S_Z 0 Posted April 12, 2002 This map is so great.. It look so good when you take a A-10 and fly over this beautiful landscape in a sunset(with viewdistance at 5000). There is only one problem with it…it makes me wish OFP supported even lager maps…it doesn’t take to long going from one side to the other   I wish we could have the entire NTC
Markov 0 Posted April 13, 2002 I like this large almost full land mass map more than words can describe! Its unbelievable, I spent all last night merging other maps missions with it. Its so vast, and realistic, large valley and long shore line. We really need 100x100km though…and super computers to handle 40,000 foot F16 fighters, with unlimited view distance. But really it is the best map ever, simply because its fractal is based on a real DEM scan array. A large convoy ambush in the main valley has to be seen to believe its still Operation Flashpoint the game. Especially if you have 8000 viewdistance and pilot an OH-58. USSoldier11B 0 Posted April 13, 2002 I downloaded that imagry program. I really need to talk to someone that knows how to use it, and also knows how to turn a DEM product into an OFP compatable file. I would really like to play with this and see if we can make some more "real world" maps. If I can do this sucessfully, maybe we can impliment a program like this in my batallion. Tex -USMC- 0 Posted April 13, 2002 hey if you have the hardware, crank yer view distance up to 40000 or so, and just tool around in an A10... ah, that is the good life.
Guest Posted April 13, 2002 It's really strange how you can crank up the viewdistance to max without getting any lag. I suppose that objects like trees, houses etc take much more resources to render then the actual land mass.
LordZach 0 Posted April 13, 2002 i'm currently making an American (i guess you could easily convert it to Ruskee) base in the SW corner. currently i have an airstrip, some docks, and a bridge. ATM i am working on roads and after that i will either work on a fence or housing just incase anyone is interested

I suppose that objects like trees, houses etc take much more resources to render then the actual land mass. <span id='postcolor'> Yes that's why as an old timer sim fan, I would like Cement blocks marking terrain obstacles, if need be (this is a training DEM scan after all) and also the plain version with no obstacles. Having a clear desert reminds me of my early FA/18 days in '96 and my Falcon days in '91 -- but with the 3D graphic quality of OFP units. OMG it's just wonderful. I wish they would move the map to the right as to make that silly cliff line dissapear. And a word of [begging] advice. PLEASE MAKE THE WHOLE MAP LAND AND ONLY PLACE RIVERS RATHER THAN MAKE IT AN ISLAND /shout off. So yeah Jungle it whatever, but gimme gimme gimme, vintage flight/war sim desert versions too. Markov, out.
