Debugger

Recommended Posts

When I try to start the game an error message comes up with the text: "A debugger has been detected. Unload the debugger and try again". I played yesterday evening and everything was ok.

Please post your specs (software).

Is "doctor watson" active?

Did you install any new programmes? Do you have any C++ compiler installed? It may have set itself as system default debugger.

You may want to doublecheck your compiler settings. Do you have Borland C++ Builder?

I only use Borland C++ builder pro 4. I haven't used any other C++ compiler so I cannot help you in disabling their debugger.

Compilers do have debuggers normally. At least they should. wink.gif

edit: Call it coincidence or not. I've just encountered a debugger warning when trying to run a program. (see picture below). As you can see it displays "MS Visual C++", eventhough I don't have MS Visual C++ compiler installed. Thus it must be the integrated debugger for windows (very logicly the one from MS Visual C++).

btw, that program runs fine when I put it in another directory.

It's really just the compiler. Anyway, thanks for your help, but I still can't start the game.

I know, but the point is, that nothing has changed since last night and now I can't start the game. Never had any problems

Well since you are running XP select START > HELP > SYSTEM RESTORE and restore from the previous night when it WAS working. This will fix the issue without having to wonder what HAS changed. smile.gif

I have same problem... Even the OFPPatch_1_46.exe says "Debugger detected". I had Visual Studio .NET installed and I uninstalled it, no luck!

I have not played OFP about 1 month, so I cant say when this problem started... Today I upgraded my display adapter to GF3 TI200 and tested OFP and noticed it won't work anymore.

My system:

Win2k pro

AMD TB1.4GHz

512MB

MSI k7 Master

Gainward GF3 Ti200 Jumbo 128MB

That's SafeDisc thinking you have a debugger loaded and are trying to reverse-engineer or break the copy-protection engine.

There are several types of utilities that will falsely trigger this message, all of which somehow attach to running processes to monitor or modify them. There was a guy in this forum a few weeks ago that had a program that was supposed to help recover from General Protection Faults, and it triggered the message.

I saw the Norton Utilties mentioned, but I don't know which version we are talking about. If Norton's CrashGuard is installed, I would disable or uninstall it, since it is likely to have the same problems.
