oktNoBlur - Signed Blur Remover Addon
xxbbcc replied to oktane's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Oktane, thanks for your reply - I do have your addon running fine. I thought it also disables the running blur effect, that's what made me ask. -
oktNoBlur - Signed Blur Remover Addon
xxbbcc replied to oktane's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Oktane, is this supposed to completely turn off the blurring effect around the edge of the screen when walking/running? I'm using the version for OA 1.56 and I still have the blurring effect. Would I get startup errors if I were using the wrong version? (I have CO, BAF and PMC, if any of that makes a difference.) -
I don't want this game to have "a counter strike feel to it."

VILAS addons release thread
xxbbcc replied to vilas's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Thank you Vilas for the updates, they look great. Can hardly wait for the new vehicles. -
Based on 2 DLCs, of which the PMC actually has missions that look like they were ripped straight out of CoD. And as others have already said, substantial terrain and new engine features are major additions that the community cannot do, so I'd want BIS to concentrate on those. I'd welcome new troops, vehicles, etc. but only as a major version release (which is still fully compatible with A2:OA - I'm really done with having to discard all previous content because of a "new" game), content merged forward from earlier games or as freebies. I'm not inclined to buy any more troops, etc.
-
I agree with you - in fact I many times said in the past that I'd be willing to pay for what I call unified content: all islands, units, etc. ported from earlier games into A2:OA, giving them all the latest features. There are a few units that I'd be interested in (variious civilians mostly), but in general I don't want any more troops for a while; the ones we have are very good and as you said it, it has relatively little effect on the experience.

The wasteland could've been a great place - the crater is fantastic - but it's nearly unusably small. It's a shame, really. If this map was let's say 5x5 (or even 4x4 as you wrote it), it could've been so much better. Looks like BIS is trying to move towards CoD-type "levels" from the island concept which I will NOT support.

Then buy the boxed version? Or get it from Sprocket.

XM-8 skin quality for Combined Ops users
xxbbcc replied to -=Grunt=-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
They could've made that decision in the installer - if the user has A2, install that custom config, otherwise install the new config. Hell, no! (This is just to reiterate my disagreement stated earlier - I'm not trying to bash your opinion.) I'm not saying I wouldn't have paid for it the price I did - it is a lot of content after all, it must've taken quite an effort (good, too), but OA is by no definition of the phrase a "new game". It's nothing but an expansion with a serial number. I haven't even started A2 since I got A2:OA - there's absolutely no reason to do so. After PMC, I also won't buy any more DLCs until content from A2 and A2:OA are merged towards common OA features (e.g. all units can carry backpacks, all units (troops + civilians) have the same set of animations, etc.) I'm willing to pay for this but this is pretty much the only thing I'm willing to pay for at this time. Until this is done, I won't buy more DLC content - I want unified content. -
trying to burn DLC content on DVD!!

What for? My A2 folder is 40 GB in size. :D -
Hey everyone, I eventually plan on getting PMC but from what I gathered about the latest patches and PMC itself, it seems to me that the game at the moment is pretty badly broken, waiting for at least one major patch to correct issues. (I'm using beta 73968, since this seemed to be the last stable patch.) From what I read in the forums, the game is widely considered highly unstable, LOD issues are all over the place and the AI is broken. Since my perception may be incorrect, can you guys give me a clear, no-shit assessment about the 1.56 patch for OA, the 1.01 patch for BAF and the state of PMC? Is it worth getting these updates right now or would you recommend waiting for another patch before I update things. (I have A2:CO and BAF and I'd rather avoid reinstalling the game if I didn't like the patches.)
-
Absolutely NOT. After PMC, I completely agree.

PMC04: Transportation... BI, WTF were you thinking?
xxbbcc replied to OOPz's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
As far as SP content goes, I'd say PMC and especially this mission is a new low for BIS. -
Thank you, I missed than entry.

