Does anyone have one of the two AMD Phenom II X6's?

Recommended Posts

How does it perform? I'm thinking of getting ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO, 4GB RAM, and AMD Phenom II X6 1055T to use as a low buck server for Arma, HTTP, FTP, MAX rendering, etc.

I can only speak from experience with Intel. 4 cores to 6 did nothing for ArmA 2 clock for clock.

For rendering, the 6 cores will make a significant difference in threaded apps :)

I'm pretty sure Bang's stuttering is reduced because of 1)very expensive RAM 2) he never runs anything less than two 5970s or two 480s and 3)his machine is overclocked to NASA compliant levels of frequency.

He would tell you himself the only real way to play completely silky smooth is a machine like his PLUS RAMdisk.

He said the six-core got rid of excessive stutter caused by hyperthreading, you can also solve it by using cpucount=4. Dont waste your money on a sixcore if all you really do is play games.

cpucount=4 did nothing for me on my i7, I had to manually disable HT - Doing that gave me a massive FPS boost and never seen the game stutter one bit ever since.

It got rid of the need for 'cpucount' briefly. The last few beta patches have forced me to re enable the 'cpucount' switch. The game still runs perfectly as long as the switch is enabled.

If I just get CPU, RAM, Mobo it's $10 less for AMD Phenom II X6 1055T than Intel Core i5-750. $409 | $419.

$555 if I go for a better Mobo and Phenom II X6 1090T. I have extra cases power supply and HD's.
