    Server Browser Trouble

I've actually had 3 different internet providers and lived in 3 different apartments through owning Arma III and this problem has always happened. I have fast and very stable internet that never gives me any problems at all. This problem has nothing to do with my internet.

Nah my internet is perfect. No lag ever. Didn't change anything for me unfortunately.

    Server Browser Trouble

I can only search for servers like once every 5 minutes. And then if I hit refresh again, no servers will pop up and I have to close Arma III completely and wait 5 minutes until I try to search for servers again. I have 2,525 hours into this game and it has been this way since the first hour. I ask other people if they have this problem and some say no, some say yes. Let me go through it very slowly so there's no confusion. I launch the game. I go to Multiplayer. I go to Filter. I type in "King" to search for King of the Hill missions. I hit Enter. It finds hundreds of servers. I think "Nah. I would rather play Wasteland." So I go back to the Filter, and type in Wasteland. Then I hit Enter again. The browser finds nothing. It sits there and does nothing. I can try different words, I can even search "King" again and it will still show nothing. The only thing that fixes it is shutting Arma down and waiting a few minutes. Then I can re-launch the game and search for servers one more time again. If I don't find the server I want right away, well, I will have to wait 5 more minutes for Arma. This has been happening since the day I bought Arma III and has happened on my PC (through like 5 Window reloads) and on my laptop as well. Re-installing the game or attempting to fix the game does nothing. When you guys were coming out with that new launcher server browser I was really excited because maybe that would work instead. Nope. The launcher server browser does the exact same thing.

    Riding The Bolt Home

Forward assists are nearly useless in real life. I've never seen one on an AR actually be needed. If you pull back and release the charging handle correctly, and you're gun isn't 1,000 years old, the bolt should seat the round on it's own correctly. If it does not, then your spring needs replacement and your gun will be malfunctioning. Forward assists are the most ridiculous unnecessary thing on weapons IMO! But honestly, that's getting a little off-topic. I was not speaking of forward assists in the game, nor is that what the animation is doing. The animation is them riding the bolt home. Yup! I haven't taken the time to test other weapons but yeah, the M14 is an obvious one! Hmmmm. Maybe on an AK you don't necessarily have to "slam it" into place but I'm just speaking in broad terms here. Most AR platforms these days require some force to seat the mag. Some weapons from different countries are unique and don't require that, however. Exactly! Follow the manual of arms on the particular weapon you choose to use and everyone will be happy. No one law rules in all situations. And hey, what's wrong with civilian stuff! I have the Beretta 92FS which is the civilian M9 and I carry that baby every day and love it! Don't hate on my civilian stuff man!

    Riding The Bolt Home

Of course there are always exceptions to a large rule! I didn't want to go into so much detail that the thread got off-topic though lol. Um I know for certain that the M14 (Marksman DLC) does it. I know for certain that the Lynx does it. Haven't really checked many others. I could though, and I'd probably find that a lot of the others do it as well.

    Riding The Bolt Home

This is no game-breaking issue, nor is it a bug. It's simply a "goof" by the BI developers. What I mean by the title "riding the bolt home" or "riding the charging handle home" is that if anyone is into guns or has any kind of gun training, whether that's for hunting rifles, shotguns for bird hunting, ARs for home defense, or handguns for conceal & carry, the one thing that everyone needs to know as a gun owner is to never ride the bolt home! In the military (which I am not in) I would feel it's very safe to assume that the instructors would also teach the same thing! Don't ride the bolt home! What does riding the bolt (or charging handle) home mean? It's a simple expression that deters soldiers/gun owners from pulling the bolt back to load a round, and then pushing the bolt forward with your hands. All semi-automatic weapons are capable of properly putting the bolt back into battery by means of spring tension. They do not need help from the operator and frankly, they do not want help from the operator. If you ride the bolt home you can actually cause a loading/feeding error in the weapon, leading to your death on the field! I have not looked at all of the weapons in this game to see if, during the reloading animation, this error happens... But I do know that it happens on some of the weapons and it bugs me to no end! The proper way to reload a semi-automatic weapon is to drop the mag, slam a new mag into the mag well, pull the bolt back and let go. By letting go, the tension of the spring will slam the bolt carrier forward and will properly seat a round in the chamber. I don't expect BI to fix this in Arma 3, but please.... Correct this in your future games. It looks very very amateur to be playing a military shooter and seeing the soldiers making this rookie mistake!
  13. How is this still a problem? When the Eden update was on the approach I was very excited. I figured for sure that BI would fix how the server browser just randomly stops searching for servers in multiplayer (Internet). Considering that they were adding a browser to the launcher I figured certainly they would fix the in-game browser at the same time. Everyone I know has this problem as well lol. It's insane how it's still an issue! If you don't know what I'm talking about... This is the explanation. Launch Arma. Go to Play - Multiplayer The server browser appears. In the Internet tab, you create a filter called "King of the Hill" and press refresh. You may refresh 3-4 times while searching for a server or attempting to join a full server and then... It just stops refreshing properly. You hit refresh and no servers appear. None. You hit refresh again and still the same result. In order to fix this I actually close Arma completely and wait 2 minutes and start it up again. That will give me another 3-4 good refreshes and then it will do it again. This has happened to me and everyone I know for my entire 2,400 hour Arma 3 career, on multiple PCs, with multiple different hardware setups. This problem has nothing to do with hardware or software. This is a BI issue that's gone on for too long.

What is your best/worst experience in Arma 3?

My best experience is every day when I play. Arma is like my life! However.... The game is so buggy that I can consider every day the worst as well. Not a day goes by that I don't die specifically because of Arma. Not from another soldier or player.