PMC04: Transportation... BI, WTF were you thinking?
xxbbcc replied to OOPz's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
I'd prefer them to die and not come back in later missions. Or, alternatively, if a character is really important, then pretend he didn't die but was only unconscious and recovered. There should be only a handful (2-3 at most, really) like these anyway. If the number of AI teammates is important for the mission, new characters should be introduced. -
Can someone please get the latest from the TS3 server and put it on a download service?

Change CD key without re-installing?

Get in touch with Wolle or Dwarden and ask them in a PM - they're very helpful and they may be able to help you with this. -
How can i enter into an IA team (how can i ask to the squad leader)?
xxbbcc replied to Viloresi's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
You cannot join into a different AI team from your current team - if you're not part of a team, you cannot join one. Joining AI teams is possible only in missions that specifically implemented that as a feature but so far I only know of 1 or 2 such missions. -
Thanks for all the views - I had 1.54 before and read pretty bad things about 1.55. After this thread I installed 1.56 and the game seems to be much better than 1.54.73968b was. Good job on BIS' part.

PMC Campaign first mission (contains possible spoilers)
xxbbcc replied to Alwarren's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
In mission 1, how long am I supposed to wait for the other guy to regroup? I ran through it several times (running through credits and all) but every time I get to the regroup point, nothing happens - only the mortars keep falling. The whole place is empty, I ran around multiple times. -
oktNoBlur - Signed Blur Remover Addon
xxbbcc replied to oktane's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Thank you oktane, this is an excellent addon! -
Thanks everyone - I'll probably get the patches then. Simply from what I've seen since the beta I'm using - it seemed that lots of unhandled issues have been introduced after that and I decided to wait until I get the general impression that things are working normally.

[Edit: only do this if someone else asks for it - I just got PMC.] Defunkt, would you please split out the PMC-related changes into a separate .pbo? I don't have PMC yet but until I get it, I'd like to be able to use the latest version of your addon. A separate PMC .pbo would make this possible, since I could just leave out that one .pbo. Thanks a lot. This is an awesome addon.

XM-8 skin quality for Combined Ops users
xxbbcc replied to -=Grunt=-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
In my opinion that's a very dangerous position - as I see it, the only reason OA was released as a new game was to provide the ability to have its own serial without BIS having to revamp a bunch of things. I can live with that. With that said, however, I do not and will not treat A2 and A2:OA as separate games and I will forcefully push back on BIS trying to position them as such. As far as I'm concerned, there's only one A2 game, all other things are simply added content to it. When BIS announced that A2 content will not receive the feature updates of A2:OA, I thought of that as very unwelcome act on their part. They clearly treat Arma as a developer tool (much like Visual Studio from Microsoft), yet there's no unified content across the various games. I could accept this between A1 and A2, since there were major changes. It is, however, utterly unacceptable between A2 and A2:OA, since there's hardly any difference between the two. Plus, I already stated numerous times that I'd be willing to pay to have that unified content from OFP, A1, A2, A2:OA-BAF and A2:OA-PMC in A2:OA. I really don't want to have 6-7 "different" games when it's really the same and all features should be available on all objects regardless when that object was released. (For example, backpacks for units, etc.) I have no problem with BIS releasing paid DLCs but if it means ever more content that's more and more incompatible with the rest of the game, it will not do. I simply want to be able to use all units and objects on all islands exactly the same way. All units (US, UK, Russian, civilan, etc. should be able to fight, carry a backpack, etc. Same for weapon behavior, etc.) -
It's definitely not 2 minutes. I wouldn't mind helping with testing, since my version of Zeus seems to be buggy as hell, however, I don't even know what version I have. I got it from some place that had a newer date than the "official" 1.4. I appreciate Protegimus' work a lot - this AI addon is great and badly needed but I do agree that version tracking is terribly bad. I don't know when problems will be fixed (or if they're already fixed in some unreachable version) and no one has any idea where to get updates or even if updates have been released or not. I agree that the first page of this thread should be updated with release updates - this is pretty much community standard plus user-friendly. I wouldn't mind posting bug info and help Protegimus track them down as he has time if I knew about the updates.
