Domination - Everon - A.C.E

Recommended Posts

Great map man, we've had a lot of fun playing it!

It might just be my friends and I, but we can't figure out how to call artillery in the ACE version of Domination Everon. We've played with all the different player classes and navigated through every menu we can find and still can't make it happen.

How do you call in artillery on this map?

Hi !

Thank you ! I'm enjoying Everon a lot too. Brings back a lot of great memories.

Calling artillery support works just like in Xeno's vanilla version. To be able to call in artillery and vehicle (In my ACE Everon version you can also call in several support vehicles) support, you must be the leader of either Alpha, Bravo or Charlie squad and you must be equipped with a radio (AN/PRC-77 or AN/PRC-119). The options will appear in the action menu (mouse wheel). The radios can be found in the "Ammo Box" and "Ruck Box" at base.

Enjoy...

N-N-N-N-NECRO BUMP-ump-ump....

But in all seriousness, is there any chance to get this to work with the CWR2 Everon, and the latest Domination?

That really depends on which parts you want to transfer over to the CWR2 Everon map.

I mean you're certainly not interrested in the aged Domination 2.11 code base, so basically porting the latest Domination to CWR2 Everon (if not already done by someone) would be the thing to do. Back when I did the port it was rather easy as most things are script based and not specific to a particular map.

If you're after a certain feature that's not in the original Domination, feel free to take whatver you find useful.

Yeah, I've tried pasting most of the code from the latest build over it (keeping the i_client.sqs i_blahblah etc. all the ones that deal with positionings.), and some features work, but actual missions do not.

I've tried the Domination editing thread but haven't found the answers... :(

I'm afraid it's not going to be that easy. As far as I have understood the Domination code base has seen a massive technology upgrade after v2.57 (or at least I remember reading about that).

Taking a look at the latest v2.60 scripts I don't think there's much left that would work by just copying it over from the old 2.11 version I used back then. Probably it would take less time and be much easier to start a new port from scratch. From what I could see the main target generation is based on locations (which is good as those can easily be added / changed) and works sort of automatically.

The side missions however are another story. It would seem they're carefully placed on handpicked map positions. There's lot's of markers that pinpoint the position for each side mission and those will need to be re-arranged manually and then tested - that's quite some work. Most of the customizations I had done back then would probably need some code changes in order to work properly again. Not really a tough job but also time consuming.

I'll have a closer look at things tomorrow.

I'm afraid it's not going to be that easy.

This is one of those rare - almost unique occasions - where it's probably even easier than you thought... :D

Sgt Ace, who made the SAP Everon on which this mission is based, is also a member of the CWR2 team... He laid the initial groundwork for the CWR2 Everon before I took over on that island, and both SAP Everon and CWR2 Everon were initially based on the same data...

I went back to the original and remade the CWR2 Everon heightmap, based off a new interpolation of the original OFP heightmap, so the two islands don't always entirely match now, but the basic layout, and most importantly - the ground coordinates - of all the important locations should be exactly the same...

To port this mission to CWR2 Everon...

Open the mission.sqm in notepad and find/replace all instances of "sap_everon" with "cwr2_everon"...

**EDIT**

Massive mistake on my part... (you can tell I'm not a missionmaker ;)..... this should be...

Open the mission.sqm in notepad and find/replace all instances of "sap_everon" with "cwr2_eden"...

That should be all you need to do!...

If you want CWR2 units - open the mission in the Editor and change every vehicle and unit you see on the airbase to the CWR2 equivalent of your choice...

To change the badguys and the bonus stuff???.... well - you'll need to hit the scripts for that since that's where they come from... head over to Tankbuster's Modifying Domination thread and ask nicely which scripts you need to look at...

PS... all sidemissions should also work fine - their coordinates will be the same too... ;)

Thanks for the info Bushlurker!

I've already had a look at that thread. A lot of stuff has changed since I last had a look at Domination but thankfully the juice is still at where it used to be. I sat down today and started from scratch using the Domination v2.60 code base. I've got the main missions working as well as a couple of side missions i manually relocated.

Right now units and gear are from the Domination 2.60 OA West version and Takistani guerilla do not look very authentic on Everon. As soon as I can find some more time I'll add the CWR2 units, equipment and other hardware (I'm sure the classlist coming with CWR2 will come in handy).

I'll add to my first post in this thread once I've got something worth showing.

BTW: Outstanding work on the terrain!

Later release of cwr2 demo will contain an ofp2cwr compatiblity pbo. At least 90% of most mission's vehicles and units wont require altering (the pbo translates ofp classes to cwr2)

We held off supplying in in current demo because some important vehicles were not supplied in the release and it would have rendered this pbo only partl useful, and mostly, frustrating.

I was wrong. It actually became easier to edit Domination. I've had a look around and will work on a port to CWR2 Everon.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the OAC addon do something like that ?
