Mission download breaks, but mission still launch

I can confirm this, we have had the same problems on our server recently. The first mission I can remember of this happened to us was WACO (Warfare COOP), after that some other missions went Foxtrot Uniform aswell, but mainly on [ACE] USMC - Template Afghan. But this happens not only JIP, but also it may happen on first start of mission after server restart with all players already connected to the server and so on.. It seems that this goes quite randomly. I am tending to think that it is somehow server related and it could have something to do with BattlEye in combination with <s>1.15b</s> (edit: we had this also when server was running on 1.14) and ACE because since we disabled BattleEye on our server, I have no reports of this happened again. But then again, I have also done some changes in bandwith settings on our server, too, so i cannot be sure whether it is BE related or Bandwith or both..

    SPON Map

Hi again, we have used the new Version of Spon Map (v0.6.0 ) now for quite a while and I have to say it works very well, so we are going to make this addon mandatory for all members of the COOP - Section of our clan. What we are using Spon Map for: - All kinds of route planning (Flight Paths, driving routes, etc.) - Distance measurement for sniping and unguided AT, also for determination if enemy is in firing range of current weapon system - Marking areas where enemy fire is coming from - Drawing threat circles around possible / suspected enemy AA positions - Marking fire directions - Marking deploy zones for support and equipment - Writing text on the map - etc. Currently we are using it in conjunction with ACE - Mod and it works fine exept a few ACE-gameplay related things: - You are still able to access and use the Spon Map while you are unconscious. - You are still able to access and use the Spon Map although the Mission requires you to take an ACE-Map in your inventory with you in order to be able to see a Map at all. One thing that is suboptimal for our use is the new way how the thickness of lines is beeing chosen. Now we have to zoom out of the map to be able to draw thick lines, that is not so good, because when we try to highlight roads with lines that you can fairly see on the GPS, we need to zoom out so far, that the map reduces its detail level so that we often cannot see the objects we need to see for planning the route. The Same applies for circles and rectangles. If we want to mark areas quite precise, we have to zoom in while drawing. This way it is not possible to draw this with lines with a thickness so that you still can see the lines while zoomed out again. So for changing the thickness of lines I would recommend a slider in the GUI rather than a dynamic thickness - setting. One more suggestion I would like to make is: This is from your readme, section Plans: Short: Please give this a higher priority Because our server is running persistent and we mostly do our Missions over a larger period of time, this feature would be VERY useful for all kinds of pre - planning operations during the missions. Thanks for your attention, r:g

    SPON Map

Hi Spooner, thanks a lot for your hard work on this, very much appreciated. We used to use the Spon Map (addon version) in our clan since you released v0.5.1 and loved it. Now we switched to the more actual version v0.6.0 of Spon Map and v0.5.3 of Spon Core and unfortunately I have to tell that the AddOn - Version of Spon Map did not work until we switched the game - language from German back to English, so it looks like it does not work with other languages than English. Maybe the reason for this can be found in your InitMap.sqf, where I found the following: I guess that the highlighted KeyNames above are the reason for the addon not working in other languages than English (at least not in German language), because the Keys are named differently in other languages in the Options Menu. And also after switching to English, it does only work with the Keybinds, no ActionMenu - Entry is shown, but maybe that is intended. EDIT: After some more testing with this it seems to work after all with ArmA set to German language, but I swear it did not before.. Also some clanmembers confirmed this working with German language again. One Clanmember said it was working with German language right after installation and without the need to switch to English. One suggestion I would like to make is: - Make the Spon Map replace the BIS - Map entirely by the addon version because when you use the addon version of Spon Map, you do not need the default BIS - Map anymore Thanks for your attention, r:g

    Instant viewdistance

Hi 1212PDMCDMPPM, glad you like IVD. In IVD v2.0 it is not possible to set a ViewDistance value greater than 10000m. Also I believe putting the VD value above 10000m did/does not have any further effect on your ViewDistance in Game. If you want to do some experiments with higher VD values than 10000 you have to use IVD in a version prior to IVD v2.0. regards, r:g
  6. Hi there, first I would like to say that to me ACE is the best MOD for ArmA so far and it was worth waiting for it to come out. Great job. Unfortunately I have to report a quite annoying 'bug': Since I did not find anything regarding the following problem in this thread, I would like to report a problem with the 'Realistic Javelin - Mod' you put into ACE. Sorry if this has been mentioned before. This Mod causes a lot of players (we got several confirmations from public players on this) on our Server seeing the Javelin Launcher as 'Bunch of Artifacts' only. This does not happen at once but after some time of playing. I know that this has to be the culprit, because a while ago I tried this Mod: Realistic Javelin Mod as standalone and found that this did exactly the same (functionality and also problems) as now the Javelin in ACE does. Currently our Server is running with: - v1.15b - BattleEye enabled - ACE - Durg's Vegetation Fix - DOOACS - Avgani Iraq (currently obsolete version) - Sakakah 1.0 Thanks for your attention, r:g

    applying 115b to server fails.

