Installing Arma 2 on a separate Partition?

Recommended Posts

Since my Harddrive is full with crap again, i need a reinstall of XP.

Im allready gettin more and more annoying Texture popping and lags[only 5 Gigs remaining where arma 2 is installed].

What can you recommend?

Is it good to make a 10-20 Gigabyte Paritation for ArmaII only.

I would install XP on the 280 Gigabyte HDD and leave 1 paritation formated only for Arma2..

So it would read from the same HDD[got only 1] but like i said, from a different paritation.Does this affect the loading to good?

I heard from some guy that installing it on a different hard drive makes it run so extremely good, though I don't know about partitions on your hard drive.. I think it might work, but make it 30 gb cause after 2 years arma mod community and Operation Arrowhead will blow 20 gb to the stone age! :P

No, it will not help. Instead, it is more likely to slow down your disk performance.

For what it's worth, I formatted 1 week ago and put xp in a 30GB partition, everything else including ARMA2 in the remaining 430GB. I have no loading problems.

When I formatted my harddrive I made a 40GB arma 2 partition first and installed windows on the second (large) partition. This way arma is on the outer (fastest and most dense) part of the harddisk.

if you make a large windows partion and after that a small arma partition arma will be on the slowest bit of the harddisk (the inner bit).
