    Choppers - Too floaty/easy

    Somewhat agree, though the flightmodel, at least for the MH9/AH9, has been improved dramatically over all prev ArmA games - at long last you can strafe at speeds of 70-100 km/h! The floaty effect is somewhat exaggerated, because even with collective down I have trouble losing altitude. This is the only issue that I, and probably others in this thread, have with helos in A3A.

    AI in HMG vehicles too accurate against helis.

    It's meant to be that way, the AH9/LB isn't there to be a front-running, strafing machine. Gain a lot of ALT, then pick them off, since I think there's a limit on MG vertical tilt angle. Either way, you don't want to be on the level plane/elev with them.

    Have to say the muzzle flashes (esp the sparks from certain weapons), vehicle explosions/flash-detonation, smoke grenades & bullet dust kick-up are outstanding - very believable. Heat shimmer/distortion that is produced by vehicle engines is also great, a lot better than the one in Op Arrowhead, if that counts as particle effect. :) Smoke from explosions needs work, tho. :p

    At a high performance cost, but could be done with Nvidia's GPUs if BIS wants to pursuit that for the retail game & TWIMTBP.

    I think this would be best for the time being, seeing as not everyone is running dedicated servers/i7-3770Ks at 5 GHz, and the fact that we're in Alpha. 7-10 towns/villages/outposts with only 1 active at any one time would be great.

    I concur with the OP - there were several opportunities for close range in my experience already. "Takedown" - perhaps not a lethal one, but some sort of knockout instead if it's possible with the current engine modifications.

  14. Whoah there, they kinda confirmed Steamworks implementation in their February Announcement blog. It's still early in the "game".
  15. To find out your designation, reply with either 5- or 0- menu, i.e.: 5-5 is "What's your location" - it will show up in radiochat log. Most of the time - yes. Since you're probably talking about public servers... I'd ignore the squad leader till the time when an opportunity arises to regroup with him. :) No connection between spawn & TL locations, most of the games are Join-in-Progress, meaning: everyone will be "ahead" of you in the mission. That's mission-specific, look for recurring mission names & check them out. Some of the most popular ones aren't in A3A yet, and they would fit your description. Hexagons only mark members from YOUR entire squad AFAIK. Join servers with Regular difficulty, then you'll be able to have on-screen waypoints & squad location, as well as friendly & enemy units on the map. :) On public servers - of course, though you will have to find missions with reasonable restrictions for flying & gear, such as those based on your score. Evolution/Domination/Warfare CTI come to mind -- those aren't out yet for A3A. :) Headset is a plus in every scenario, since VON is available & working in-game. Teamspeak is used by more organised communities/squads. Enjoy

  20. We had ArmA II with all the awesome simulation components and systems... then PhysX got added - here's the result. All sims are CPU-dependent, ArmA II was horrible at launch with underutilisation issues. It'll get optimised eventually.

    I meant Warfare Benny Edition with 3 sides: OPFOR, BLUFOR, Resistance. CTI. ; ) Once that comes out, it's going to take its fair share of servers.

    "Adjust Up" & "Adjust Down"?

    Works "fine" for long range engagement, if you're stationary, but usability is well below average for urban CQB.