Hi, to me this sounds like you forgot to delete a beta folder from the ArmA installation directory before you started the 1.15b installer. Just delete any folder called 'beta' in your ArmA installation directory before starting the installer. Maybe you'll find a 'launch arma beta patch' - shortcut / link in the installation - folder, too. If so, delete this one also. Since this is the only clue I have on this one, I hope that hint will help. cya and merry christmas, r:g

Hi again, thanks to i0n0s who made a complete overhauled version of InstantViewdistance, <span style='color:red'><span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>InstantViewDistance v2.0</span></span> is out now, please check first post for the update. thanks again, i0n0s, well done on this one. Â

    Avgani Iraq 1.2

Maybe it is just because the Mission you are trying to join requires some more addons than just Avgani Iraq. The CO@ 10 Iraq Street Patrol v09b - avgani - Mission for example requires the FFAA - Insurgents aswell. Also take a look at your local hosting options, if you try to host a LAN - game and the OPX - Avgani - Map doesn't show up it is most likely that your modfolder containing the avgani - addon is not set up correctly.

    co30 Domination! One Team

@ Dogsbd: No, there is no way those sockets can be destroyed so that they collapse inside this mission and I never have seen any of them destroyed since I play ArmA so far. And we tried everything to destroy that BRDM. (you can see it partially on the pics) When you are inside of one of those sockets, you may plant dozens of satchels beneath your feet, blow them up and you wont even get hurt from them. Some of us did not want to give up the mission and even tried to push that BRDM out of that glitch by running against it for about 10 minutes.. Just before we ended it the whole area was flattened by arty-, shilka-, tank- and rocketfire. ..unfortunately the only "buildings" left so far were those sockets / pedestals or whatever so called..

    co30 Domination! One Team

Hi there, we played the Domination One Team v3.09 WEST tonight and I have to report an error that forced us to restart the Mission completely. We started that Mission with 10 main targets and on the 6th main target that was Ortego, we found an BRDM 2 that had spawned inside one of the Sockets / Pedestals that holds some buildings of that city. We tried everything to destroy it but failed, even if we managed to get inside that socket / pedestal by ourselfes via the mobile respawn, we could not even blow it up with satchel charges that we planted directly under that BRDM. This way we were never able to finish this main target and advance with this mission. I have made some screenshots so that you can see it with your own eyes. thanks for your attention, r:g

    multiplayer crashes

Hi, I have had a similar problem quite a year ago. The symptom was that I could not join any server, as soon as I clicked the 'Join' button, ArmA crashed to desktop. I could play singleplayer but I could not join or even host a multiplayer game. This started very suddenly while I was playing a multiplayer game and before that, everything went fine. So it could be that you are having the same problem that I had before. The cause and solution The cause for the problem was a corrupt 'custom soundfile' (*.ogg - format) that was located in: C:\Dokuments and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\ArmA\tmp\ (path translated from german, so it might be incorrect) Even after a new installation of ArmA the file still was sitting there (took me quite a couple of hours to figure that out). This soundfile could not be deleted the normal way, instead I had to use a little helper program called "unlocker". After I deleted this file (and the 'tmp' - directory), ArmA worked fine again. Here the unlocker - link (unlocker is freeware by the way): Unlocker Developer I hope this will be useful to you.

    smarter a-10s

Hi, the reason why AI fixed wing pilots normally do not use their machineguns on ground targets is the short range the AI spots and identifies enemy targets in "normal" ArmA. So the pilot is simply too fast and too close to correct his flight path towards the ground target to be able to aim his machinegun at it, when he finally spots the ground target. When we had the TrueRangeAI - Addon installed on our server, we found the AI engaging us with their machineguns a couple of times, because they had enough time to correct their flight path after spotting us on the ground. TrueRangeAI - Thread: clicky There is a more actual addon within the recently released true gameplay mods which should do the same thing but better, even though we have not tested it yet: clicky

