Voice actors forum group - find actors or become one!
sle replied to celery's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I'm English, can do good accents in various voices. This talent's never done me that much good so far, apart from entertaining mates, so if I can be of use, just PM me. ACCENTS: African, all UK/Ireland, German, French, American, Australian. Others can be attempted, but won't be perfect. -
Bardosy, I just wanted to thank you for this campaign. I've played the whole thing and thoroughly enjoyed it, it's pure class. The lack of voiceovers didn't matter to me, as they're usually pretty rubbish when people try and put them on, so the atmosphere was quite good as a result. Thanks again!

Thanks, I'll investigate.

I've been playing since the day the OFP demo was released. I've never got into multiplayer.. Looking at this thread, and ones like it, it seems I should give it another go - maybe join a group or something? Not just for my sorry ass, but for every new player reading this thread, could someone suggest a good way in for absolute beginners who'd like to experience the full potential of this game?

Ban me. I dont care. this is BIS (oops i mean BS)
sle replied to Eppidemic's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Don't worry mate, rash decisions are easy to make on the internet when we're frustrated. You could have done a lot worse than buy this game, believe me. There's a lot of shit out there that doesn't come close to A2 even though this game still needs work. What I usually do, and it happened with a bug on Manhattan, is to give up for a bit and play something else. Come back to it in a week or more and try again, with new patches and after the benefit of a break. This game is great, but can take a lot of work! -
At last, a poll on the internet with euro-centric results. :) EDIT: Oops, Peckham - London here.

Let's get this thread back on track. It's INPUT lag, the directional keys will lag for a fraction of a second as well as the mouse. For some bizarre reason, the betas and -mousesmoothing help matters slightly for some. More importantly though: Intel Core 2 Duo + Nvidia Graphics Card 41% of the people experiencing this problem have this configuration. This is what needs to be looked at!
-
Bloody hell, I think the opposite. If my troops are in danger, I EXPECT them to fire back, and fuck it. The only time I use "hold fire" is sneaking up. If we get discovered and the element of surprise is lost, I'll be glad when they fight back.
-
It'd be pretty much ok if vehicles weren't slowed down so much by hills.
-
That mousesmoothing line sorts it right out for me too. Don't know how or why, but it reduces all input lag.
-
Overclock it if your motherboard allows. It's hard to get started in clocking, but once you know how it works, and what to adjust, you'll never look back. You should be able to push that one to 2.8 or so Ghz.

Yeah, that review could be summed up thus: OMG, what's this, how do I... Oh this is rubbish "Fry It".
-
Can't thank you enough for your missions so far, much appreciated Ubiquitous.

ARMA II Beta Builds Released: Latest version/build: 1.04.6xxxx
sle replied to mattxr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Can I make a suggestion? It appears that the site the betas are on is incompatible with Google Chrome. I thought it was down until I chanced upon a post by a user in another thread, so it might be an idea to edit the OP with this information. -
ARMA II Beta Builds Released: Latest version/build: 1.04.6xxxx

What a shame - the beta site seems to be down at my GMT post time. -
I have the "classic" mouse lag, as seen in the videos above. e6600 @3ghz, 9600GT and Razer Diamondback, XP. ARMA doesn't have lag like this. Also, I'm finding some of the posts here hilarious - people claiming the problem doesn't exist, or it's due to crap computers, or other bizarre notions. I had this exact same problem with Morrowind once, and it was because I had the music OFF. The fix was to turn the music down to its lowest setting without being completely inaudible; so I think the possibility of this being some wierd bug is very much there.

Mouse Lag 2 - Return of the Mouse Lag
sle replied to datter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
My mouse lags for about a quarter of a second before responding to movement. Just like the plethora of youtube videos like this one: And this one: My framerate is fine, it just lags the mouse. -
Cold War Rearmed - Public Beta Release

@domokun - Don't for one minute assume I was talking about you, I wasn't. :) As I said, I've read through this entire thread, and there has been some bitching, that's all I was saying.- 607 replies

Cold War Rearmed - Public Beta Release
sle replied to W0lle's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I think the answer is to give it a go. However, if it doesn't work, rather than come here listing your problems like a lot of people have, just try again with a fresh install. I've read this entire thread, and while bug reporting is indispensable for the authors of this project, I have noticed a little bit of bitching. To my mind, this is inexcusable considering what the devs have put in front of us to enjoy, and all free of charge.- 607 replies

Thankyou x1000 CWR team, you've taken me back to the past and I'm having a fantastic time. Install went perfectly, game runs great. My jaw is on the floor at the effort that's gone in to this, and I think this community is privileged to be allowed to have this much fun for free.- 607 replies

upgraded from E6600 to Q9550. Massive improvement
sle replied to Tankbuster's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Anyone thinking of upgrading from an E6600 would do well to note that they can easily go past 3Ghz on the stock cooler. Mine's been at 3Ghz for a year now, and it's got to be cheaper than buying a quad for a marginal performance increase. -
Sorry about the thread necrophillia, but I'm having a ball with Dynamic War, and just wanted to thank MrN and recommend this addon - it breathes real life into Arma.
-
Here is the news: The guy bought this game to have fun. He is not having fun (yet). I was in the same boat, and I bought OFP on release day and had a ball with it. Arma was reluctantly shelved for a while, until I went into the .ini file and dramatically lowered the enemy accuracy - THEN, it became fun. My suggestion to the OP is to do the same. There's a lot of bravado around here about how easily people can play this game at it's highest difficulty level, but the truth is, nobody cares. If lowering the accuracy to what I would call realistic levels (Humans are NOT robots) makes the game playable for some, shouldn't we be encouraging this? I mean OFP was hard enough, but was much more popular, and I think the insane difficulty of ARMA has only hindered this amazing game in the popularity stakes. All lowering the enemy accuracy does, is give you a couple of seconds to react to that hidden soldier on the roof, instead of banging the reload key hundreds of times until you get him. Which is more fun/realistic? I think we all know.

How utterly, utterly bizarre.

I'm going to bump this because I'm really enjoying this campaign - it's the perfect way to breathe new life into your single-player Arma. Recommended.
