tromac 11 Posted July 2, 2010 Our host is useless and have screwed our installation, not to mention taken so long just to get it up. They refused to do it over our existing install and have made it standalone. When trying to view the server in the in game server browser it does not show up. If I try to connect to it directly I it shows as red, with the word 'expansion' in red in the expansions box. I suspect it is because they did it as a standalone install so 99.95% of the ARMA2 community in Australia will not be able to connect to it. Can anyone assist and confirm if this is correct? HIS-MOTHER 10 Posted July 2, 2010 Actually the installation isn;t screwed up, it was installed as advertised. A STAND-ALONE EXP. Also transfering 7.7GB of Data to Australia from the US does take a while. There are also players able to join that server. What I'd lke to hear from are the DEV's in this matter. Are we to understand that if installed and run as a stand-alone people that have both ArmA2 and OA can't join a Stand Alone OA Server? Does this also mean people with the Stand Alone EXP OA client without the Arma2 Content can't join a server that has all the files? Why woud it be allowed to be installed as stand alone then? WQhy would it need a seperate EXE? At that point if both sets are needed it should just run the same EXE and call a EXP Folder.
NevilleBartos 10 Posted July 2, 2010 i know for the client install, OA installs to the same directory as A2, youd think it would be the same deal with a server installation.
tromac 11 Posted July 2, 2010 Okay I need to make a correction. Our server host, specifically one individual is doing his utmost to sort this out for a very frustrated group of players. In light of what has been learnt the issue is with BI. We either support players with both Arma 2 and A2OA, or we support Arma2 p,ayers only, or we support A2OA stand alone owners only, argh. [kh]jman 49 Posted July 2, 2010 (edited) Are we to understand that if installed and run as a stand-alone people that have both ArmA2 and OA can't join a Stand Alone OA Server? Does this also mean people with the Stand Alone EXP OA client without the Arma2 Content can't join a server that has all the files? Players with a combined A2:OA can join an OA server just fine. The problem comes when an A2:OA server runs a mission on say Takistan where it has both A2 and OA models. In this instance players with just OA will not be able to join - they will get an error stating 'you cannot play this mission it is dependent on missing data.. bla.. bla.. I know for the client install, OA installs to the same directory as A2, you'd think it would be the same deal with a server installation. It is the same for a server providing of course that the server has A2 installed before running the OA install. Edited July 2, 2010 by [KH]Jman
HIS-MOTHER 10 Posted July 2, 2010 So which exe needs to be called? We can run both ArmA 2 and ArmA 2 OA from the same exe? Which exe to call? Ex.. -config=server.cfg -port=2302 -profiles=D:\ClientInstalls\demouser\GameServers\TC31382447634482742465302\ -name=server -maxplayers=32 or below for OA -mod=Expansion -config=server.cfg -name=server -port=2302 -profiles=D:\ClientInstalls\demouser\GameServers\TC31382447634482742465302\ -name=server -maxplayers=
[kh]jman 49 Posted July 2, 2010 (edited) KH ArmA2:OA Public Server example (this is a combined server): arma2oaserver.exe -port=2302 -name=Server-KH -config=Server-KH\Server-OA.cfg -cfg=Server-KH\Arma2.cfg -profiles=Server-KH The arma2oaserver.exe reads the OA .pbo's from the Expansion folder and the A2 .pbo's from the AddOns and Common folder Edited July 2, 2010 by [KH]Jman
HIS-MOTHER 10 Posted July 2, 2010 Jman;1667656']KH ArmA2:OA Public Server example:arma2oaserver.exe -port=2302 -name=Server-KH -config=Server-KH\Server-OA.cfg -cfg=Server-KH\Arma2.cfg -profiles=Server-KH The arma2oaserver.exe reads the OA .pbo's from the Expansion folder and the A2 .pbo's from the Common folder Jman. Do we need to call the seperate EXe's to flip flop from OA to regular Arma2 ? This post here suggests we do not. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=100974&highlight=dedicated+server&page=2 Counts 14 and
[kh]jman 49 Posted July 2, 2010 That forum link is outdated information and no longer relevent so you can ignore it. If you want to run regular A2 then use: ArmA2Server.exe

Thats exactly what I was afraid of. Our Control panel (TCADMIN) does not allow for the exe's to be swapped only paths and mods can be altered. ---------- Post added at 04:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:04 PM ---------- Well I have it up but now I am getting The server goes up but in the lobby it is listed in RED and is unjoinable with the error Bad version error. tromac 11 Posted July 4, 2010 Our server is up and running for most. Some people with different installs are not able to connect. Is anyone else having this problem with their dedicated servers?
Andy-LPGS 10 Posted July 5, 2010 We haven't had these issues for our customers but the setup is rather tricky to nail down. Once down though, it seems rudimentary and rather simple.
