Mage 10 Posted May 29, 2010 I'm on the process of installing the arma2 server on a linux dedi, it said I need to upload my whole arma2 directory thats kind of dumb, why'd I need to upload files such as dubbing.pbo (1GB+) etc. I was wondering if there's either one site where i can wget the game files from so I don't have to FTP them from my computer (might take me a week ish to upload 8gb of data) or if these files arent really necessary to run my server. Kind Regards
=wfl= sgt bilko 10 Posted May 29, 2010 Not sure you can get by without all PBO files. I feel your pain, took me four evenings to upload the original addons folder to our linux server.
Dwarden 1125 Posted May 30, 2010 as game runs simulation in the box it needs the files (e.g. w/o the model proportions You can't calculate paths or collisions etc., w/o the model configs You don't know xyz etc.)
Mage 10 Posted May 30, 2010 gotcha, well I was wondering if the files were necessary, is there any place where we can 'wget' the addons folder at least which is the biggest upload?
killswitch 19 Posted June 2, 2010 gotcha, well I was wondering if the files were necessary, is there any place where we can 'wget' the addons folder at least which is the biggest upload? No. At least, there shouldn't be, because if there is, that's probably a breach of the ArmA II software EULA.What you can do is compress the addons folder. Using 7-zip, the ArmA II addons folder gets down to around 6,3 GiB which isn't exactly small, but smaller than 8 GiB.
