10th anniversary remix of the Battle at Le Port. Lt Maximilian Qubit, in 2006 platoon leader in the Le Port battle, is still haunted by the memories. Every night the battle is relived. In 2006, just after the battle, Lt Maximilian Qubit wrote the following poem. Some will say a battle, is Good against the bad But, all I saw were soldiers, equal Most of them now dead ~ Lt Maximilian Qubit https://maxqubit.wordpress.com/2016/08/20/the-dream-of-lt-maximilian-qubit-operation-flashpoints-battle-at-le-port/

Is the game/idea finally offcially cancelled? I saw on tothegame the word 'cancelled' next to the xbox360 version of ArmA2. Makes sense, but is it official? And can somebody provide me with a link (google and search only can do so much) Same questions for OA

This is an excellent idea.

That is one of the things i like about consoles (360 for me) cause everybody has the same input devices, the splendid 360 controller, and thus everybody is equal and thus we NEVER have to discuss this, and therefor it is ONLY the game under hand that matters. Everybody's equal, no cheating (except for 'bug' in the game, up to dev to repair) and gaming is 100% ... that is just damn relaxing, to know that you don't have to worry if your setup is better/worse than the guys next door:)To be raped by someone who is actually BETTER at the game? Np ... but to be raped cause that guys has 'better input devices/more expensive rig' ... how weak.
-
Don't worry, i play other (console) games. Like now BFBC2 demo on 360. MassEffect2 on hold, it is SP after all, with Bioshock2 coming up too ... so, no, i do not have any trouble finding something to play, even on 360.But in my non-gaming time i like to surf the net and chatter about certain games. ArmA2 on 360 is one of those things. Like the weather, you can't do sh*t about it but everbody is talking:)
-
No, but we can speculate (and pc gamers can rant if they want) because BIS didn't deny the possiblity.A simple official 'No we wont do a console version' from BIS would be sufficient to terminate this thread. Facts are that BIS didn't put out this msg (yet) ... so console ppl are very much in the clear to speculate whatever they want.
-
Beats me, idk why zillion ppl esp. kids buy those damned DS thingies. I mean ... small screen, some plastic pointer for controls and no modding. What gets into the heads of these dumbo's.Oh ... wait ... they play a GAME. (but for us semi-gaming-gods, we need our 2000$ setups to reach that 100fps on our 1920x1080 res screen. We do it for no less. We shall/must upgrade/tweak/mod until that perfect game finally arrives. We don't do 'simple' gaming pleasures. We have higher goals. We sit INSIDE to simulate the outside world. How clumsy) Zzzzzzzz (goes into hibernation to see in a few months if there is news about a possible OA 360 versio)
-
Makes sense to me. But this situation allready exists a long time, and no publisher deal shows up:( Just curious. Has OA anything to do with a possible console version, as i that OA seems to be more resource friendly (smaller, less vegetation, etc)?

Look basically you say 'i like wine more than cocacola' ... well i do too, i never drink cola, and prefer win anytime. But the fact remains that cola exist and in 2 major flavors coca and pepsi (ps3 and 360).You can't just continu by saying pc is better by denying consoles exists. And facts are just PLAIN SIMPLE. The supermajor FPS shooter of f***g alltime ... yep MW2 ... sells better on 360 than on pc. Things HAVE change my friend. In 2002 FPS reigned on PC ... but Xbox/Halo was an BIG indication that things were about to change. For FPS, consoles are now a fact! For RTS, MMORGP, Sims (and i mean the sims here;)) and small independent games, you still have pc platform which rules ... but frankly i don't see FPS leaving the consoles. And yes, a lot of it boils down to the ol' mouse+keyboard ... so the pc platform depends on that. Depends on consoles still struggling to get their controls for RTS right. Perhaps that will be a matter of time. Who knows. If 360 would allow mouse/keyboard and MS would promote it, things could have looked different already ... who knows. But consoles do not poromote mous+keyboard so pc games depending on that are still in the clear. (same goes for modding ... and that is one big reason why a game like ArmA2 still has to be on pc because it really can shine there)

