the recommended fix for this problem. I had that problem on a 2 gig video card till I set video memory to very high back in the early days of ArmA2 -
Didn't know that and I take your point Pufu. But I would also like to think that the devs look at the suggestions thread as well. Anyway 'nuff said, weapons rest in vanilla would be great.

With respect, he didnt talk about it endlessly on the forums. He posted a suggestion on the suggestions thread. Suggestions dont need to be ticketed as bugs or issues.

They have hands like bears? -
Ideally it would be great if the Green Sea area were available as one huge map but as we know that just isn't practical. But that wish got me thinking about possible anweres to thie problem, so how about this idea instead? I'm not sure what area of Takistan the mountains are in compared to Zargabad. but for arguments sake lets just say the mountains are to the north. As we travel into the infinite land heading south, would it be possible to have an option to save the state of the unit or group as it is and respawn it in the northern section of infinite land on the Zargabad map heading south towards the city? If this were possible it could also be done with Takistan and Chernorus heading east and west. or any other area BIS want to include in the future. Basicaly it would amount to saving a unit or groups state and depending on its direction of travel, inserting it on the right area of infinite terrain of your chosen destination for instance travelling south you respwan in the north infinite area. West, and you appear in the East infinite area and so on. You wouldn't have to spawn to far from the edge if the infinite terrain maybe just a few clicks. but it could open up lots of possibilities. Chernorussian invasion of Takistan from the east anyone? or how about more realistic transport flights for flying in reinforcements from whatever map you choose? What does everyone else think? Is it worth doing?

Do you prefer to beta test in Arrowhead or ArmA 2?
Killerwatt replied to suma's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
"Specifically, all ArmA 2 changes will be ported to Arrowhead eventually." Since that is the case, it makes more sense to do all testing on OA besides as the previous poster says, having seen the lighting I could never go back lol. Also the enterable buildings in Zargabad would suggest it may be better suited to testing of AI changes with regards to urban combat. Oh! And well Done BIS. you have released what can truly be described as a masterpiece to rival the original OFP -
Amazon.UK are shipping today.

And you are right, you will get yelled at.......for not putting up a descriptive title. :) -
Why is this a useless thread? Maybe some people want a weapon rest without having to put up with a restrictive fatigue system. Not everyone has to love ACE, no matter how good its claimed to be.

OA Controls, Crouch/Prone Toggle
Killerwatt replied to TovarishMimino's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Ah! Ive just tested it and no there isn't. editing my original post now. -
I hadn't noticed that either. Ive just had a look at it and its not bad but it could be improved. Instead of making the circle larger, if it started of at the 12 o'clock position and gradually changed the colour of the circle till the circle was complete (Make it transparent to start and then fill in with green), it would give the thrower a more accurate idea of the relative percentage of strength he was using. As it is now its hard to judge when circle is about to reach full size.

Hi All. It's great that the grenade throwing has been made more intuitive but how about going one step farther and giving us a little "strength meter" so we can judge how long to hold the mouse button. It doesn't have to be to intrusive, just a progressive thin line that extends under where the usual ammo readout appears in the top right while the button is held would be enough.

Hi all, Just thought I would post my specs and game settings to give you an idea of what you can expect with your own rigs. My sytem: Antec Nine Hundred Two Case, Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 Vapor-X 2GB, Akasa PowerMax 850W Power supply, Asus P6T Motherboard LGA1 366 Intel X58 ATX RAID SA, Intel Core i7-920 D0 Step Processor (8M Cache), Corsair XMS3 3GB (3x1024M B) DDR3 Memory 1600MHz, Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler SE1366, LG GH22NP20 22x DVDRW/ RAM, Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB Hard Disk Drive 72 (Two), SB Audigy SE OEM Creative Sound Blaster, Windows XP Home Edition. updated to SP3 No overclocking done and everything running at stock speeds but I disabled the soundcard and use the onboard sound. Game settings: Texture Detail= very high Video Memory= very high anisotropic filtering= normal antialiasing= normal terrain detail= very high object detail= very high shadow detail= high post processing= very low Quality preference= very high screen resolution= 1280:800 visibility= 3012 aspect ratio= 16-10 I ran the OA bench mark four times to give me an average and it gave me an average of 44.5 frames per second. That broke down to two tests at 45 and two tests at 44 in the following order. 1st test= 45fps 2nd test= 44fps 3rd test= 44fps 4th test= 45fps All in all I think that is not to bad considering there is no overclocking done on my system yet. I hope this will help some get an idea of what to expect and that the rest of you guys get as good performance on your systems. -
OA Controls, Crouch/Prone Toggle
Killerwatt replied to TovarishMimino's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
would be great if we could have three button functionality, EG. x=stand, 2*x=crouch and 3*x=prone. -
I've noticed that if you set your options and the game subsequently crashes then the options you set will not be saved. So its always better to set your options, quit the game and restart, then your options should be safe.

UK release dates for software is almost always on a Friday and this is no exception. To be honest I kinda figured this would happen, which is partly why I pre-ordered from both Sprocket and Amazon. Plus the fact I wanted the printed map this time along with a printed manual.

Should I buy from STEAM or Sprocket??
Killerwatt replied to Royal-Killer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
well considering that Steam makes you download the whole thing every time there is a new patch, I would strongly recomend sprocket for hassle free gaming.
