thomsonb 3 Posted July 3, 2010 (edited) I have serious problems with low framerates on the Operation Arrowhead Campaign missions. Especially missions 6 and 7. It is almost unplayable. It seems to be a CPU thing rather than a Graphics card limit, as even when looking up at the sky, the FPS is always low like 15fps to 20fps max. It feels like there is a really high CPU ovehead at all times, like too many scripts running in the background or something... Has anyone else had this? Even setting everything to low, and a tiny resolution doesnt help. I have a Core2 Quad 3ghz, 2gb ram, NVIDIA GTX 285; ArmA2 runs very well on this pc. The game runs much better in editor mission i have made, with 30-50fps at normal settings. Has anyone found a fix for these problems? Undeceived 392 Posted July 3, 2010 Same problems here! Very low FPS and additional FPS drops to slide show speed. Sadly unplayable... AMD X4 965 Nvidia GTX 260 4 GB RAM
helo 10 Posted July 3, 2010 Actually, during the campaign I experinced sometimes also low fps for my conditions, meaning 21-24 FPS, especially at the beginning when dozenens of vehicles and units are moving in the base. However my 4 CPUs @ 3.4 GHz were only working at 60% at this time. Might have something to do with the engine and its use of system ressources.
AlesMrak 10 Posted July 3, 2010 Try disabling HT(Hyper Threading) if you have it enabled, HT halves cpu power if enabled. br. Dr.Jones
Undeceived 392 Posted July 5, 2010 But this is only for Intel CPUs, or am I (hopefully) wrong?

Zipper5 74 Posted July 5, 2010 There's only one real explanation I can come to with why BIS' missions perform so poorly, but every other one performs fine - the amount of scripts running to make them playable in both SP and MP. Many checks, many loops, large scripts and calculations constantly happening the whole way through the missions. Adds a lot of strain to your computer. Undeceived 392 Posted July 5, 2010 You don't think it is the amount of AI on the map?
Zipper5 74 Posted July 5, 2010 Well, if you look at them in the mission editor, there aren't THAT many AI on the map. Not a ridiculous amount, at least. Scripts running in the background, however...
EL_LEJI 13 Posted July 5, 2010 same problem for me, below 17 fps in campaing AMD Phenom x4 9500 GTX 260 4 GB Ram Windows 7 64 bits
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted July 6, 2010 No it's the location that causes the performance drop. I expect due to number of enterable buildings coupled with SSAO. Go down on textures and post processing, maybe even shadows off. That will help, but unfortunately turning off shadows made the enemy way too visible. I love the area though, and here I can go down on settings without it bothering me too much. If I did that for the Chernarus "bad trees", it would affect my combat ability since I could no longer see through the tree leaves where enemies might hide. For the rest of the campaign, I have playable frames, from 20-45 which I can accept.
thomsonb 3 Posted July 10, 2010 The same location runs at 45-50 fps on the same settings in the editor with 20 ai groups running around. Even with 50 ai groups in the editor, i look at the sky and the FPS is upto 60. But the Campaign missions always big down.. This is strange, I hope it will be better in the beta version eventually B
