infinitySS 10 Posted June 30, 2010 Hello all, Ok I am guessing I'll get yelled at, but I have been searching for a solution to this problem non stop for some time with no success, please help me :( I've played arma 1 a lot in the past, and seeing that arma 2 was on sale I finally decided to get it. I enjoyed the demo when I tried it so I know my computer should run it, so when buying the game (on Steam) I was not worried about any conflicts with hardware. Tho now I could be mistaken. This is what happens when I start the game. The different logo screens come up as they should, then the menu starts to load, and the mouse shows up as the arma 2 ingame mouse icon, but then the game freezes, I can see that the landscape rendering, or whatever it is has loaded faintly in the background and then I crash out to the desktop. I get no information other than "ArmA 2 has stopped working - Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..." then "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." the game is version: 1.07.71750 My comp: q6600 at 2.55 asus striker extreme 2 gigs of ram evga 8800gtx Also, I don't have any virus protection programs installed at this time that would kill the program. I have reinstalled the game 3 times now, I have defragged the entire drive, updated direct x, and video drivers, checked game cache, I have also removed my daemon tools. What else should I do, I'm really depressed I can't play the game :\
[frl]myke 14 Posted June 30, 2010 The ArmA2.rpt which is on your system could probably help to solve this. Can be found there: C:\Users\Myke.home-PC\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 Of course with your username, not mine. :D
Killerwatt 0 Posted June 30, 2010 (edited) And you are right, you will get yelled at.......for not putting up a descriptive title. :) Edited June 30, 2010 by Killerwatt
-)rStrangelove 0 Posted July 1, 2010 Maybe the default settings for ArmA2 are already too heavy for your system. A solution would be to find & edit your ArmA2.cfg to use lowest gfx settings as possible and then restart the game. First thing you could try would be to insert world=empty as a parameter behind your arma2.exe in your startlink.
infinitySS 10 Posted July 1, 2010 After looking into the .rpt file it turns out I had my sample rate set too high for my audio, I have it set to 24-bit 48000Hz which the game dosn't like and dies :\ "Error: sample ca\music\ambient01_cold_wind.ogg with unsupported sample frequency: 44100 Error: sample ca\dubbing\global\radio\male02\en\report\move.wss with unsupported sample frequency: 44100 Error: sample ca\dubbing\global\radio\male02\en\numbers\all.wss with unsupported sample frequency: 44100" reset to 44100Hz at 16-bit, restarted the comp and the game seems to runs fine YAY! Thanks for the help everyone :D
