With respect to the flashlight/lazor combination, might it be possible to simply do a combo attachment that includes both (and some fancy-ass scripting to allow you to switch between them)? Of course the placement of the objects might differ between gun types... Oh, and to me personally, arma is as much about weapons as farming is about shovels. I do see Mr. Hammers perspective tho - he has made guns his business in this great game of ours (and I am very much looking forward to some cool-as-beans RH stuff for the next game - the new system should allow for some truly amazing things!)

I'm gonna need a bigger monitor... But seriously, much as I adore Arma, I wouldn't blame BIS if they made DayZ the flagship franchise. I don't know diddly about the numbers involved, but it seems that the zombie franchise is selling like no-ones business over at steam. And as a business, BIS looks to me like it is big in it own neck of the woods, but if it wants to be big globally, the better bet might be to go with the franchise that everyone might want rather than the one a select (but smaller) group will most certainly want. If it happens I'll be sad (I might even cry a little) but I'll also understand (not that I think it'll happen, BIS have always been such nice and standup fellas towards us, the communitards). Now I feel like an ugly girl. Gonna go eat some ice cream.

Where does the editor save/export missions to?
hund replied to Sandy106's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
If you export, I belive the mission file ends up in your root game directory as a pbo, under missions and mpmissions, respectively. If you just save the mission, it goes into the documents folder. -
If you're having the same problem as me (also a proud owner of the much bedeviled GTX260), the black screen is your card taking a dump. However, you can actually get back into the game by geting to your desktop, pressing escape (which will bring up a menu ingame - you can see that this happens because the mouse cursor will change to the A2 variant). Now you hit ctrl+enter to switch to windowed mode and once again ctrl+enter to switch back into full mode and voila, you're back in the game. To sum up: 1. alt-tab out to the desktop 2. press escape - cursor should change 3. alt+enter twice 4. Tally ho! I've had these crashes intermittently since A2 was first released, sometimes more than others (depending on patches, largely). However with ACR it has taken a turn for the worse, and the crashes are almost constant now (with only a few minutes in between dumps) - thus rendering the above solution kind of pointless. Arma just seems to dislike our cards.

New stuff from old man bardosy! Guess I'll have to give this a try tonight.

Yes, it does seem that way from what Mr. Spanel wrote as well, which leaves hope for retexture artists such as this thread's original poster. As long as it does not leave the game from whence it originated, it is alright. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?105256-Why-Licenses-Do-Matter&p=1742424&viewfull=1#post1742424

Much obliged gents, I'll peruse through that immediately. Just out of curiosity, since hex editing is hench-forth an outlawed practice (pity, really, I was getting quite good at it), is there a legal way of retexturing BIS models that do not support hiddenSelections?
-
Oh bugger me, I didn't know that had become illegal. Many thanks for informing me. But if that is against the rules to hex edit now, wouldn't a large portion of the addons on armaholic technically be ... illegal?
-
Yup, either hiddenSelections like on the vehicles, or you will have to hex edit them with a text editor.

yoink! ;)

Now this is goddamn Marvelous. These dudes have character! EDIT: Needs more beanie - everything is better with beanies.

Good idea with a 7.62 project - there's something fascinating about mercs in the jungle. However, I was looking at your textures and I really think they would work better if you toned them down a shade or two. That tone of green is fairly strong and in the end would have the opposite effect of what camouflage is supposed to do. Maybe saturate it a little or go a bit darker. You could also mix it up a little with some other colours, to make the green less avocado-like. Best of luck with your project!

Good missions, Mr NkEnNy. I like.

I had that no shadows issue with a few older textures. I fixed it by converting them from TGA to PAA using texview. Dunno if thatll work for you tho.
-
run the game in windowed mode if you want to take a screenie with prntscrn.

Good things come to those who wait :D

Yeah im having a hard time finding any air strip as well, I think maybe the wrong pbo got packed up or something...

check out Xeno's mission "The Longest Day" for an example of how to place the LHD. But Jakerod is right, the sea bottom must be even and you can't be in infiniteland, if I remember correctly.

Cold War Rearmed² All-in-one-Demo + Patch²
hund replied to W0lle's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Well its deffo not the vegetation then, as its happened on both islands. I haven't talked to others who have used the new demo yet, so I might be the only one having this problem (in which case I'll have to figure it out on mah lonesome). Anyways the symptoms are (in order of appearance): 1. Sounds start to cut out (first game, then TS) 2. Game speed gradually slows down to a crawl 3. Connection to internet is cut 4. Desktop is affected, alt-tabbing and changing windows takes longer Normal arma RAM usage is around 40% RAM used, last i checked I was using 61% RAM in CWR2 - not sure if this is relevant or not -
Cold War Rearmed² All-in-one-Demo + Patch²
hund replied to W0lle's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I might be the only one, but it has been consistent so I thought I'd report it: When running CWR2 on either kolgujev or everon my performance gets gradually slower and I eventually lose internet connection. I am no expert but it does remind me of a memory leak. If I stand still it takes longer than if I move around the islands, so my personal theory is that the new vegetation might be at fault. Then again it might be my computer having a hissy fit, but if that is so it is doing it very selectively. ;D I tried running around on other islands (chernarus et al) and had no adverse effects. -
...And thank goodness for that, eh? :p

So no Future Soldier (with 4-player coop campaign) for PC, instead we get this free to play generic piece of crap? I am now upset.

Maybe a public forum isn't the place for a private conversation in the first place, get a room you two. :D Textures look spiffin' - Goes well with the OCP retex dudes.

I was completely in love with Avignon as well, and I am pretty sure I read somewhere that Avignon is actually situated in the Green Sea region! :D Anyways I tried out the island and I like it, solid framerate and good dispersion of stuff. One thing I particularly like is that you havent gone overboard with the points of interest; there has to be some real estate between the POIs or they lose their value somewhat.

I played the first one for a good long time with a group called Sturmgrenadier, good times were had - so I am hoping for greatness from the sequel. In NC we trust!
