Civilian enemy

If you give an civilian a weapon or pistol, then he is a independent unit. ;)

No and no.

Please, stop using setFriend on civilians. It's very improper.

The better solution is to change the side of the civilian to a hostile side like independent or BLUFOR. Do this by either editing the mission.sqm or by grouping the unit to a BLUFOR/Independent leader then deleting him or setting his probability of presence to 0.

That's untrue actually. They are still side civilian, and enemies won't shoot at them. But yes, the civilian side inherits it's side relationships from the Independent side (so they will shoot at whoever's an enemy to the guerillas, but to those enemies will still appear neutral).
