ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead discussion thread
sparks50 replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
BC 2 "reporting" has only "tank spotted" etc and then a tank icon pops on the map. The Arma 2 radio on the other hand has to say where the tank is from hes point of view, how far away the tank is, and how many tanks he can see, and all of this with many different voices because it would be weird if they all sounded the same. Battle yelling can be interesting, but it is vital that these come at the right time. Ive tried several mods with random yelling and it ends up just being annoying because of the poor timing of the shouting. -

You have to give them a little break here, BC2 only has a few simple commands to deal with. Arma 2 bots have a much bigger variety of things to report about. -
Is this the award whining thread? Very well :D I think we all love Armaholic, ACE mod, and Sickboy, and the repeated awards are probably well deserved. I would however suggest to to disqualify winners from taking part in later awards, so that new positive changes in the community can be highlighted, like for example the Devheaven site. Otherwise, its hard to imagine Armaholic (well deserved because it is the best and biggest community site for the Arma games) not taking the 2010 and 2011 awards too. But with that said, congrats to all the winners!

Of course the big question is what exactly will be changed in the sound department. The radio system could really need a change, being mentioned as a minus in most reviews and often the first complaint to be heard on first impressions. http://pro.bistudio.com/index.php/services/audio-recording-studio/gallery.html http://antygry.blox.pl/2009/12/Gry-Do-Sluchania-odc-8-8211-Wywiad-z-Ondejem.html These images seems to have popped out recently(late 2009), but its hard to say how old they are. Maybe some kind of hint that they are taking weapon sound recording more serious now? Or is it just old photos from the Arma 2 development? -
I slaughtered the entire custom range in a brief moment of boredom last week, game still working like a charm. Anyway, I cant seem to select the highest resolution because anything over about 1280:1024 makes the screen go outside the "borders" of my monitor.

Doesn't matter the language, a tank and a IFV has different roles, also in the Czech army. http://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bojov%C3%A9_vozidlo_p%C4%9Bchoty The map looks very nice, at least in the green bit I could see plenty of details. -
Polands law allows life imprisonment AFAIK. The sentences you mention are not life imprisonment. You cant jump directly from 12 years, to capital punishment. We are only human, we are not made to be never failing. Many cases where people have been wrongfully convicted seemed obvious as day at the time, and only after a long time it is revealed to be false. And modern technology like DNA is only helping if there is good evidence on the table. Has the VHS shop on the corner started taking in Scarface? I'm glad your doing your research. The law is made not only to protect people from violence, but to protect people from the inherent faults of the law itself. Call it a fail-safety if you will. In the same way we have a constitution written to protect us against the ruling government, the law must operate with strict rules. If we went back to the 1700s "hang whoever the rumors say did it", that would be a much worse thing.

link? BTW a Bradley isn't a tank :p Sounds amazing. Cant wait to see how the new radar is. -
Ive heard capital punishment is actually more expensive that imprisoning someone for life. The reason for this is all the court meetings that are needed to get someone executed, and the salaries to those in the court amounts to a very high number in the end. And what about all those being wrongfully charged with crimes they didn't commit? The history is (sadly) full of these tragic cases, and the real number is probably much higher than we know. Once a man is murdered for a crime he didn't commit, there will be no way back.

Wasn't this supposed to be Microsofts showcase for DX 10 to prove that the PC was not dead? Guess I'm gonna have to get a 360 one day..

I'm pretty skeptical using real life as a playing field for airsoft. And how about eye protection? With that said, interesting concept, to say it the least.

Yes, I sort of liked the old system better, but no biggie though, great mod. -
Spooky: It doesn't mean that Arma 2 demands exactly the same as JCOVE, it means that it is a factor in the performance.
-
Not to mention that maps have a lot less objects per km2 than Chernarus has. Run maps with similar detail in Arma 2, and your FPS would mirror this.

You are just having a laugh aren't you?

Vilas, make it a goal to travel the US one month, from the east to the west coast, I think you'll be surprised by the "cold and evil" people you meet :) Anyway, I see your Michael Moore and raise with "avatar", further serious proof that US is evil. b6J86uY7rz8 Oh the poor aliens, all they wanted was a bit of Smurf song :( Incidentally, the movie 2012 just made me realize we are all screwed. Dang.

I think we all would like to see a tighter cooperation between BI and BIA. Perhaps in the fourth generation of Real Virtuality? If there will be a fourth generation? :) Anyway, its great to see BI allowing the JCOVE DVDs to copied and shared. Its a nice little peek into VBS.

Welcome to my future police state:rolleyes: (Trippel post to avoid image limit)

Breaking every traffic law there is:p So I lit em up with the 30 mm:681:

Posting some pics from Samawah while messing about in JCOVE editor. I crowded a street, and placed some terrorists and a pickup truck in the middle of it. The AI surprised me by immediately making them jump into the truck and drive away(perhaps not so strange, with me being in a Apache helicopter over them)

Its there. (at least in the version I downloaded). Anyway, I think this should be in offtopic.

Is it just me, or does tripplehead+trackIR sound like a massive overkill? :D I wouldn't think moving your head would be so necessary with such a huge FOV. Maybe thales100 can enlighten me on the usages of it? Nice shots though, I bet it looks nice on three monitors.
