User Add-On Guide for more Realism and Immersion (ACE2-based)
domokun replied to the.d's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Glad you're already enjoying some of these already. You therefore better appreciate of their benefits and limits rather than here-say. As for "reduced sun glare" don't get GTD HDR confused with GDT Sun. Personally I agree with the sunglasses mod but only if you character has them and would therefore need to put them on or remove them (rather impractical at night). You're right though about JTD Smoke & Fire as well as WarFX. Personally my PC can handle both fine. And my SP games look awesome with them! Regarding GL4 I'm planning to add it to my target line as my machine is our server. Currently my target line reads: -mod=beta;@LandTex;@DDT;@PVT;@SLF;@GDT;@JTD;@zcommon -nosplash (where DDT and PVT are Kju's marvellous mods for reducing LOD stutter). So I'd like to use add GL4 but I have a few questions: a) Can I simply run GL4 like Zeus? i.e. standalone. Or do I need to edit the missions to add GL4 elements? b) Given that I do not yet use ACE and that I use the non-ACE Zeus, can I still use your GL4 UserConfig template? c) Will I loose any functionality if I only run GL4 on the server? i.e. if we don't run GL4 on the clients? Looking forward to trying the legendary GL4 (adored GL3 in A1) -
Zeus AI Combat Skills
domokun replied to Protegimus's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Really like your mod but I have a quick but fundamental question - when you write "Player and server profile skill levels significantly affect gameplay" which profiles should I be editing? Let me explain, I run missions on my machine for my clan. I've also noticed that there are 2 ArmA2Profile files in My Documents\Arma2 directory. So do I need to edit both ArmA2Profiles? Also do my players need to edit their profiles too? -
'Cipher' - full dynamic [SP & MP/Coop] with unlimited replayability
domokun replied to wiper's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Our team really like this mission but we seem to have a problem with wounding, i.e. when our members are shot and injured, they don't seem to take damage. The only mods that I'm running are Zeus AI, GDT (HDR & RPG sights) & JTD (Fat Rain & Flies). Anyone else experience this? Any ideas on how to fix this? -

The.D: great to see starting this type of thread. I really appreciated it in A1. Last night we got p4wned big time by the AI and gradually everyone started bitching. It wasn't until this morning, when I checked your recommended ArmA2Profile that I realised I'd previously tweaked the Skill and Precision for the AI too high. So I'll be testing your values this week. They had better be good or else my clan will have my guts for garters! In the meantime, here are a few mods in the same vein as Sakura's Light Fix, i.e. nice visual improvements for little or no overhead, so you might want to add them under Misc: JTD Fat Rain - 1MB JTD Flies - 2MB GTD RPG sights - 2MB GTD HDR - 1MB Just a word of warning: JTD Fire & Smoke is awesome but we've stopped using it because it is too taxing for most of our machines. I'm not saying remove it because if your machine can take the hit it's well worth it. However it's not just a server side mod; it also needs to be install client side to work correctly. Hope that helps -
I'm happy for you but what exactly did you change?

I really like this idea. Can it be installed on just the server? Or does it need to be also installed on clients? -
As a fellow Brit I'd be very interested in helping out. Although it's no better than anyone else's, I have a fairly distinctive accent (its unequivocally British), some experience in voiceovers and half-decent recording equipment. So how about you give us a few lines to voiceover? That way it'll make it easier for you compare the clarity, diction and quality of our contributions? I suggest a mix of orders and acknowledgments, long and short.

Zeus AI Combat Skills
domokun replied to Protegimus's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hi I first starting using Zeus AI, a few months ago with CBA v0.2. It seemed to work fine in SP as well as MP. Life was good :p Last week I updated CBA to v0.3. Although I installed it to separate directory to CBA v0.2, it needed to install files to the "source" directory. These files seemed more recent that the previous version so I agreed to overwrite them. Last night my mates and I played online and immediately we encountered problems. We all saw messages about "CBA main" or something other. We continued playing as it didn't seem to interfere with our game. Except that gradually we noticed the wounding system seemed completely out of whack, i.e. we would take damage but we never seemed to suffer any effects (injury or even death). As I host the mission, we quit out of the mission and I edited the target line so that we reverted to CBA v0.2. We started the same mission expecting everything to return to normal, but although we didn't receive the "CBA main" error message we still encountered problems with the wounding system. Finally, I quit again and this time I re-installed CBA v0.2, thereby overwriting the existing files in "source" directory with the older ones. This time we tried again and the wounding system seemed to work correctly. So I guess my questions are: 1. Can I run the latest version of Zeus AI on CBA v0.2 without any loss of functionality? 2. If so, apart from loss of user-commanded AI, will other players experience loss of functionality if only I run this mod (players are reticent to installing mods), i.e. if Zeus AI only runs on server (and not clients) what is lost? 3. What benefit is there to running CBA v0.3 vs v0.2 with regard to Zeus AI? 4. Do you know why we encountered these problems to the wounding system when running Zeus AI & CBA? 5. Is there anyway to check that Zeus AI is running properly? Many thanks for all your work. It's really appreciated. If you had any doubt, did you know that the CIA co-op server (very respected) only runs 1 mod and it's yours! Cheers -
Dumb question but does the FFUR85 mod include both Mr Burns Islands and Symbiot's + Atherakhia's retextured roads?
-
From what I've read that WW4 can be, with a bit of work, made to work with the ECP mod. Is it possible, to get WW4 to work with the FFUR mod, e.g. FFUR 85?

