MDRZulu 0 Posted April 7, 2002 *WARNING**WARNING**WARNING**WARNING**WARNING* Don't get Jim's Sound mod, it sucks soo bad its not even funny. Perhaps it might be a little bit funny but dont get it. Only under one condition should you get it, and that is if you are depressed and need a laugh. I wasted my time getting 20mb. If by some chance you want to see what I mean I got it from ofp.cz
zurf 0 Posted April 8, 2002 lol ya the mg sound is the only good one ....anyone know where to get better sound mods besides the dynamic one. Just ones that go over your sound.pdo file.
MDRZulu 0 Posted April 8, 2002 I hope you didnt mean the m-60 and pk sound, they sound like a cheap silenced smg from 007 or something.
RAZAK 0 Posted April 8, 2002 WTF is wrong with it. I actually like it. I dont understand why it sucks so bad. All the weapons sound 100 times better than the originals. Tell me one thing what it wrong with It. LOL you said the MG's sound like silence 007 mg. WTF are you talking about. I hate to say but that is what the real gun sounds likes. I dont believe that you put the mod down that much. What do you want? Every gun to sound like a big ass shotgun? Do you actually know what the guns sound like? For me i think the explosions are excellent. The tank or vehicle explosion it better than the default one. What do you want in a sound mod? I just dont believe it. PEOPLE DONT LISTEN TO HIS BULL Â I recommend this mod for everyone. If you dont like it there is something wrong.
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted April 8, 2002 Well... for instance the bmp explosion is taken from a movie... so you hear backgrund noise and firing :/ weird
RAZAK 0 Posted April 8, 2002 well what do you want the sound mod maker to do lol. Explode a real BMP in his back yard and record the sound.
madmike 0 Posted April 8, 2002 do what satchel did and go around recording people walk up ladders and running about
GFX707 0 Posted April 8, 2002 I think (and I am probably wrong) that satchel took that running sound from Day of Defeat

MDRZulu 0 Posted April 8, 2002 RAZAK did you make it or something it actually degrades the original sound. I do go shooting every now and then and though I have never fired a m-60 I know it doesnt sound near to what the mod made it sound like, I still hold my comment saying it sounds like a cheesy silencer from possibly a chuck norris commando movie or something. I dont know if satchels sounds were realistic or not (the m16 and ak's sounded pretty realistic) but they sure as hell made me want to play ofp more because they improved the quality of the game. Jims sound mod is crap
S_Z 0 Posted April 8, 2002 I think Satchels soundpack is a lot better but you can not say that Jims is worse then the original. I have not tried all sounds yet but those I have tried sounded ok, better than original…ok I agree that the explosion is pretty strange…but I can live with that. I have trouble with Satchels pack when I play online so I use Jims online and Satchels when I play singlegame.
RAZAK 0 Posted April 9, 2002 I agree that the .50 cal doesnt sound up to par as the others but if you go to jims site he was a soldier in the swedish army. So i think he wouldnt put any fake sounds into the mod since he heard them all before, but i guarantee that is what the M60 sounds like. I dont know what the PK sounds like though. Ill have to ask my Father. He was a MG Gunner during the 60's.
advocatexxx 0 Posted April 9, 2002 Why don't you guys try my Sound.pbo file ? Seeing how I'm unhappy with lots of sounds in Flashpoint, like the woodpecker sounding M2 and super-annoying cannons on Shilka/Vulcan, I ended up editing many myself, and testing them. All changed sounds confront to Flashpoint's standards, so no chirping or static should be heard. Here is a list of the sounds I changed: - M16/M16 Burst, XM Carbine Single Shot (full auto still has the original sounds) - AK47/AK47 Burs/AK47 Full Auto, as well as all AK74 sounds - M21 sound - Hand Grenade Explosion sound. - AT6/Rocket impact sound - M60 Machine Gun - M2 Machine Gun - All tank cannon sounds (diverse sounds for two groups - M60/T55 and T72/T80/M1A1) - Rocket Launch Sound (LAW/Carl Gustav/RPG/AT4/Strela/Stinger) - A10 Engine Sound (much more realistic and louder) - A10 Cannon Sound - Cannon Sound (Shilka/Vulcan/Chopper Cannon) - Thunder sounds enhanced during storms (thunders are more realistic and much longer in duration) Well that's about all the sounds I can think of that I changed. If anyone were to download them, just make sure to make a backup of your original "Sound.pbo" in your DTA directory. Just download, unRAR and place my file in there. I hope you try out all my sounds and report them here. NOTE: M16/AK47 weapons have similar sounds. The original Flashpoint sounds for these weapons were vastly diverse. In real life they don't sound that diverse. Finally, here's the link: http://www.materialized.com/misc/Sound.rar

Lt_Dan_Sweden 0 Posted April 9, 2002 Hi Regarding Jims Sounds. First, please use a good card and most IMPORTANT use a loadspeaker WITH sub. If you use a light (and open) headset, it cant produce the base, so the M60, MG and others sound like a previous poster described. A closed big headset might be a good comprimise. Regarding the explosion, I always thought of it as secondary explosions, that extra bullet-like sounds, about one sec or two after the primary explosion. It's real if the target was a TANK ,like Jim prefers. There are many things to still improve. I would like the Carl Gustav to sound LOUDER and with more base. I love the sound of the BMP!!! Tht huge diesel engine with strait pipes without a silencer. Generally speaking, the west weapons do sound wimpier in real life to. Jim has a special version which is better but it manipulates the Config. Ask him if you really want realism. His page is http://jim_262.tripod.com/ Please post a link to mr Satchels pack of Sounds. Lt_Dan_Sweden 0 Posted April 9, 2002 oh I forgot! two more sounds I love from Jims Sound: the metall-to-metall cutting sound when reloading AT/CG/LAW the regular reloading of mags with Assaultrifles.
Antichrist 0 Posted April 9, 2002 I just love Jim's sound pack! I reckon its much better than Satchel's one. No offense, Satchel 1) It doesn't edit config file 2) It sounds much more realistic than Satchel's one 3) Its smaller

I think that Satchels sound pack is waaay much better. There is no trace of realism in Jims soundpack. Don't let me start on the explosions.. what a joke. I suppose some of the sounds are better then in the original OFP.. but most of them are a joke.