    PVP 2 Sided Evolution

Hi, we were playing this one for some hours with RC7 now.. (lol 3 new revisions of this mission came out while testing RC7..) Nevertheless I would like to share some problems we found in the RC7 - revision, because they were not mentioned here already and maybe they have not been fixed in RC10 yet. 1. One thing we found was that the FARP's did not work. Vehicles just did not get their repairs when the FARP was build close to them. 2. Also the automatic - vehicle - maintenance function at the Team's homeplate did not work as it in original Evolution does. 3. The bleeding script did not stop the player making bleed even if a medic healed the player or the player healed himself at a medic - tent or a medic - truck. Suggestion: Give the Option to disable the Blackout - Effect, A lot of players visiting the mission found that this gets quite on one's nerves (including myself) beeing distracted by this stroboscope - effect (especially when piloting aircrafts). As I have not tested RC10 yet, please forgive me if I mentioned problems that have already been fixed. The mission gets better and better, great work. [EDIT]: The mission is currently beeing hosted on: Jaegerbataillon Nordland Coop (v1.09b - AddOns allowed) FYI: The mission - name has been altered to: PVP 60 EVOLUTION Red VS Blue RC12 The file - name has been altered to: pvp_60_evolution_red_vs_blue_rc_12.sara.pbo (This happens to all missions that are beeing hosted on our coop - server due to the clarity of the mission - menu)

    PVP 2 Sided Evolution

Hi, as we tried the mission, we found two problems: The first one was that the counter for the Blufor Team's cities did not work properly. The Capture of Paraiso City (or Somato, both captured by AI) was not counted, so the Blufor Team always had one town less than the Opfor Team and therefore earned less points than Opfor also. The second one was that the AI got stuck with its pathfinding in Dolores. The convois of all AI - Teams from the Blufor Team did not find their paths over the East bridge of Dolores and drove their trucks into the water. ..and kept doing this all the time. So the AI from the Blufor Team was not able to capture cities further away from the HomeBase than Dolores. Maybe this is the cause for the "AI - disappearing - problem" that was mentioned above, maybe not. However, if this mission is beeing played with AI enabled, the AI's pathfinding is interrupted by the Dolores' bridges. I like the concept of playing Evolution PvP, giving it a touch of CTI. This is one I see great potential in, so keep up the good work.

    Do you like Evolution?

Evolution by itself is a great mission, somehow I love it for giving us a lot of objectives with a lot of features, bringing us many hours of (sometimes really good) gameplay. It is one of the few COOP - missions where it is possible to use all of the vehicles that are included in Armed Assault and make effective use of the full spectrum of ArmA - warfare. If you have some players on your server who are willing to play cooperative ( ..and I mean -cooperative- ), nearly every scenario may be planned and executed. And somehow I hate it for using its point orientated ranking system (which unfortunately is necessary if you play/host this mission public), which makes a lot of people who frequently play EVOLUTION very "selfish" in their behaviour when they go and play other COOP - missions.. In Evolution you have to gather quite a great amount of points for beeing allowed to use the heavy machinery, even for the use of some better infantry - equipment it is necessary to gather points first. So what people do is go and gather points the fastest way they can, starting to watch and check the scoreboard for their score very frequently. The thing why I do not like Evolution for that is the fact, that those players start to behave that way in all other COOP - missions, too. Some symptoms of beeing "Infected" by Evolution: People start to blow up unmanned vehicles instead of securing the area for beeing able to capture it. People go and die a lot because they try to engage large enemy forces by their own instead of requesting help from other teammates, even if they are under heavy fire from those enemies. They will not stay in cover, mark their and enemy positions on the map and wait for friendly reinforcements to arrive, but they will shoulder their M136 and try to blow up one of those tanks even though small arms bullets from all directions are whizzing by.. And don't get me wrong, I like Evolution, it is a great mission. But this mission "infecting" unaware people with it's point orientated ranking system is a serious problem in my opinion and I just wanted to mention that. All you need is to be careful not to get yourself an "Evolution - Overdose".

    Co30_RSS_BurningFields_V2

Hey there, great work with your BurningFields mission. We played it through on our Server tonight and we had real fun out there. Some Bugs we found: 1. We could not get the mission to end properly because the destruction of the radar tower near the woodland base did not trigger the related objective to be done. (It was destroyed by shots from the T-72 MainGun) 2. We encountered CTD's when we killed enemy units at the Pita - Airport (yeah, its not an objective but we found enemies there when we chose a flightpath to Masbete that led us over Pita, so we wanted to take them out..) First I was the one who killed a lot of enemies at the Pita - Airport with the Hokumn and then had the CTD. Later, in an effort to recapture the Hokumn from the Pita - Airport, a teammate had to kill more enemies there to secure the area. When he killed some of them, he also got the CTD. 3. In the first fights it sometimes gets VERY laggy when the AI calls in reinforcements from the other towns whereby the lag disappears while the mission advances. 4. The Briefing is written for the BLUFOR - Side while the Side we play in this mission is OPFOR. We will definately play this mission again even if the above mentioned Bugs are not fixed.

