Yes indeed, it is a camera! All german soldiers have to have one in the near future on top of their guns! With the amount of UN activities abroad more and more of our soldiers face complicated situations, and they have to be sensitive not to overreact! In case someone gets shot the Den Haag trial watches the film of the gun-camera and checks whether the soldier has reacted correctly!

biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  Just kidding!!! biggrin.gif

Actually it is a megaphone which animates animal sounds. In case you make noise because you stepped on wood and the enemy heard the "crack!!!" coming from the forrest, then you can turn on you megaphone and it will make the sound of an elk, a Yeti, a rhino, a drunk mexican, a raped rabbit or a horny frog!!

You talked about a german standard rifle (G36)

(i know that I constantly talk about stupid Germany but in this case I had no choice) the german suckers below carry one! (strange ones though)

action2g36nv.jpg

action2kampfk.jpg

I can tell you why. It is probably due to the recent attacks on Synagoges all around France and the killing of german tourists by terrorists in Djerba. They took a truck with which you transport gazoline and supposingly drove into it (but that is not sure yet). Many tourists got killed in the fire!

Maybe they were protecting a synagoge or something and were just a little bit more alert?<span id='postcolor'>

FYI, the German Kampfschwimmer in the bottom picture don't carry G36's, they have what appears to be HK G3 rifles and a HK21 machine gun.

And yes, that big contraption on the G36 in the top picture is a night scope. It's a Zeiss/Hensoldt unit that attaches in front of the optical sight built into the carry handle (not present in the export version of the rifle), so the range-finding reticle of the scope remains usable even at night.

You are absolutely right! I copy pasted the two pictures! They probably wanted to show a comparison between old G3 and new G36 as can be see below

g3-g36.jpg

Of course this is a night scope. It is simple to find out you just have to go to HKpro.com (cool images)

There are three (I dont realy know) versions of the G36, the one below I have never seen before ....

But definetly a sexy new standard weapon for the germans

for the vigipirate plan u must know that Lille is a sensible town (many riot there becse of poverty).

For the FAMAS and the strange accessorie, yes it's a thermal visor... i once see one.The officer in duty to use/clean them told me that u can separate in a group of 10 soldier the head of the guy in the middle and see if he wear glasses or not at a distance from 2,5km (i only see it in his package, when we were cleaning the NV goggle for a general inspection that occur every 3years, and the package seems so huge that i asked why we got a tank visor in a paratroop rgt).

The FAMAS is not heavy, but is full of empty... the under of the Famas is an empty semi barrel that cover the under of the gun). The famas can be a very precise gun (me i know i can hit with a 3 burst nearly 2 shot at 70%).

But the FAMAS got 3 major pb:

-his rate of fire is very huge (near a MG fire rate)

-it's a pot for calling dirty... the empty semi barrel keep all thing (i even found a tree leave inside this barrel one time).U can fire mortar grenade very accurately, but if u do so u must use same ammo till u clean the weapon or u ll have very big pb with the gun (gunpowder of the special ammo for mortar grenade are a little too high for the famas gun)... like crack in the gun at worst.

-the kill rate of the famas is too high (due to the speed and rotate of the bullet which is very high). There's a rumor that if u are shot by a Famas if the bullet touch a bone the bullet explode in many shrapnels that are more deadly than the bullet itself.Generals consider in a war that an injuried soldier is better than a killed, becse he ll slow down the team and even rescue he will a weight for the nation.

*i only was 2 rank up the Pvt... chief corporal? (brigadier-chef en français)... this is my only remains after 6year out of duty, sorry to not give full details*

Ak-4, the standard Swedish infantry rifle is just another name for the HK G3. It's a very good weapon (precise). On the negative side it is very heavy and a hell to clean smile.gif
