Hi Total I disagree on that one. The OFP ArmA community survived for 8-9 long years and nothing is going to change that. The community is more active than ever, daily releases of outstanding stuff and also MP will not vanish BFBC2 is not going to change that. Best regards:D

LOL. That made my day. I love it.:D regards @ Placebo watched the vid of pink yesterday 4 times in a raw. I agree 200%: Outstanding performance, the song is beautiful.

"and, if yes, mate. ..." : Why voice acting in games is poor...
nettrucker replied to sbsmac's topic in OFFTOPIC
Well imho a good voice acting adds to the imersion of a game. For example "Fly like an eagle" Armed assault mission by Saok had a good voice acting made by savedbygrace. The mission was great and the voice acting was the icing on the cake. I think a good voice acting is important especially in expression to reflect a certain mood the character's in. You definitely transmit emotions to the player when it's well done. Just my 2 cents.:D best regards P.s. get me a corpsman now:D -

Please post your description.ext in order to understand if there might be a mistake in the declaration. The example of description.ext I posted does work. Concerning the listing of the filenames, well maybe my information is a bit outdated since I learned this stuff way back, when the first OFP CWC was released, so yeah my knowledge might be outdated. regards:D -
hi there this Island is awesome. I had my first intense firefights in the thick jungle. You can see no sh*t and there was a lot of blind surpressing fire in all directions.LOL!:D Oustanding work. Thanks a lot bud. Regards

Adding music into game
nettrucker replied to kyzawarrior's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi there here's an example of the description.ext that works. class CfgMusic { // List of tracks (.ogg files without the .ogg extension) tracks[] = {ALCHEMY_INSTRUM}; Here you forgot to list the music file name // Definition for each sound class ALCHEMY_INSTRUM { name = "ALCHEMY_INSTRUM"; sound[] = {\music\ALCHEMY_INSTRUM.ogg, db + 0, 1.0}; titles[] = {0, ""}; }; }; Just replace ALCHEMY_INSTRUM with your music file name and it should work. Please be aware that you have to shut down ArmA II and restart in case you modified the description.ext otherwise the game won't recognize the modifications you made. regards -

nettrucker replied to dennisllante's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi BoneBoys AFAIK Arma Edit can be still used to create description.ext concerning sound and music files what definitely changed are the class names so the weapon load outs have to be edited manually @ Celery thanks for the update I just discovered this today, when back home I'll gonna update Arma edit. regards -

Voice actors forum group - find actors or become one!
nettrucker replied to celery's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi everybody I'm in need of help. I'm currently working on a campaign still WIP. There are 34 missions basically done. 11 of them have working cutscenes which will be later on modified accordingly to the storyline. 1.) what I'm looking for is definitely for voice actors and moreover 2.) someone who can write a storyline acoordingly to the visual input of the cutscenes. 3.) Help with briefings would also be appreciated since I'm no native english tongue. This campaign is taking place on Namalsk years later after the Chernarussian war During the Chernarussian war a lot of Chedakis fled Chernarus in order to prevent capture by Coalition forces and settled on Namalsk. They found a huge Diamond mine (sebian mine) and start buying from a Russian General all needed equipment to supply the second insurgent rise. A new conflict arises on Chernarus and Namalsk is the most important supply base for the new Civil war. Most part of war equipment From Namalsk is loaded on huge transport ships at Tara Harbor and then shipped to Chernarus. The kremlin tells the American to stay this time out of business on Chernarus. If they would do something useful then intervene directly on Namalsk and cut the supply line directly at it's origin. So that's in a few words the background story of the campaign. This campaign is strictly Infantry based. You play the character of Dan Peterson and you're just a simple grunt send over there to accomplish the mission. You won't be commanding in this campaign and my intents are to recreate a bit of a character as David Armstrong in CWC was. As a matter of fact there is no fancy stuff in the missions. There are no chopper nor tank missions only infantry. There will be combined armed missions though and air support. This might be boring for some . . . so in case you don't like Infantry combat you better don't play it, once it's done. In any case your objectives are very simple. You are forced to clear out all insurgents in every single village you can find on the map. So also here nothing fancy and I do like it especially for being simple like that. Your main concern will be to stay alive and try to survive. I only used the First Aid module all other fancy Arma 2 stuff has been left out on purpose. Playtesting during editing is challenging due the fact that I used quite some units. Sudden Death is often the only reward you achieve by being reckless and by not using every inch of cover and concealment at your disposal. The first aid modul does the rest to make things difficult. I added a save game option in the action menu in order to give the player the possibility of a fluent mission progress meanwhile playing on Veteran. It's too much frustrating with just one save point. What I want to create is a strong storyline along the character. In case you're interested please PM me and we can get into details. kind regards:D p.s. I did all the voice acting on the OFP "Too young to die" campaign apart from 1 voice. Armed assault SP "Dogtags" Native German Languages italian with accent english with European accent Have some sound editing skills p.p.s Ah by the way the campaign will have an original soundtrack:D -

