ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead discussion thread
ricbar89 replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Self designation is more realistic, rather then just tabbing to magically lock up say a tank the gunner would have to fire a laser, stick it on the tank, lock the laser (automatic?), fire the missile at the laser and keep the laser on target. Much better then the crappy tab click, tab click, tab click system. -

HDR is screwed up on FLIR too, flames drown out eventhing else. Anyway the FLIR looks great apart from that, really impressive. -

No, FLIR is displayed as black/white, the colour change comes from what is used to view it. As pointed out if its a monochrome MFD then the plot will view it with a artificial green tinge, but someone controlling a predator will probably have a full colour display so it will look black/white. Recordings are viewed on TV not a monochrome so theres no artificial tinge like the pilot sees. Javelins dont display green they display black/white. -

Im amazed they still have monochrome displays, i would expect the old Apache's were built with them but i thought they would have been upgraded and the new ones upgraded. Like the old F16's have monochrome MFD's but the the new blocks have full colour dont they? Anyway if that the case im guessing the display depends on what you're using, which is great attention to detail. -

Anyone notice the green tinge to the FLIR, what happened to the white hot, black hot look? I know some optics use a mix of nightvision and FLIR but ive never seen any footage from AH64 like that. I doesnt look as good as the older footage of FLIR IMO. -

Thats greats news, these sort of things have always bugged me. Overall OA looks like a big improvement, adding features and making little changes that should make all the difference. -

Thats great news about he Javelin, one little thing, i could be wrong about as i have not played much ARMA/ARMA2, so I may be getting mixed up with OFP. The AI sometimes pulls a weapon out, say a RPG and fires it really quickly, taking very little time to aim if any, i always found that kind of weird, i guess its part of the coding, the AI acquires a armored target, switches the the anti-amour weapon has already "aimed" during the weapon select animation so fires. Especially weird when it comes to a weapon like the Javelin, perhaps some sort of algorithm could be made to make sure the AI needs a sec or two to aim the weapon they just pulled out, and maybe a bit longer depending on the weapon, for example it could take anything from 5-8 seconds for the AI to fire the Javelins to simulate them acquiring and locking the target (real life may take longer so thats a guess :p ). Just a thought, but the "insta-fire" im thinking about could be fixed by now, if so nevermind. -

Will there be proper optics and targeting systems in OA? I mean look at the Javelin optics and targeting in ARMA2, a proper Javelin optic with working FLIR and a new targeting system is really needed. It would also be nice if the player had to assemble it a bit like Dragon Rising, im not expecting as much detail but something along the same line would be great. -
What if Rockstar hooked up with Bohemia to make ARMA game.

And i've never seen a working one in a BIS game (nonscripted anyway). I would take Rockstars driving AI over BIS, apart from some manic lane changing on the bridges its pretty good. If a car stops in front of it it waits, it doesn’t try to go round, hit a tree, then reverse back onto the road facing the wrong way, blocking the next vehicle, which trys to do the same and so on… -
What a stupid notion, who cares what the airsoft kids do, that shouldnt make a difference to those who's lives can depend on it.
-
Sorry i have to agree with those guys, you dont know better than Mossad, this is beyond your interpretation and your facts are unconfirmed and you can never know everything. Unless you know everything you're not in a poistion to judge.
-
Never mind then, i thought it might have been refering to one of the assasins hiding in the room.
-
Hope you've been lurking a long time to say that, and if you have you'd know that theres an even older and bigger 360 thread so i guess not.
-
What are you mean when it says they locked the door from the inside? If they were in the room they just locked it, why would they need all that jazz....? Sorry, forgot to add, are sure you're not talking about the fact one of the agents apparently hid in the room.
-
I think what you're failing to understand Walker is you’re interpretation of what are flaws and weaknesses are based on limited understanding of organizations like Mossad works. Who says these identities are real and how where they so easily and quickly tracked down, using the now shown to be fake passports? Who says all these agents will even be used in the field again? Who said they even had associates to risk? Mossad is known for its unorthodox approach to selecting people do these things. Why do they need to worry about people countering their efforts if this is a one off operation? Who says these guys even work directly for Mossad? Being linked to Mossad doesnt mean you're Mossad. My point is this goes beyond such simple interpretation. And Mossad is known for getting the job done, not getting the job done quietly and cleanly, and the job has been done, and their back home without incident.
-
No offence but you're a guy on BIS internet fourms, i think Mossad knows a little better then you. They knew what they were doing and had there reasons for doing it the way they did.

Dont know if you've get it working now but its not lagging, its buggy, if the mouse goes on (or to near) the video the image cuts out. Just tab it in and out and it should work. -
Got this from the JCOVE forums: http://www.jcove-lite.co.uk/showthread.php/never-never-mess-284.html And yeah i agree, its stupid, its just a program at the end of the day, how someone acts in what many will see a game (whether they like it or not) does not mirror how they will act in real life. How many people are honestly going to take a disk they got from there AFCO a seriously as they real thing? How many COD playing guys will just shoot the first thing in sight when they're learning the controls and wanting to check out the effects etc. If the MOD did ask for it its just silly to be honest.
-
If i recall correctly when you are given the brief for the range there is some kind of warning about the how MOD takes it seriously, i cant remember what it says and if it hints there might be consequences, or i might just be wrong, perhaps you guys with a working install might let us know. :p To be honest i wasnt paying attention, apart from a quick look i was straight into the editor.
-
Erm its not a joke, i checked program files and the game is gone, apart from a few files left over. It actually lagged for a couple of seconds then quit before giving me a message how the MOD takes it very seriously.
-
Thats crazy lol, its only a program at the end of the day. I wish Takko would have said, anyway im not to bothered, i only wanted a look at it.
-
Now i have a "No entry'.profilePathDefault" message and it wont start. :s
-
Just had a look, pretty good. BIS said the FLIR system from VBS will be in OA correct? Hope so, the VBS FLIR is brilliant, and ARMA really needs FLIR if it wants to be considered a proper MilSim.
-
That made you're skin crawl? Talk about getting worked up about nothing. Just because you dont play ARMA on the PC doesnt mean you're not hardcore. If someone who plays Modern Warfare on their console 5 hours a day, mastering the game, is fanatic in there interest of the game they're hardcore, and theres more Modern Warefare players then most games. Sorry if you want to claim such a widely used term for a small group of PC gamers but its not the definition. Total non issue to be making threads about.
