    Favourite Infantry class

You are all wrong, the priest class is the best class by far - All piety and a guaranteed spot in heaven once the nuke script goes off. The functionary is also a great class to play, nothing beats desk jockeying.
  2. I like the setting chosen - It is a rather untouched part of the war in europe and also one that will offer lots of different perspectives, and perhaps moral choices. I also think WW II tank combat is perfect for ARMA 2 - I remember having alot of fun in the Liberation 1941-1945 tanks, and the missions released for that modification.

    ArmA Ghost Recon II

Looks great! I always liked the overall theme in the Ghost Recon games, a sense of an overarching story and a touch of high politics at times. Things like this, things that make you feel you are part of something bigger are sorely lacking in the original ARMA 2 campaign - Looking forward to seeing this mission, or series of missions released.
  4. You are quite free to state it - But no need to be petty about the matter, you have your opinion, everyone in this topic has. That doesn't need one needs to express it, it certainly does not entail that one has to act like a fanboy about it. "I hope they stay far away from ArmA", it sounds like you expect PR to steal your women and your cleaning jobs. I say it once again, the self proclaimed maturity of this community and some of it's long term members is evidently something that is liable to be thrown out of the window at the mere mention of a BF2 mod making it's way into ARMA 2. There is no need to "protect" this community from modmakers, of any kind. Quite the opposite, I have had alot of fun with modifications that are far removed from the touted and much acclaimed realism that prompted me to buy this game in the first place (for example LEGAwarz and so on) There is however reason to think about what one will accomplish by whinging at the potential forming of a modification that might, just might, improve the game in one aspect or another. Imagine if this would have been the attitude when ACE was announced, hard to imagine, but please, do try. Creativity, no matter to what ends it is employed will never harm this game, nor it's community. At the very worst, it will make no difference to the way it's played, at the very best, it will give us a new perspective upon playing it.
  5. I really like how the proclaimed maturity of this community is thrown out the window at the bare mention of a game viewed as less "realistic" and less "tactical" than OFP, ARMA, ARMA 2 or whatever else. If this is true that the PR team are working on a mod for ARMA 2 (a fact that seems highly dubious, and improbable) then why the hell object to it? You say "Stay away from ARMA 2 with your silly views on realism!". I say, "Please, come to ARMA 2, do whatever you will to the game within the confines of the EULA BI have provided." Because I am quite confident in the fact that someone elses' hard work upon something I might not like has no reflection upon the way I opt to enjoy my game. I have the freedom to not download a modification, I don't need to play it. And you all certainly have no need to fear any new clause in the EULA that forces you to download and play with an eventual PR release for ARMA 2. Seriously, grow up. The game is here for everyone to make modifications for, not to satisfy your petty little views on what realism entails, or what should or should not be in the ARMA 2 engine. All this said however, I find it improbable that PR will make the move to ARMA 2, but if they do, I welcome them... I welcome them to a community that I have been a part of since the demo for OFP was released, I welcome them to a community that I know and cherish, and I welcome them to add whatever they wish to the series of games that are the very reason for the existance of this comminity.

    RIP: Patrick Swayze

Brave man - I read the story linked in the original post... I envy his strength and his courage along with his determination. His pain must have been endless, yet he continued to fight his illness, I cannot say with certainty I would do the same. Rest in peace, Patrick Swayze.
  7. As far as I know SA80 is more of a "family name" - The L85(A2) rifles being a part of that family, the largest part at that. The carbine in the SA80 family is, as far as I recall the L22, the support weapon the L86(A2) LSW.
  8. My father (a telecommunications expert since 1969) has a few photo's of the first of the telephone transmission fax machines, I think it is an Exxon - His company was also in Finland to help develop the ARP "car radio phone" network where terminals were as large as the boot of a car. Some of his stories and pictures do indeed make it clear just how much technology has advanced, a pity it seems to be most advanced in areas that are more trivial than others.
  9. Yeah, figured as much. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation employs a similar principle, as does many other fine broadcasters and video sites. I hate this (somewhat newfangled) regional discrimination, I do suppose it makes sense in BBC's and ABC's case, saves bandwidth for the license payers.
  10. Damnable BBC, can't watch the videos from Sweden.
  11. I remember BAS had some degree of randomisation for the civilians that came together with the Tonal Redux - As I recall it it was T-shirt motifs and trouser colours that were randomised, taking that further for the insurgents in OA would be sweet, random colour kheffiyehs, chest rigs and so on and so forth.
  12. Those rifles look the dogs' danglies STALKER! Happy to hear about your collaboration with Project Reality, hope it has, and will make your own work more enjoyable now that you have folk to share the load with you to a greater extent.

