Ish 11 Posted June 25, 2010 Before I waste anyones time, I DID use the search function but found nothing! So.. What does this do, and what should I set it too using a 5870? Complete specs in signature. Thanks!
EDcase 87 Posted June 25, 2010 It sets the number of levels for the HDR effect. Higher = smoother but more strain on gcard. Default is 16 I think. Mine is set to
TangoRomeo 10 Posted June 26, 2010 High dynamic range rendering HD 5770 @ 32.
NeMeSiS 11 Posted June 26, 2010 I use 16, seems to counter the flickering HDR you sometimes get at 8. Couldnt find a noticable difference in performance on a 4870.
Gera_CCT 12 Posted June 26, 2010 Tested from 8 to 32 here and noticed big impact on performance with no image quality gains. 5850 here.
Erratic 10 Posted June 26, 2010 Is the HDR effect only on if post processing is on yeah?
NeMeSiS 11 Posted June 26, 2010 No, HDR is always on and cannot be turned off. Without it everything would be black, there would be no 'eye adjustment' to the current lightning condition. Personally i still think that the whole thing is a bit overdone, but its acceptable now.
Ish 11 Posted June 26, 2010 So 16 seems to be the way to go? I'm obviously not having any performance issues with this computer, I was just curious :) If 32 drops the performance with no image quality increase with a 5850 I suppose it's the same with 5870. NeMeSiS 11 Posted June 26, 2010 If you have problems with 8 you should put it on 16, if you are still not happy then put it on 32.
sbsmac 0 Posted June 26, 2010 From some testing I did the main hit seems to be in going from 16 to 32.
Dwarden 1125 Posted June 27, 2010 using search on forums would reveal me explaining it several times :) but it's easier to go to BIIKI 'BI Community Wiki' and see http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/arma2.cfg here it's explained ... i wrote that so people don't need to ask these
Ish 11 Posted June 27, 2010 Sorry I must have misspelled it or something ^^ I did a search now and you're absolutely right :p I was kind of bummed out nobody had asked it ^^ Thanks for the link :)
reconteam 19 Posted June 28, 2010 Does anybody else think the HDR stuff is overdone? I mean, if you look at the ground or walk into a building in real life everything doesn't turn really bright.