nettrucker replied to goldkid80's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Yeah I definitely would buy it. haven't had big isues with Arma II. Runs Ok. Sometimes reading through the threads it seems to me that I purchased a different game, because I haven't had no problems whatsoever. I don't give s**t about fancy graphics, the gameplay is more important to me. I play with graphics set to normal and it's still looking good to me. Since there's no better wargame out there I stick to BIS titles. The day something better will show on the market then I will be happy because I got 2 fantastic games to play. After having played the whole series of BIS titles I can get rarely satisfaction in playing other games. I'm playing for 8 years straight and I get never annoyed. Sometimes I'm playing Silent Hunter or GR original just to take a break. Kind regards:D -

Hi Jean-Marc Nice to see, that you are still around. Sorry to hear that you can't play armA II. There was a thread around where another guy had problems to launch campaigns, but they were user made if I'm not wrong. Did you try with a new install and patching up to last ufficial game patch? Maybe there are some files corrupt? In any case it's really strange, did you post in the troubleshooting threads? Maybe someone can help you solve your problem. ArmA II is more close to OFP than ArmA I was. Kind regards nettrucker -
OMG I didn't follow this thread for a while now but I see that your Island is going to be an outstanding piece of artwork. I love the winter scenario. Can't wait for it to be released. keep up the good work. Kind regards p.s. We are really lucky to have so many outstanding terrain creators in our community. Really top notch quality.

Hi Daniel thanks for enlighten me. Yeah The Mars Volta is not some easy listening. saw them last year in Milan. The gig was a blast. 3 hours of non stop music. It was real great, even Cedrics voice live is not everytime perfect. In a record studio you can edit voices heavily, meanwhile live it's not possible, but it was great nevertheless. Stay tuned nettrucker

Yeah there are a lot of people which are not playing much online. I for myself had only a brief period online playing on charlie Foxtrot server. PvP. I loved it. Unfortunately RL issues prevented me from going on. Second the most fascinated thing abiut BIS games for me is the editor. I'm an editor guy and making missions is a very time consuming undertaking, the same as for the addon and modmakers. Countless hours spent in the editor more than actually playing. Well back on topic. Fact is as a newbie you gotta first learn how to play the game. Hitting a moving enemy at 300-400 m is not everyone's cup of tea, especially considering that the target is really small. Remember the first time I played "Steal the car" OFP single mission. Man I was real p***ed couldn't hit no sh*t, but there was my challenge. I had to learn how play the game first without getting capped every couple of minutes.LOL:D That was the first Mission I ever played back in OFP. Fact is that you get hooked completely or you don't. In case you don't . . . I guess than you miss to understand the spirit of this game and it's absolute freedom, to do whatever comes into your mind. I believe that the only limit is our own fantasy. @whisper I don't think that a lot of people are considering themselfes a better breed or think of elitism because they play BIS games. It's just a game . . . a special one for me and most probably for all community members. That's why we are here. This community is friendly as long as people behave and stick to the forum rules. Remember Wolle is not only behind you . . . he's everywhere . . . doing a good job. Games are as matter of fact an individual taste thing. Since I play BIS titles I have rarely fun playing other wargames. i just can't get the same satisfaction playing COD,MW. whatever . . . you name it. GR original and Silent hunter are games that I play when taking a break from ArmA, but I'm always coming back to BIS.:inlove: Do you think I gotta a problem??????LOL.:D Kind regards nettrucker

LOL. That made my day.:D regards nettrucker

Signed too. It was the best investment of PC gaming in my hole life. I own every title . . . playing for 9 years straight. The only negative aspect is, that I can't enjoy other war games anymore, except Ghost Recon the original one and the Silent Hunter series but that's about it. Tried lot's of different games but I found out that I got no satisfaction playing them so they are staying on the shelve. I'm getting very quickly bored with other games. No other video game has ever given me such thrills as the BIS titles. Nothing has ever been so immersive to me. Thanks for having invented the best game ever.:D Kind regards nettrucker

Hi IceBreakr WOW  I just stumbled about this. I understand your feelings and I know how much time it takes to do a map, since way back in the OFP days. On the other hand it's really sad to hear, since your Islands are an outstanding work which all members of the community definitely enjoy and appreciate. Thanks in any case for all your hard work and effort you have put in your addons. Respect. Kind regards nettrucker