pc = you need more RAM (gamer runs to shop) console = you need to optimize (dev goes back to work)
-
Really? lol, awesome:)
-
Lol, i check you out:) http://live.xbox.com/en-US/profile/profile.aspx?GamerTag=Placebo%20PRS (No DR, no MW2 lol, but hey do check BFBC2 when it comes out in march ... just for the fun of total destruction and awesome sound)
-
To grab console gamers by the throat you have to make sure you check all the right bullet points.Action, gfx, working online, options, story/gameplay. Yeah we are simple but we like to get things which work out-of-the-box ... DR esp. on console is half-finished (no editor, no possibility to dl pc missions, broken online, not enough options like weapon loadout etc) so Yes, most dropped it real soon, even before MW2 arrived. MW2 just works (it is arcade, but hey that can be fun too) and i expect BFBC2 to be incredible (gfx, audio and gameplay wise, although be it on the action/arcade side but less than MW2) And Arma2/OA ... well until now it is just vapourware on console. Argueing Arma2 is better than MW2/BFBC2 is just nonsensical when regarding consoles. MW2/BFBC2 is what we've got right now (that can be different from what i would like to see on consoles) and thats what i'm playing right now. No crying for what might come and no f***g crying from what was (if CM/BIS were real serious way back we could have had a OFP/360 a long long time ago ... but no, a split up ended that possibility ... maybe even it was the reason for splitup idk) I'd say let OA come forward and show what it is on consoles (or else just forget the whole idea and shut up)
-
Real gamers are gfx > gameplay, that is also fact:) (doesn't tell anything bout pc vs console, but sure DOES tell something about the gfx whoring some guys here do)
-
But the problem is that a pc game never can and will be optimized, and that therefor the devs won't do so. Consoles otoh have a fixed spec, which limits you yes, but when you come back for a sequel you worked with the specs before, know more tricks and that leads to better games ON THAT SAME SPEC:) Another good things is that all console gamers are 'equal' to a high degree. Same spec, same controller ... on pc you can buy your way into advantage. Anyway, Arma2 won't make it on console, pc gamers can/will be happy ... curious though if OA would make it to 360 and Nathal would actually work, would BIS go that extra mile and offer Nathal headtracking for 360, iso TrackIR for pc (just a thought)
-
Its tough to dev for a fixed spec. It is much easier to dump the game and say 'Ohh, btw you need to buy extra RAM, and a new gfx card would not a bad idea either' PC gamers (i was one) just like that, they really like to buy a 'new gfx card' and 'put in extra RAM'. It gives them more confidence that their beloved games run smoother, the other meaning of FPS. Granted, i don't see Arma2 ending up on console. Perhaps OA who knows ... BIS is limiting themselves on OA (if i understand correctly) so perhaps with a possible console version in mind. Who knows.
-
Doesn't make any sense.Patch numero 5 is good because they never worked on a console version anyway ... the logic some guys use to put down consoles is beyond me. 1: damn cold outside 2: yup, cause of all them mw2 copies on 360 1: yeah, well at least it keeps the console n00bs warm, if it doesn't rrod on them ... LOL (dzingg) 2: oh no, 1 is down (i know, it doesn't make sense either)
-
Well spoken:) Prejudice is bad habit which seem to come with age (48 here and having trouble to keep all that stuff off my back;))
-
That is a remote possibility ... but there isn't any actual proof save for some really old tidbits when the 360 version was perhaps still a real thing at BIS ... remember that long ago there was a reference to next-gen-console-TBD on BIS website ... not anymore, hence the signs are weak, very weak
-
I guess it is time to forget the whole Arma2/360 idea (much to the delight of pc gamers) because the facts speak for themselves: 1. No word/news/hint whatsoever from BIS 2. Ppl loose interest in the subject I had to dig up this thread, with only 2 msg in the last 14 days. Btw, i come by just out of habit, nothing special ... you can not count my posting as 'interest in ArmA2/360' (although it will *bump* this thread)

ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead discussion thread
maxqubit replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Why did you buy it? Every informer gamer knows EXACTLY what to expect when buying MW2 ... you action is as dumb as going into McDonalds and expecting a 4 course dinner. -
If ... big if .... IF BIS states that it 100% sure WON'T DO A 360 VERSION. Yes, then i would agree. Now, would you not agree it is up to BIS(!) to make the situation clear once and for all!!!! I have no problem whatsoever with no-console-version. But don't blame console owners for asking a console version when BIS let's the door open for speculation!
-
If i were BIS i wouldn't bother with a 360 port either ... surely if the pc sales would suffice, why on earth make it difficult for yourself. Make a nice pc game, let the pc guys pay and have a happy life. I'm all for it. I would do the same. I work 4 days, why would i work 5 (6/7) days if i can earn my living in 4. (but it would be nice if BIS would state this 'no console port' thingy, we could get over it, and our pc friends would not have to worry about the ill side effects a console version might have ... as said 1 Elite is more than enough:))
-
I'm not going to 'defend' consoles, but ...say for the sake of argument that PROJECT NATAN actually will work (in 2010) and say for the sake of argument that shooters (like RS, MW, DR, FC, GR and Halo, Gears and what not), racers and flight with minimal trouble will include your basic head tracking (looking around) out-of-the-box ... That certainly will step up the realism and you need a console to make it mainstream. TrackIR is very nice (btw, i don't have it) but it isn't mainstream, it is very exclusive. You want to bring headtracking to the masses, you need a console platform to do it for you, adn MS sure is on its way it seems. Same as XBL. It did bring online to console, no big deal, pc had that years before. No but the big plus to XBL was the integrated friends list AND the voice communicator, both out-of-the-box. (Dumb) masses need things which work out-of-the-box. XBL, FL, voice comm were those things in the past. Who knows NATAN will be the next big thing. I'm very curious (but have a strong 'see it before i believe it' attitude towards it)

Errrm, you should direct those questions to BIS!!!BIS holds the key! If BIS thinks Arma2 on console would not work they really should come forward and tell it like 'THERE WILL BE **NO** CONSOLE VERSION OF ARMA2' so we (pc and console gamers alike) could finally dump the whole idea. Now ... did BIS send out this msg? i guess not (yet) So ... are we (console gamers) from time to time curious if/when BIS will come forward? well, i guess i'm still curious ... but hey, i'm curious what the weather will be tomorrow so no big deal for me to visit this/any forum from time to time just to check up. Don't read anything into it, i know perfectly well that if i want to play ArmA2 atm, i should go PC (problem solved)
