Overwriting issue

Recommended Posts

I downloaded many times a mod for Arma2. the problem is that everytime i keep using the same file once overwritten.

In the archive .pbo file size is say 150Mb. Once extracted its 140Mb like the old one. Seems like Windows7 is not overwriting the file.

I tried to "unblock" the archive file just downloaded, extrating in another folder than "Addons" and using winrar as administrator.

The old file has been cancelled and still the size it not changing. Same name new download old size...

Someone told me about "auto-backup" in windows Vista and maybe 7 too, but it's not clear...

Any ideas ^^ ?

Delete the old file first.

Done

Use windows explorer or Total Commander www.ghisler.com

Use them to extract or just to overwrite ?

I can't believe it, as soon as i copy\paste in addons folder size changes...In the archive is 148, extracted elsewhere is 145 in modfolder 141.... I tried to change its name via 7.zip program nothing ! I open it with PBO.view and new files are in there.

i'm goin'crazy

Windows 7 is giving me quite a few problems... some nice features but I think I'll wait for the first service pack, back to Vista x64 or Xp x64 for me...

side note: ArmA runs no better on Win7 x64 than Vista x64 for me (15 mth old very nice PC)... yet to try XP x64...

Google for Virtual Store, disable UAC and clear out the virtual Bohemia Interactive folder that's inside the virtual store folder.

Then try again, and thank Bill for an idiotic approach.

Google Virtual Store Win7

(You should be able to find it in

%userprofile%\Appdata\Local\VirtualStore

)
