Patch 1.05 compatibility issues

Hey everyone.

So I recently upgraded to Windows 7 32bit.

Working with a Dell Inspiron 530, 430 Watt PSU, 9800GTS Nvidia, Core Duo @2.20ghz. 3Gig Ram.

So since upgrading, I am able to play the game flawlessly until patch 1.05. When I start up the game, it immediately crashes when I get to the menu screen.

I get "Arma 2 has stopped wroking...Windows is working to resolve the problem..."

I hear this may have a lot to do with resolution. My native Res is 1360x768. I was able to play the game after some messing around with resolutions but once I shut down the game, im back to the same problem with crashing. I am unable to just start the game and simply play.

Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions? Your input would be great.

I am getting the exact same error on windows 7 premium 64bit, got 4g of ram, nvidia 9800gt, 3.1ghz dual core athlon and a soundblaster audigy card. THe game works on it's current 1.03 version, but when I try to join multiplayer games I get something like wrong version, server not found ect...really annoying.

It sounds like your patch is corrupt. Avoid downloading it through torrents, I did that twice and each time it was corrupt.

I tried to post this issue in the proper forum. The issue I am having has to do with the 1.05 update patch:

I have downloaded this patch from 3 different mirrors, at least 3 different times each.

Here is a copy of the text of the error log when I run the 1.05 patch .exe file:

My original game was downloaded from Direct2Drive. Installed and played with no errors (so far).

Could you please define the error codes reciecved ?

I haven't tried to simulate the download as a CD if the error is related to a pathing issue (which does seem likely, But creates more issues for downloadable game content vs store bought versions).

Basically those error codes mean the patch is looking at the files and they don't match what the patch thinks they should be.

Try reinstalling thendownload the 1.03 patch and install that, after that install the 1.05 patch

My first issue is that this issue seems to be only affecting users that DOWNLOAD this game. I have surveyed 22 new users of the ARMA 2 game. Of those 22, 15 purchased the game retail (at a physical location, receiving a Boxed Product), 7 had purchased the game online. All 7 have this issue with pathing files the patch can't find.

Basically, it means that the quality control at BIS is more than a little lacking. I spent the same amount of money on a product that won't work. I spent over 12 hours working on this over the last 3 days. There are 2 forums that mention the problem (one of them here). Nobody anywhere has posted a fix. And the fix you posted (Applying patch 1.03, then 1.05) would be fine if I could find the 1.03 patch somewhere. I looked for it on the official site download library, but it wasn't there, which since it was quoted here is just sort of wrong.

I also looked on Fileplanet. (associated with Direct2Drive whom I purchased the game from). I have counted on Fileplanet for files (patches) for the last 3 years. They had 1.02, 1.04, 1.05 and 1.05 Hotfix, but no 1.03.

My current partial fix was to take the files I downloaded (purchased). Create a DVD ISO image. Virtually mount that image and run the install again from the DVD Drive. (each R/R operation is about 90 minutes).Then installed the patch and only got 12 file errors, rather than 50. Of those 12 files that still errored out, All of them were in the /addon directory of the DVD Image so why the error ? has to do with last part of the path: Specifically "#steam".

I don't understand how this applies to the pathing, but there is the problem.

ArmA 2 patch 1.05 has been applied successfully.

While it says the patch was applied successfully, the game crashes intermittently and there is are missing sound effects.

My last comment -> Can BIS use another tech support person ? I need a job.

I bought my game from Amazon, brand new and sealed; when I install it, says I have version 1.03. So far I have downloaded the 1.05 patch from 4 different locations and every time I get the same error 'Arma 2 Has Stopped Working'.

Been trying to get online to play multiplayer and getting many messages stating my version is too old when I don't patch it. I have uninstalled the game several times as well and it does not help, so basically the 1.05 patch is not working on Windows 7 64bit. The game plays ok without the patch, but then I struggle to get on multiplayer with 1.03. The multiplayer was recommended to me, but I am sorry I bought this game now and I will leave negative feedback on Amazon as a result, the tech support for this is almost non existent and I definately won't recommend the game to anyone else.

Yes I also us this game with a hard copy. I can use every patch version with no problems except patch 1.05.

I will reinstall the game and patch it to version 3 then patch it to version 5 and see what results I get and post them here.

I also noticed that changing compatability with Win 7 does not help either.

I've just bought a new Motherboard with an i7 920 and after doing a clean reinstall of everything Arma2 works fine before applying a patch but after applying patch 1.05 and running it crashes to desktop before the main menu! I used to have an AMD Phenom II 940 which ran ok with 2 GTX260's SLI. What could be the problem now?

Just today I downloaded Arma2 via Direct2Drive and installed it. It runs fine but I wanted to fully update the game to 1.05 so I downloaded the patch from the same site that I downloaded my game from and tried to patch the game. I am running Vista with the latest service pack. Also, I am not using steam at all for this game so I find the steam error codes a little funny.
