Resistance rec/min specs

Recommended Posts

Hey, first post biggrin.gif I just wondered if the min/rec specs for resistance have been mentioned yet, even hinted at by the BIS team? I ask becuase my parents are thinking of getting themselfs a new computer and seeing as it will most likley be better than my AMD 1.4GHz, i was thinking of what to push them towards buying, and just swapping the computers smile.gif

If this is in the wrong forum in sorry (wasnt sure where to post it)

Adam

1.4 Ghz and 256MB ram should be more than sufficent, if you in addition already have a Geforce 3/4 or Radeon 8500, i wouldn´t bother upgrading.

Cheers for the info Satchel, i only ask becuase they are likley to be getting a new PC anyway, so they might aswell get the newest stuff they can. My current Pc should be able to handel it fine with those specs but id feel happy just to have a better computer than my friends biggrin.giftounge.gif

btw, the sound mod rocks!

I think I read around 700 Mhz somewhere "to fully enjoy it"... Of course with a good graphics card and memory also.

Well, if you really want something to show off, connect yourself with the japanese dude that overclocked his PIV to a friggin 4010 Mhz!

A Japanese fellow raised the bar on overclocking a CPU yet again. This time a Pentium4 2.4 Ghz (Northwood) was cooled down with liquid nitrogen. Combine that with 400@668, 48MHz FSB overclocking a Asus P4B266 Rev.2.01, a CPU VCORE of 2.10 Volts and a nicely chilled Pentium 4 at -175 Degrees Celcius and bingo .. it overclocked to 4010 MHz.<span id='postcolor'>

Hehe biggrin.gif,

if you´re not so much into overclocking, an AthlonXP 2100 and the new batch of GeForce4 Ti 4200 or 4600 together with 512MB DDR Ram is certainly a healthy setup with many performance reserves for games to come.

Ouch! i seriously wouldnt wanna see what happens to the internals when his supply in liquid nitrogen runs out! I can just imagin it self combusting! lol.

Anyway, alot of the new rigs that out from evesham (the company we bought our last pc from) are about AMD 2+Ghz, 512 DDR RAM and GF4 or Readon gfx cards. It would be likley that if they got a new rig, it would be similar to that.

Im probably gonna dread asking this becuase i know people have strong opimions on it, but whats the current preference of gfx cards? The GF4 or the new readon? confused.gif

does anyone else think that these game companies are leaving too many consumers behind by driving their specs this high?

Not everyone is single and has 2 grand to blow on PC's for gaming. Lomac is doing the same thing for flight sims. VD5's won't give you all of the effects sad.gif

So, with prices of games going up, with lack of manuals so then you need to go out and print one. Graphic cards running over $200 USD for a good one and needing processors over the 1.Ghz this hobby is going to leave alot of potention buyers behind.....

V5's aren't exactly super-recent, are they? OT: Even the Matrox G400 can display the water effect from Lomac (and that card is pretty old).

Lomac will be using as many features of todays videocards as possible. This is great because it means the game will still look great in one or two years.

It's always been like this, and it's probably never going to change. Love it or hate it.

Hmm, well i guess that the computer companies argument in that would be that if this sort of Hardware is avaliable, why not use it to the best of its ability?

This does unfortunatly lead to high spec games and software which is all due to the fact that most new PC's can handle a hell of alot more information than those that afre a few yeas old. Its also a shame that tis predicted that the cost of computer equipment is about to rise which means even more people will not be able to afford to keep up with the specifications of new products. sad.gif

I don't see why you are complaining... You're folks are gonna buy you a new rig to play games. I wouldn't be too worried. I'm sure your 1.4 ghz athlon won't be enough biggrin.gif , all you have to do is convince your parents that you need a new computer to do homework...

Gimmie a break... I'm tired of this rich kid, I'm getting a 2.2 ghz Pentium46252 systerm with 173512MB RAM and a Geforce 16352 bullshit.

I can play flashpoint on Pentium 2 450, 256 RAM and a Voodoo Banshee and still enjoy it online. Please don't complain that your computer is not fast enough. Not everyone has folks that are made of money.

[RANT OFF]

I won't be able to afford another computer for about 2 years. I don't know if any others feel the same way I do... I don't care actually. sad.gif

This is wierd>>>> PC at work: 1.5 GhZ PIII, 368 MB RAM, has both a Radeon SDR and a NVidia Aladdin TNT2. (2 monitors)

PC at home: 755 MhZ PIII, 256 MB RAM, Matrox 200.

PC at home runs OFP much better. It is beautiful. I am dissapointed with it on others that I have tried that are better machines. Is my PC magic? Someone wanna explain this one to me?

Cloney, i wouldnt call my family rich, i havnt been on any form of holiday in 4 years and we were literally broke after the last time we went away anywhere, and my question if you read was "what are the specs going to be". I asked because i head rumors of the specs needed for the army's VBS1 was insanely high, and just thought whether they were translating that accros to their new products. mad.gif

Anyway, :self-defense mode off: flamed in my first topic  sad.gif  :note to self, try harder to be nice to everyone:

P.S. [edit] hardware for most elictrical goods are dirt cheap at the min, but are due to rise, thats why they wanted to buy.

What kind of financial planners are your parents if they go broke after a vacation ?

Maybe you shouldn't have gone on it in the first place, ey ?