    Lest we forget...

How did a thread about paying respects to the victims of a terrorist attack devolve into this psuedo political squabble? Say something pertinent to this particular topic. I know this is an internet forum and that I am no moderator - But by goodness, have some sense of tact and discuss the finer points of international terrorism and the "war" being waged upon it in the topic rather aptly titled; "War Against Terror". In any matter - It's hard to beleive it's been eight years, I still remember it like it was yesterday, and to some extent, it still feels surreal to watch the videos of the aircraft colliding with the twin towers... Having been to New York both pre- and post-attack is also something that to me, makes the event yet harder to fathom. Needless to say, my thoughts are with the folk who suffered through these attacks and it's aftermath.
  14. And the LAV-25 weighs about 10-12 tonnes?
  15. You sir are a prime example of an artisan - Simply amazing work and what attention to detail!
  16. The same way that the FN FNC is manufactured by Bofors as the AK5, doesn't change the fact that it's an FN FNC with modifications made to it. A heat shield does not a new weapon design make. Anyway, wrong topic for this discussion :)
  17. Uh, yes it is - It is called the KSP 90 in Sweden and the L110A1 in the UK. It's still the same gun, designed by FN Herstal as the MINIMI. Even if it's licensed to be manufactured in other countries.
  18. Seeing as the MINIMI (read: M249) is already in the game I doubt those who crave Australian units in the game would be satiated by another release ;) That said, I am quite sure there is a team hard at work on Australian units, rather positive acutally. Camels for ArmA 2

This would be so awesome in insurgent or guerilla textures, fitted out with some crazy gear like recoilless rifles and PK's on the wingtips
  20. I'd say it is very realistic - In Sweden for instance we have ranger units that specialize in securing military aifields, it goes without saying that snipers play an important role in doing just that. The sniper overlooking the airfield was actually a great touch, killed off my entire squad during one of my playthroughs. My issue with the airbase objective was the lack of response from the units inside of the base - The DShk equipped pickup for instance would have been nice to be faced with after the initial assault, but it just stood there waiting, quite similar to the rest of the units inside the airfield.
  21. Just had the time to play this through yesterday - Great job, I really like how the mission is large in scope but still manages to stay very much comprehensible and structured (as opposed to some more or less similar missions in the official campaign). There are also alot of choices to be made, some that have a large impact on the mission and some that don't really matter that much - The point is, there are choices to be made in this mission, and that's a good thing. The atmosphere is also great - The passing of time within the mission really helps immersion, would enjoy more "timers" though, perhaps secondary objectives that will fail unless they are acheived before a certain time. Perhaps this can be incorporated in the third installement of this series? I have one point of critique however, and that is in agreement (to some extent) with Njayjay's. The airfield objective was rather underwhelming, I had expected a hard fight, but it turned out the hard part was finding every individual soldier hiding out within the complex. Anyway, great job! Looking forward to mission number three, and whatever concept you begin work on after that.
  22. Thanks to UKF for being proper sports and allowing the port over to ARMA II - And thanks to you for aquiring that permission and doing the work of converting.

    Changing environment due to pollution

That is what I am saying - For him, or anyone who lives in Sweden (even remotley similar locales) solar power isn't a viable option. I beleive I wrote twice that solar power isn't a money saver. I never stated that it was cost effective, as that was the point I was arguing against; I also stated that to save money on your heating bill, proper modern insulation and foundation drainage is a better alternative. I also never stated that my father expected his money back fast, it is a way to keep electricity bills in check - Not a very good one, but in '94 options were more limited than today, today there's a viable network of geothermal heating and also long distance heating in the vicinity.
  24. I am sure you know this already - But you can force AI units to always remain standing; unitname setunitpos "up" As said in past, looking forward to new missions and any improvements you might decide to make for current ones - Oh, and I do hope there'll be a sequel for Sweep&Strike aswell.
  25. Looks great Sakura_Chan - Is there any chance of this working on vehicles?
