  1. Perfect, thanks for all your help 7erra, everything is working perfectly now thanks to you.
  2. Thanks for the swift response, I appreciate it. Good to know I wasn't too far off at least, I was tinkering with selectRandom but couldn't figure out the syntax. Would this be made any easier or simpler if the array was already defined in init.sqf? Just so each trigger doesn't have to have duplicates of the massive amount of options I've set up.
  3. Hey folks, sorry if this is a duplicate I searched all over, didn't find anything that looked like what I needed. I'm working on a little S.T.A.L.K.E.R-esque mission for some friends of mine who are fans of the games, and I was hoping to add some randomized 'sideChat'-based dialogue for them to see as they walked through repeatable triggers centered around groups of AI at the safezones. I've created an array with all the different sentences of dialogue but I'm utterly clueless on how I would take a randomized sentence from the array and make the [west, "HQ"] sideChat "(randomly-selected dialogue)"; code reference it. I'm not even sure if dialogue storage is the proper application of arrays but that's what I get for being a scripting novice, so I apologize in advance if this is braindead simple. Also, if anyone could point me in the right direction as to how to do the same thing to a playSound3D command, that would be excellent - I've got a selection of sounds I'd like to randomly play in hand-picked houses all over the map.
  4. I appeciate everyone's input, it's really nice to see as a newcomer to the forums and modding in general. Thanks everyone.
  5. Hi all! Just some forewarning, I am a complete beginner level modeler (in my opinion) and also know zero about texturing, coding, etc. Me, being me, decided I really wanted to get the ol' Chieftain into ArmA 3, and since I enjoy Blender, whipped up a chassis model. Here it is: I know, I'm completely unqualified to take on this task, but I've really wanted to get into vehicle mods for ArmA 3 and figured I might as well try getting one of my favorite vehicle's in, with some help of course. That in mind, I've come here to hopefully get some advice from folk's who know their stuff, or are just willing to toss in their two cents. 1. I'm completely uncomfortable trying to make the turret, as it has a certain shape that I find very difficult to replicate, and I don't want to put something on this tank that I don't feel is authentic and respectful to the real vehicle, any advice on how to tackle this piece is appreciated. 2. I've never managed to successfully make a respectable texture for the vehicle's I've made, and was wondering if anybody could offer me some aid/advice on how I should go about whipping up some proper, decent quality textures, especially camo-type textures like so: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/22/73/1a/22731a4726741d178a36c884679c524f--carri-armati-model-tanks.jpg Keep in mind I don't have access to Photoshop, but I have installed Gimp. 3. I've got a plugin on Blender (ArmA Toolbox is the name) which allows me to convert my model from Blender to ObjectBuilder with LOD's and such attached, but I'm unsure how to go about creating those LOD's in either program since I'm a dummy, if someone could enlighten my dysfunctional brain, that'd be wonderful. 4. I've tried finding information on the specifics of getting a tank into ArmA 3, config and ObjBuilder wise, but I can't find much at all beside's the WIKI, which I have difficult grasping, am I just dumb or is this stuff not well documented? I think I've mentioned everything I was worried about but just for clarity's sake, I'd like to mention that I am eager to get into the whole process, as I've always wanted to create vehicles and weapons for my favorite game, but lacked the courage to ask the people who actually know how to do it. So yeah, that about wraps it up, thanks for taking the time out of your day to check and read this far, I really do appreciate it. Hopefully I put this in the correct area, if not I apologize and please move it, thanks!
  6. Got it, thanks for the heads-up HorribleGoat, I'll be sure to post similar articles in that section next time. I also appreciate the note on that FHQ Toolbox, I'll be sure to check that out!
  7. Thanks for the replies so far Flinty and Martin, I'm really glad to get such a lightning fast response. Will be taking a look at those videos, and also downloading the Samples and such.
  8. Hey folks, would love some aid/advice to complete a goal First off, I've been working on a vehicle in Blender that I'd like to add to ArmA 3 for myself and my friends, however I've run up against two big walls which could stop me from reaching my goal at all. 1. I have absolutely zero mod-making experience. I only just yesterday downloaded the ArmA 3 tools, as well as GIMP, and I don't even have a clue what I'm meant to do with these alien, unfamiliar programs. 2. I have difficulty learning without guidance. I work best with a mentor, somebody who know's exactly what they're doing, but unfortunately that's not an option for me with ArmA 3, I don't know anyone who could assist me directly or otherwise. All in all, my hopes to have my vehicle working, even at a very basic level (Moving, shooting) seem slim to nonexistent at this point, and it feels like I've got nowhere to turn to for help except here. Summed up, what I'd like to achieve is to get a working vehicle of my own Blender design, into ArmA 3, but I will most likely need somebody's help to do so. Apologies if this post is in the wrong section, please move it if necessary. Thanks for checking this post out!
