A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment Public Release!
ArmaVidz replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I have to disagree. Core2Quad's and especially 9600GT's are about as minimal/low-end as any gamer should want to go. The price point on Q6600 Core2Quad's is silly -in ratio to performance. To understand where your video card ranks in the grand scheme of things Toms Hardware GPU Charts. At $133.00 CDN, a 9600GT is considered by "gamers" ultra-low-end. Typically, the average gamer makes purchases of GPU's at anywhere from $200.00 CDN to $350.00 CDN - with the higher than $350.00 range reserved for enthusiasts and extreme gamers. However in my experience, with Armed Assault and my rig, is that running a Quad and also important: a motherboard with a great chipset is going to pay off the most. Couple these things with an extremely fast hard drive and you will notice the difference. My rig is two years old, and the tech in it, is at least one year before I bought it. So it's basically three or four year old technology - hardley "gamers elite" yet I get very little slowdown, as you can see. Running ACE, Armed Assault actually feels smoother in FPS. The only exception is Schmalfelden, I can't get that map to run worth beans; to which I still have to look into. One thing is for sure, I appreciate the efforts to optimize the modification to run on lower-end PC's but surely, there is a point to where the optimization turns to minimalization which effects visuals. -
Nice Halftrack!

Cool, I'll have to try the kit out. -
wld427 you are doing a great job with the RACS. They are well represented and in my mind, instead of being a sort of side-note of force strength, their more like a consideration. Definitely "three" sides of military in the game now. Looking forward to the XEH compatibility and future releases. Cheers Vidz

Fantastic job, SMERSH.

31st NORMANDY MOD - WW2 Â -BETA RELEASE
ArmaVidz replied to rip31st's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Myself, included. Now that, is funny haha The thread I was referring to, although I do admit I made assumptions about the content and context (as the thread was in the ARMA A&M: Discussion Forum) and there were screenshots of WWII units in Armed Assault, was here: Invasion '44 Now Closed Thread Yeah, it was oddly humerous how the site began experiencing issues immediately after I signed up and put my post here. That's great, that's all anyone could hope for. To at least see some dialogue created considering. Congrats, good to hear work still continues - officially. Â -
31st NORMANDY MOD - WW2 Â -BETA RELEASE
ArmaVidz replied to rip31st's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hey Rip31st, some great work you're doing here. I am rather intrigued by WWII as my father was in the Royal Canadian Artillery, landing in Normandy. I have to ask, have you tried to contact the fellas from the Invasion '44 modification (now closed)? The main reason I ask is their WWII 2nd Rangers units, and probably other units or vehicles, are absolutely stunning. Their official statement in the Invasion '44 thread is "Now Closed," - so perhaps they would be interested in helping out another mod which has already proven it has the gusto to get a release out the door - and then work on polishing and expanding that release. Link to their website: Invasion '44 Website Just a thought... Â Cheers Vidz -

I can't recall a Police Cruiser being released, does this kit include the cruiser as well? -
A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment Public Release!

I also don't like it. I don't like it either. Â I think it could probably be made it better by applying a bevel effect to the text/logo layer and eliminating the rendered lighting / gradient thing. Â You could also probably play layer masks and quite easily make it look like 3d thread with the bevel effect. And the other screens look much better than they did in the betas but I think you could probably achieve a more coherent effect without the same lighting / gradient applied to it. Â I subtle colour layer might work better, as you aren't adding any suspiciously flat lighting to the photo. I like the effect on the loading screen, but not the loading graphic itself. I liked the note paper and collage type background behind the menu. It would cool to see a background change, with screenshots ingame or seomthing like it, with the same effect applied. -

For the record, I actually like that sound. It drops bottom on my subwoofer, sounds like wind, with a faint tinge of "heartbeat." -

I believe 2GB's is hardly a price to pay for a unification package. Ontop of all the wicked things in ACE, I believe it serves as a platform to unite players and their equipment. It's done a good job thus far. Armed Assault needs one package (built around the ACE Core) that a player can load up with and start shooting without having to coordinate with everyone which mods are going to be used.. -
Opteryx this new Village is just jaw dropping. I couldn't help but notice how ultrarealistic the grass is. Together with the layout, custom objects and varying level terrain elevations this map is a standing monument of how terrain should be built. Great stuff.

Craig Armstrong - Escape All my videos are shot exclusively in MP now. From 2:15 on, much of the footage is ShackTac. I can't really give you a percentage because there are shots spliced in from differing battles, using the same scenario, on that same map. The cool stuff is all ShackTac. And, Ai serve their purposes. There isn't much Ai in the vid, except for a couple in the periphery of the footage and a couple dead/dying. The convoy soldiers crouching were 14 Ai hunkered down and myself and a friend working around them in MP.

For the record, I was having the issue tonight, only Patch 1.15 was reporting: "ver 1.09" instead of a more recent patch rev. Renaming the beta directory (I like renaming rather than deleting for failsafes) worked to install Patch 1.15. Thanks Vidz

A.C.E Island Pack - v1.00 Release
ArmaVidz replied to the-f's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Congrats on the island release. These islands are very ambient, with alot of really great terrain to wage war. A truly great addition to any hard drive. Vidz -
Bravo 6, in the middle picture on the left, I see what appears to be elevated roads. Do you think they'll stay? The reason I ask is because 29 Palms has elevated roads in areas (alpha version) and they are totally awesome to run convoys on, hide behind or wage war from.

Thanks, RKSL for the ARMA goodies

I didn't play OFP very much, due to not having decent hardware at the time, but from what I recall, when you opened fire on the Ai, they hunted you forever. There was a spec ops mission where you assault a town and when you opened fire, there was armor that would patrol and check every nook and cranny of that town (interior excluded). I never saw that armor bumping into houses repeatedly or turning back and forth wildly with the hull and seperately freaking out with its turret. The only thing I don't like about ARMA I Ai is that after a very short period of time, Ai forget they were fired at - or it "seems" that way.

You should state which country the ACE server is located in.
-
Sheesh Opteryx, thanks. Â Â I recently did some shooting(no pun intended) on Avgani for the Advanced Combat Environment Trailer. You did a really great job with the revisions. Great stuff. Looking forward to some new play around the new Village, it looks even more realistic.
-
The features weren't actually meant to be shown explicitly, they were listed at the end of the trailer to give the public an idea of what is in the mod -on the whole. There are still many advanced gameplay features for everyone to explore and experience.

Oh boy. Something from RKSL on Christmas. That's fantastic news.
