James "Planck" McNicoll: 1952 - 2010 Rest in peace our friend.
MachoMan replied to hoz's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
Wow, that is very bad news. I will always remember him as one of the key members of the OFPEC team. In the days when OFPEC was going down hill he was one of the key people to stand up and be willing to keep on going. He was important in keeping the more temperament-full people like Bedges and myself from blowing up OFPEC over trivial feuds, petty brawls and minor setbacks. Thereby allowing OFPEC to survive an thrive. To you sir, I take my had off. You will be remembered and missed. -
Expected performance, any1 similar rig?

Are you running any background tasks, how much memory do they eat up? Look at those kind of things. For example what virusscanner are you running? Try disabling it and run the game again, does that make a difference? Ow and btw, I run it on winXP. I'm not sure if that makes a difference. -
Wow too bad I didn't notice this thread before ... You guys just made my day. Are you actually serious??? You are kidding, right??

To be honest those suggestions are not really needed!, the games runs quite well on my pentium D 930. It might run worse if you have a pentium d 8**, they perform a bit worse. I only have 3gb of RAM and use a gf9600, which is OC-ed. Anyway, I can play the game on (all) high settings at 1280 * 1024, view distance 1800, with a fillrate of 100% with only the occasional hiccup. I advice you clean up your machine (do defrags, get some free diskspace, etc, etc.) before considering upgrading. -
Hmm, I have the starforce edition so that shouldn't be an issue here. Then again starforce is probably even worse!

Has anyone actually tried running an ArmA server on wine? And if so, were you successful?
-
That would only be true if XP didn't use any of that 1GB RAM at all.
-
No need to reinvent the wheel, we already have ofpec.

afaik the MAG, GPMG & M240 are based off the german MG42 rather than the bar. Both right: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_MAG

yes, that's what he's sysop for, right?

CONCERNING GER-DOWNLOAD VERSION AND PATCH 1.02
MachoMan replied to ubernoob's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
odd, makes me wonder why it seems to work just fine on my machine. -
To the people who are playing ArmA, how is it?
MachoMan replied to evilnate's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Having only one stick of RAM may well be your problem, unless the ram runs at 800 mhz (which is unlikely). Buying a second stick of RAM, making sure everything runs in Dual channel, may seriously help your performance. -

Dual Core User try the following

Well, psu's have nothing to do with your suggested fix. Anyway, on the topic of psu's, I suggest you take a look here: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculator.jsp If you fill it in you'll see 600W is over the top. 385W may be a bit short tho. I suggest you buy a good 500W supply from an A brand manufacturer. Reading this may also help. -

I highly doubt this will fix anything for arma, using the method of timing isn't used in modern games. (Remember the old games that ran faster on a new pc.) Setting the affinity is also unlikely to work, since windows will send the game process to the least busy core. -
I'm sorry to bring you bad news sniper, but bugs in patches really are quite common. Nothing to get too worried about.

Script error log/dumpfile
MachoMan replied to KaRRiLLioN's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Unlike in Ofp, scripting errors in ArmA end up in the arma.rpt file. -
I hope not, shadow. The G85 is a much more ambitious idea, adding completely new content, of course it has a future.

That may be true, but we have Mik's eliteness, we know the cpp syntax, we know how to convert OFP scripts to ArmA scripts, etc. Creating a mod is not all about modelling.

weather or not it is possible to run two ArmA processes has nothing to do with the fact that you have a dual core processor or don't.
-
In case you can't disable it you may be able be able to remap port 80 to a local machine, running a http server. Next you create some squad XML file on the server, which you will feed to your OFP server. If you're running Apache, you can use .htaccess files to map any url to a specific file. That way you'll be sure the XML file is working okay.

DXDLL 1.0 (not Geforce MX compatible)
MachoMan replied to kegetys's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Has anyone been able to make the reflections work with a GF 7600? It's a pretty new cart, so one can be quite sure all features all supported, it would be a petty if it doesn't work. Might be the new nforce drivers I guess, I've read about more trouble with those above. -
Really sweet, I was looking at the A&M:D thread just yesterday thinking, hmm hope they release those soon. This is a good way to start the day.
