Cool vid. Yeah, I remember playing the original and being amazed by the 3d gameplay :P Its amazing how far Electronic General Computation Machines have come. Hard to imagine but at the time it looked as good as the new one does now. Its all relative to what's around at the time. In 10 years we'll look back and laugh at the graphics of today ;) -
Good find. Strange that RMB and v don't work tho. Have you tried using the optics mode in a helicopter? See if that uses the same key.

To turn a plane, bank to about 80 degrees and then pull back (nose up). This will make you turn as fast as possible but note that it slows you down so don't let speed get too low or you stall (lose lift). Banking to much will make you lose lift and extreme bank will make you turn into the ground. (Just experiment) Same can be done in a helicopter but again, watch your speed. Turning like this is the best way to stop a helicopter as pulling up in level flight will make you gain altitude even if you drop the collective (throttle) Doing straffing runs is really a case of practice, practice, practice. You have to get used to predicting where bullets and rockets will hit and turn the aircraft a bit earlier. Do not get target fixation. Its better to over-fly and try again than end up in the ground (which does happen in real life too) Remember that throttle setting is important as that affects the height of the impacts, ESPECIALLY in a helicopter. -

You probably need a sticky with the title, "RUN STEAM AS ADMIN" -
I think 'v' and RMB click are the default for optics. There is also an optics mode which allows you to change from scope to open sights if available. You'll have to check the key bindings as I've changed mine and can't remember the default. Perhaps post a screen shot to show the problem?

Want to buy Arma but in wheelchair and not sure if can play with controller

A controller can be used for moving vehicles, aircraft and infantry but there are many other commands so I don't it can controller can do them all. -
Perhaps a compromise (for now) where objects can be viewed in 3d just for placement and then go back to 2d editor. Side notes from watching presentations: (I understand its still work in progress) -1st person muzle flashes at night don't look so good with those 'spikes'. In 3rd person they are much rounder and look better. -Pitty about light shadowing restriction at night to just the moon. For gameplay and visual aesthetics its much more important to have shadows from vehicles or weapon flashlight. (Its very annoying to see vehicle headlights going through walls and into buildings) -Underwater SDV needs more inertia. It should take longer to get up to speed and need reverse thrust to slow down. If you jump out while its still moving forward it would keep going for about 10-20m and slow down gradually.

If it says that the video card doesn't match min required its a pretty good indication of the problem. Have you updated ATI drivers to latest? Try different settings in ATI control panel too.

Adding Betas for new players is a very bad idea. Things do get broken in betas and they would have no idea if a problem is related to the beta or ARMA itself. They already have a huge learning curve to deal with. Personally I'm not using the Betas as I don't have time to help with bug reports and I want to wait for the awesome update all in one go ;)

Check if there is a patch for the demo. This was a problem with some graphics cards that has been fixed with patches. Duno about the demo though. It would be helpful to know your system details.

I hope you haven't put all the ingame settings to 'VERY HIGH' Set them to the minimum you can accept. If you don't notice much difference then go lower. -

I'm usually on in the evenings at "1Para Public Server" [uK] Its normally running 'Domination' but can be changed if enough people vote for another mission. I will help anyone who wants to learn. A mic is necessary but TeamSpeak is not required for this server. (NOTE: Do not join with ACE addon) -

Never heard of that before. EDIT: Looked it up and its overheat protection for the GPU so check your temps while playing... Supersparkvark: Check and clean the vents. Its dangerous to run ARMA on a laptop as it pushes the CPU & GPU harder than most games. -

Glad you got it sorted and its good to have that info but you can't complain about no one helping you if that problem has not been seen before and it was a problem with your system NOT the game. -
I'm one of the few who like the command line :P I just have different ARMA icons with various setups: One for ARMA with fave mods, One for I44 and one for DayZ ;) That way I don't have to activate/deactivate mods and restart... Sickboy: Your SixUpdater is very good too.

I'd like to see canon recoil effect tanks. I seem to remember in OFP or ARMA1, tanks would rock a bit when main gun was fired. This should also happen with smaller vehicles which have softer suspension. Things equivalent to the 'ZU-23' truck and 'SPG-9' offroad. (I know they won't be in ARMA3. I'm just giving examples)

I'm another TrackIR-5 user and I find it just as useful with infantry as in a cockpit. The ability to freelook any time even with sights up, easily lean around corners really helps awareness and immersion so much. The different head heights in ARMA3 might be a bit difficult to use with TrackIR as its hard to move your head up and down while seated (especially without affecting the other axes)
