2010 24 Hours of Le Mans thread.

Recommended Posts

Seeing as we have a World Cup thread, we may as well have a thread for another major sporting event that's happening this weekend. Do any of you guys watch it or even go to it?

Personally, I'd put my money on the following cars:

LMP1: One of the factory Peugeot 908s.

LMP2: Strakka Racing and their ARX-01c.

GT1: As a Corvette fan, it'd have to be one of the Luc Alphand Aventures cars.

GT2: Corvette Racing (who, thanks to a technicality involving Risi Competizione and their Ferrari F430 GT, now hold 1st and 2nd place in class in the starting lineup).

What do you guys think?

Hehe, that's about as likely as an earthquake swallowing the whole circuit. Although, they do seem capable of completing more the 1 lap they managed last year.

I'm eager to see how the new Audi R15 Plus will perform. The open cockpit seems to be a very difficult aerodynamic design.

Also the JLOC LP670 looks very slick!

Tom Christensen FTW! :)

Lucky my work ends 15 min before the end of the race tomorrow so I might see the finale.

I hear Porsche will have GT1 car again next year. Well see about that. The one in 1998 or so was pretty successful.

Seriously good racing, can't believe all four Peugeot 908s broke down like that, all at about the same place and just after a pitstop too. I do feel that Peugeot were slightly to blame for taking out the #64 Corvette, they got off quite lightly in my opinion. It was a nice sight to see the old Saleen win, the car deserved it after 10 years. Very tough race this year though, only half the cars that turned up actually finished (1 didn't even make it to the start of the race) which is quite surprising. It was also nice to see the Spyker finishing, even if it wasn't all that quick. Overall, a very good race in my opinion.

Some of the new regulations for next year also look interesting, with a (yet-again) promised reduction of power for the diesels to level the playing field, a single GT class to take over from GT2, and the ability to use KERS devices on cars. I must say I am looking forward to next year's event.
