Loading mods in Combined Arms - Steam version [Solved]

Recommended Posts

How do I do this? Simply adding the mod to the _runA2CO file will not work, I've been trying to solve this for hours with no avail. I put the mod in AO's directory, doesn't show up. I put the mod in ArmA II's directory, it doesn't show up, no matter where I put it mods simply will not show up. This is very frustrating. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

And no, I did edit the path in the _runA2CO file correctly.

I'm going to go pass out from sleep deprivation now.

are you saying that having installed a mod, (in the root of your OA/ArmA2 install) for example @cba, you do not see this mod listed when selecting the expansions tab in your gui?

amd what do you mean by "_runA2CO"

I've done a lot of searching before asking, Dwarden. Your thread was the first I found, unfortunately it only broke the links. And yes Terox, that is what I mean. _runA2CO is a batch file that loads ArmA II and Operation Arrow Head from Steam.

According to your initial post though, you have 2 seperate installations.

I put the mod in AO's directory, doesn't show up. I put the mod in ArmA II's directory, it doesn't show up

One for ArmA2

One for OA

This would NOT create a combined ops installation by default

A mod folder should be structured as follows

  • Mod (root Folder)
    1. Addons (Sub folder)

it may also contain additional sub folders for docs/dta/ etc

each addon in the mod folder should contain a config.bin or config.cfg file

When I installed my Disk version of OA, which defaults to installing directly into the ArmA2 root folder and ran the ArmA2OA.exe, addons that i had installed previous to OA, which includes @CBA and @ACE were automatically available for selection in my Expansions tab selection.

There are issues with a combination of Steam/DVD Arma" - Operation Arrowhead installs.

The information you gacve is not enough to detail the problem, so you might want to answer the following questions

  1. Is Your ArmA2 install Steam, DVD or Sprocket download ?
  2. Is Your OA install Steam, DVD or Sprocket download ?
  3. Is your OA install standalone or installed into your root ArmA2 directory ?
  4. Which mod are you trying to load
  5. What is your "_runA2CO" file ?

just tell me exactly what You trying to do ...

as when you running ARMA 2: CO via the "Launch ARMA 2: Combat Operations"

then that will autodisable internal mod manager ingame (always happen when "-mod=" used )

to resolve that and be able use the ingame mod manager

You need use the "manual method" w/o the _runA2CO.cmd

it's described in the first post of linked thread

You know how it is when you're tired...

Well I actually have the same problem as original op, what bothers me about your solution is that I have no idea what it does and I do wan't to know what I'm doing to my install.

You just jump straight into the instruction on how but I wan't to know why and what effect it has on my install.

Ok my situation for example. I bought Arma 2 through steam, later on I also bought OA also through steam. Now I can run Combined arms by using a _runA"CO.cmd that comes with the game. But no other AddOns.

On your site you say:

STEAM users;

latest version of batch is now part of STEAM release , please re-validate cache

Spoiler:

so replace _runA2CO.cmd manually (attached in .zip to end of this post)

file is located e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ARMA 2 Operation Arrowhead\_runA2CO.cmd

Why is the other info in spoiler tags. is it not valid anymore?

If it's still valid you mean I'm supposed to overwrite the _runA2Co.cmd with yours. What does that do, what effects will it have. Where then am I supposed to put my mods? Will it create a new folder somewhere?

I'm thankful for your help but I just don't understand how this is supposed to work.

Put your mods in Steam. Go into steam. Library/Games, then right click on OA and click on properties, under the General tab you will see "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS...". Put your mods there>

Thats the way I figured it out anyway.

Mine looks like this

"-nosplash" "-mod=@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX;@ACEX_SM;@CSM2;"