    Instant viewdistance

FYI: I found the problem that caused the conflict between my Instant viewdistance and _Pingu_'s Claymore AddOn. During my research on that issue I found out that _Pingu_'s Claymore AddOn also conflicted with the GDT mod Satchel - AddOn causing players not beeing able to remote - detonate the vehicle - attached satchels anymore. I managed to make all three AddOns, Instant viewdistance, GDT mod Satchel and _Pingu_'s Claymore, work together at the same time without any noticeable problems. I sent a PM to _Pingu_, telling him what exactly caused the problem.

    Instant viewdistance

@ rstratton It could be that there are occuring some problems with locality of some functions. But I have to test it by myself trying to replicate that error for getting more understanding to being able to fix this, what takes some time for me to do. I will take a look into it as soon as I find the time for that. @ LtCmdrBoon The problem was that there are many good COOP - missions out there that were made quite a time ago when there was no such a viewdistance - function available for the mission designer to implement in his mission. Also a lot of quite actual COOP - missions are lacking such a feature due to whatever reasons. And to bring it to an end, these are my last words to this "cheat" - discussion here: So what about all the other AddOns that bring advantage to the player who has loaded them above players who have not loaded that addon? It is the same thing with every addon that brings a client sided change. Just to name a few: -Custom tracers --> watch your bullets drop -Custom scopes --> be able to do more precise aiming -Realistic ballistics --> less bullet drop (works client side) -Some true - addons (headmovement and NVG for example) -Soundmods --> be able to recognize what weapon has been fired, remove supersonic crack, etc. All these AddOns bring advantage only to the player who has loaded them and are able to be used in PVP - Missions, so does mine. Some of those AddOns have the same statement in its readme - file that says something like: "using this AddOn in PVP - missions may be considered cheating" And I named just a few examples here.. Also not to mention that the Instant viewdistance AddOn may be disabled in its function on specific missions, while most of the other AddOns may not. @ Dwarden and others Sorry for me replying to offtopic again, this will be my last statement to the "cheating" - discussion in this thread.
  23. radical.ghost

    Instant viewdistance

@ rstratton That sounds really weird. So what I'm asking now is: Did you try to run the Instant viewdistance - AddOn serverside or not? Because: If you have the 1.1 version, to me the only plausible reason the AddOn stopped its work for multiple users at the same time is that you tried to put it on your dedi - server. As I stated a few posts before: If this is not the case: :: tells me that it IS the case.So granting that you tried to install the Instant viewdistance AddOn on your dedicated server: Remove the Instant viewdistance - AddOn from your dedi server and tell your friends to install it on their local machines. That should solve the problem.
  24. radical.ghost

    Instant viewdistance

@ Heatseeker and Baddo Did you read all the posts in this thread? If yes, I'm wondering what you are complaining about. There are so many ways for a mission or a server to prevent this AddOn doing its work. It can currently be achieved by: - setting the weather conditions on your mission / your server - putting the line : "executed = 1;" into the init.sqf / sqs of the mission ( but in the next version (v1.2) I will change that one to be: "IVDS_disabled = 1;" ) - not allowing this addon to be used on signature verificating servers And once again: 1. There are too many COOP - type missions out there that would need to be updated and re downloaded by every client just for adding a larger viewdistance. 2. Cheaters are able to alter their viewdistance anyhow (without the Instant viewdistance AddOn) with little effort and gain their advantage from being able to do so while others are not. So if such an AddOn is available for ALL to download and use, the advantage the cheaters currently have above players will be quite zeroed out because EVERYONE may download this AddOn and alter his / her viewdistance to a larger value.

    Instant viewdistance

@ Uziyahu--IDF I guess I now understand what you are thinking of with this. But sorry, this one is currently going beyond my knowledge of scripting / function writing, so unfortunately I have to decline the writing of an AddOn that provides this function. @ rstratton This AddOn is client side only, you should not put it on your dedi - server. ( I have not tested its behaviour on a dedicated server yet ) But this is also stated in the readme file. The Bug with the Instant viewdistance stopping its work after respawn has been fixed already and you can download the latest version of the Instant viewdistance - AddOn from the first post of this thread. @ 3k.Baxter Thanks for your suggestion, but since Instant viewdistance is providing quite easy and intuitive access to its functions already I think it would be a step backward to implement such more "complicated" functions.
