arthur666 10 Posted January 25, 2010 ... and another button to fire the grenade launchers. It sucks having to cycle thru semi, burst, full, GL, handgrenade, smokeshell, satchelcharge... when all of the sudden an enemy walks around the corner 10 feet from you. This happens to me alot when in CQB. I've just fired my GL and it takes seconds to get back to single or burst. Two fire buttons plus a "throw" would be wonderous. sorry if this has been mentioned already.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted January 25, 2010 F for anything involving the main weapon, Shift H to cycle through tossable grenades and equipment (not M203), and H to tHrow/put depending on what was selected. Fire button would fire the main weapon. If only M203 was active and not grenades, smoke and satches and whatever, "several seconds" wouldn't be "several seconds" anymore. From M203 it will only be one F to get to the gun, and problem would be solved. Side Question: In real life, do fire team leaders or grenadiers always have an M203 loaded, or do they load it up when it is needed? Iirc from Generation Kill, he wouldn't keep an M203 round loaded constantly like we do in Arma.
norsu 180 Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) Much easier would IMO be a similar system like in many other FPS games; use number keys to determine weapon selection. Like so: 1: Main weapon (rifle or mg) 2: Secondary weapon (pistol) 3: Special weapon (launcher) 4: Throwable weapons (grenades, satchels, mines) If you have say one frag grenade, one smoke grenade and one satchel, you could select one of them by pressing 4 and then 4 again or roll mouse wheel to select another weapon in that class. I think Stalker did this wery well without making it too complicated or clumsy. You had the number keys for weapons, one key for firing mode, one for ammo type and one for selecting the grenade launcher. CarlGustaffa 4 Posted January 25, 2010 Those are kind of already taken for old style commanding, which is not ready to be retired yet. Also function keys are taken already.
arthur666 10 Posted January 25, 2010 I think the STALKER setup is one of the best I've seen. It alos has the seperate triggers for main weapon and GL. In Arma, I could use some num. pad keys for stuff like that (I use directionals as opposed to WASD). I don't really use the "look" functions, and I should get TrackIR anyway. But PLEASE BIS leave one key just for fire mode, nothing else and another key to switch between gl, grenades, smoke, whatever. I was hoping for this since OFP but somehow it wasnt noticed.