graphics bugs with ATI 4800 series (4850/4870/4890)
domokun replied to fjaekel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I solved my flashing polys problem by replacing WinXP 32 with Win7 64-bit :D My video card is a Radeon 4850 512MB Seriously it's a little crazy to install another OS simply to get a game to run correctly.... :( -

I totally agree. Though I really respect the work and effort that has gone into this. I have to say that it's the least intuitive tools I've ever used. And that's from someone who's worked as a functional consultant with 10 years experience in IT. -

domokun replied to fjaekel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
@ kklownboy : emptying the card's memory using the "flush" command worked but 15 seconds later the flashing polygons invaded my screen ::eek: yes my 4850 is a 512MB card. I understand I'd be better off with a bigger card but how big a card do I need!? it works fine in every single other game!!! @ telejunky : I tried setting VRAM and texture detail on Normal and Default. Changing these settings results in the same effect as the "flush" command, i.e. 15 secs of clear gameplay before poly invasion :( This is crazy. I have recent hardware. A legitimate copy. Yet it doesn't work! The only credible suggestion is to replace WinXP with Win7. Replacing a tried and tested OS with a unreleased one!!!! Come on BIS! Sort it out! Instead of releasing beta patches that correct minor issues, how about addressing this one? -

domokun replied to fjaekel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
@ kklownboy : I deleted the latest beta patch (59323) and installed the preceding one (59210) but it didn't make a blind bit of difference. Next I set (in Video options) my vidram to default. Although this made a difference, it only last 2 seconds before the return of the flashing polygons. @ Dwarden : I tried using the -winxp command line but that didn't make any difference either. Maybe that's because I only have 4GB and run WinXP? I then updated my Catalyst drivers from 9.8 to 9.9 but that didn't improve the situation either. I even deleted my ARMA2.cfg to start afresh. Guess what? No improvement. I'm really fed up. I've spent hours trying to sort this out and the game is still completely unplayable. Any other ideas? -

domokun replied to fjaekel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi, After months of increasing quality, my copy of A2 has just taken a huge step backwards: After upgrading to the 1.04 patch my game is now foobar. The problem lies with the in-game rendering. Within less than a minute my screen is filled with flashing polygons. So I tried the latest beta patch (59323) and guess what? The problem is even worse - after 1 second the screen is by a thick layer of dark gray-green, i.e. you can make out that the game is rendering correctly (no flashing polys) but its too dark to be playable. Despite reading about Radeons and the dreaded flashing polys, this never happened before. A2 has worked fine for 2 months, until now. In fact I was just beginning to think that the game was beginning to reach a playable state (perf + stability) FYI I run a Radeon 4850 (9.8 Cats), C2D @ 3.25 and 2GB RAM. Any ideas? -

Marco: sorry to hear about WRP's weirdness. I'm really looking forward to trying these out! -
During preliminary testing, I encountered the following error message: @SLX\bin\config.cpp/cfgweapons/ACE_BMP2Mgun30.picture Any ideas? Is it serious? How do I fix it?
-
@ Col Faulkner - I second Max's thoughts and also offer my support if you need a plummy voice over
-
Another huge THANKS My respect for SLX goes back to OFP! I can't wait to try it. In the meantime, 2 quick questions: 1. I noticed that the ReadMe is 3 months out of date (June 09) Has it been updated to reflect your latest changes? 2. Is this compatible with GL3 and ECS? Or should I drop these 2 because SLX incorporates their wizardry? Although I recently moved to A2, this is very appreciated as our clan still swears by A1 & ACE for co-op ;)

A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment Public Release!
domokun replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
@Vipermaul: sweet  our clan looks forward to hearing from your team. A2's performance woes have left us split. A1 and IL2 are just about all we agree on  -
@kju : thanks for the tip. I re-downloaded the caa1_p_Models_DBE1.pbo via Yoma and I no longer receive that error message But I now get another :o It's the same as mrjingo, i.e. "Addon 'caa1_f_camel' requires addon Extended_EventHandlers'" So, hopefully once he has a fix, I can use it :D BTW is it possible to use OAC files downloaded via Yoma for ARMA2 in ARMA1? i.e. if I want to play CWC campaign in ARMA1, can I used the OAC files from ARMA2?
-
Hi guys, Last night, I installed Yoma's Addon Tool and used it to download CAA1 and OAC. It all seemed to work brilliantly until I launched the game. Now I have 2 questions: 1. When loading A2 I receive this error message : Addon 'caa1_c_enablePorto' requires addon 'caa1_p_Models_DBE1' 1a. Is this normal? 1b. If not, what do I need to change? 2. Thanks to this mod, can you play any of the previous campaignes? 2a. OFP's CWC campaign? 2b. A1s Queen's Gambait? Many thanks, C.

Fine! Then feel free to PM me, if needed.
