Ghosts in my editor :)

Recommended Posts

Very strange goings on lol

I am in editor

I place mh6, with me as pilot.

Then I place 1 enemy bmp with assoc troops. Change my mind and remove/delete bmp, and regroup troops to their leader.

preview mission. enemy troops where I expect them, and no bmp as expected.

I shoot all troops, (middle of a field). Next thing a BMP drives along a road to the north and shoots me stone dead. LOL WTF? I go back to editor and for sure no BMP is there and certainly not on a road to north where I never even placed it even before deleting. Spooky or what. Goin to sleep with 1 eye open tonight!

haha, that's very odd. Is there any way you could try recreating that moment and see if you can capture it on film?

Maybe bigfoot was driving the bmp !?!

Ha Ha great i love the random events that happens, really gives me the creeps when you create a mission, and because of this, you think you know whats going to happen etc then something completely random happens and it kicks you in the face.

Il never forget a night time seek and destroy mission i made. I had just taken a villiage and needed to get to the enemy scuds (classic) quickly before they launched. Anyways i found an abandoned truck and decided to go cross contry with my 12 men. So we're nearing the objective when suddenly out of a vally to the left front of me a convoy appears headed by a shika. I was like WTF!!! that convoy was placed miles away how on earth it got there i have know idea, instantanusly i orded my men to eject whilst taking fire, all i could hear was status reports of men killed injured, contacts position and gunfire. I was led on the ground with dead leg that i recived when giving orders, with only a few men left i tried to crawl away from the wreck and engage the convoy, i took the shika down but then recived a fatal shot.

I then stopped realised i was back in the real world with heart pounding lol

Name one other game (non-BI) that can create such emersive gameplay, for 1 hour i was an officer, led next to my burning truck trying to take control of the situation :)

By "emersive" I assume you meant to coin a new word, combining the words "emergent" and "immersive", in order to more accurately describe the awesomeness that is Arma2. Good job, sir. ;)

Those moments, like the one you described, are what makes BIS games special.

However, I think the OP was describing something different - a unit was there that shouldn't have existed at all. Personally I haven't experienced this though. Maybe the Ambient Combat Module was active and it was all just a strange coincidence?

Never happened to me either. Like MadDogX says you probably had the ACM module on the map.

Dude are you sure you clicked on preview? I had the same thing happening to me because instead of previewing I 'continued' the mission so the new data wasn't loaded.

it took me a long time to figure it out too, since once you get comfortable with the editor you do things automatically.

While developing the Fire & Smoke addon I was alone, no single other thing in the editor, when something scared up a flock of birds a few hundred meters away. It wasn't me, and I know for a fact that the birds are only ever scared up by something moving reasonably fast. I thought "Goddammit, I've found Bigfoot at last" :) so I went carefully hunting it down, quite scary in a way.

Turned out it was a rabbit :D
