docluvless 0 Posted April 12, 2002 I have been playing opflash with my slow computer for a while now. The game is very playable even with my set up. My friend just got a new, much faster desktop. And man flashpoint looks great! Right now I have a PIII 667 192 ram voodoo 5 video card 15 gb HD w/ DVD and cd burner Have any of you tried a "barebone" system and built up from scrach? Is that very hard? I have a little extra money to get a new mother board and chip. I was thinking about getting a 1.5 P4 or some AMD processer. I definatly want a board that can upgrade to maybe <2.2 ghz.

Check the net for reviews, opinions etc. Once you've decided on components the actual assembly is a piece of cake. Unless you go to work in a big, woolen sweater, wearing large furry slippers on a thick wall-to-wall carpet.
Guest Posted April 12, 2002 I have a AMD 1.33 Ghz Tbird, ASUS A7M266, 512 MB DDR Ram, ASUS v8200 Geforce3 Deluxe 60 GB (need to upgrade very soon) SB Live Platinum, 5.1 DVD reader, 16x Plextor CD-Recorder, 100 Mbit Netgear network-adapter ..and a crappy 17" Compaq V75 monitor I will soon get more disk and a new monitor (perhaps 19 or 21"). Otherwise my system is fine for now. I got it last summer and then it was really the best possible, but as always with computers that lasted for about one month ... Still it works fine with all the software I use, so I guess I shoundn't complain.
shadow 6 Posted April 12, 2002 Current system: P-III 1GHz (100fsb-slot1) 512MB SDRAM ASUS P3V4X motherbord Adaptec ASC29160 scsi controller 2x36GB U160 seagate SBLive!Platinum CL Ge-Force 3 Hitachi 19" (107KHz) WinME OFP runs great in 1280x960@32 ...but I'm looking forward to my little upgrade project (I'm getting my P-IV 1.8 0.13m on monday, along with a Intel 850 Maryland motherboard with 2x256MB RDRAM) I would suggest you aim a little higher than a 1.5 GHz if you can spend the money. a 1.8GHz ain't that much expensive than a 1.5 Â hmmmm come to think of it. The lowest CPU available over here is 1.7 end its approaching EOL very fast (EOL=EndOfLife).

I have to get a now motherboard as well, because of the socket, But I am aiming for an 850 again. But I thought about waiting. It is not gona take long until you get the stupid 2.0 for the same price. (since we got the 2.4 out already)
