mosh 0 Posted December 29, 2009 (edited) The simple way is just to open editor and do the following. 1. place you (Player) 2. place module (just one of each kind you want to use, anywhere on map) 3. synchronize module to Player 4. preview mission to see in action There are many more options through scripting, but that will get you started. Here is a topic on the different modules with good info... http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=77403 Edited December 29, 2009 by Mosh more info
Beagle 684 Posted December 29, 2009 Just place one A.L.I.C.E module on the map, the rest wil be done by the little magic goblins inside your Computer. Of course there are ways to tweak this modules, but I dont know enough about this. But for a basic and hardware friendly civilian life simulation, one module is all you need. mosh 0 Posted December 29, 2009 You dont need to synchronize ALICE. ;) So you can just place the module and that's it? I guess I need to figure out what ALICE is first, before I get too confused... Thanks :)
Master gamawa 0 Posted December 29, 2009 I don't know what ALICE is but animals, civilians and civilian car modules work just by placing them anywhere on the map. You just have to wait for a while and eventually they'll start popping out and scare you with manly voices.. yeah I am talking about the women.
Bon 12 Posted December 29, 2009 The Ambient Civilians module is called ALICE, and you can enable it just by placing the particular module onto the map. On default settings civilians will be created in a location when a player comes closer than 1000m, but can be customized in many aspects. Here the description: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Ambient_Civilians Be advised: I tested this module recently and it seems that created civilian units do not get deleted automatically (placing a garbage collector module doesn't work also). After a flight over Chernogorsk and Elektrozavodsk I had about 500 civilian units created, leaving any location did not get them deleted. Furthermore consider this happens for each client machine connecting, so I assume this module is nothing but server machine overkill when you are going to use it in MP context. (BTW same for Animals)
